There is very little doubt that health is a personal matter. In fact, it most definitely does concern you. But we as a nation need to take a long, hard look at ourselves to find the answers to some pertinent questions:
What are we doing to our bodies?
What do we want from life?
How long do we want to live?
Is our lifestyle killing us?
Why are we eating this type of food?
I could go on with any number of questions. It is becoming clear that the vast majority of the community is not in charge of their destiny. In regards to health, people are allowing their bad habits to drag them down. Once on this downhill slide, they often see no other direction, and so, they simply sit back, accept the direction in which they're heading, whilst vainly clinging to optimistic hope/: “It won’t happen to me”. It should be remembered that our health doesn't exist inside a vacuum. Instead, our health does affect others around us, including family, friends, fellow workers, and in fact, all tax payers. We all have to accept the responsibility of maintaining a satisfactory level of fitness, and hopefully, lead by example.
Bob Lloyd
Robert John Lloyd was born in 1947 at St George Hospital in Kogarah. Growing up, his interests included Rugby League, Cricket, Tennis, Gold and Surf Board Riding. In 1967, Robert graduated as a Physical Education ("PE") Teacher from Sydney's Teacher College. Robert taught PE at Belmore Boys High School and Sydney Technical High School during 1968 as well as other schools such as Griffith High School, Wade High School from 1969 to 1972. From 1973 to 1984, Robert became PE Master at the Entrance High School and in 1985, became PE Master at Central Coast Grammar School and worked there until 1998. Some of his major achievements included: 1973 Riverina Schoolboys Rugby League Convenor 1974 Secretary NSW Combined High Schools Sport Association 1974-1984 - NSW CHS Rugby League Convenor 1976-1979 - Secretary Australian Schools Rugby League Association 1979 - 1984 - President Australian Schoolboys Rugby League Association Life Memberships: NSW Combined High School Sport Association NSW CHS Schoolboys Rugby League Association Australian High Schools Rugby League Association The French Senior Rugby League Association Avoca Beach Junior Board Riders Club Central Coast Grammar School P&F Association Robert has been married for 44 years (update?) and still going strong... women rule! He has 2 children and has lived and worked on the Central Coast since 1973 and currently the General Manager at the Star of Sea Luxury Apartments in Terrigal since 2004. This book is dedicated to my dear departed mum, Connie Lloyd, who cared for me since the death of my father when I was just one-year-old.
Mum sacrificed everything to afford me a life filled with love, good food, exemplary standards, respect, sport and laughter.
There were many occasions during mealtime when mum didn't eat anything because she claimed she wasn't hungry.
I think this unlikely...She did everything in her power to ensure we grew-up within a stable and caring environment, with access to the very best education.
Mum was very proud when my brother and I both became physical education teachers. Anything that I have achieved over the past 68 years is nothing more than a reflection of this marvellous woman.
I wish I had done more for Mum, but don’t we all? Really, all I can do now is to lift my eyes towards the sky and hope she is doing just fine.

In 2001 I had just moved from Melbourne to Sydney to start work with Basketball Australia. We had an offer from Gosford City Basketball Stadium to host the Australian Men's Team the Boomers for a camp on the New South Wales Central Coast. I drove up for the day from Sydney and was shown a number of options for accommodation for the team. We pulled up to Avoca Palms Apartments at Avoca and out comes the M anager with his name badge on which says
Bob the Boss".
Well this was the first day that I met Bob Lloyd and since that day we have had a great friendship that has developed over the last 15 years. When I first met Bob I thought this man was very interesting person and over time I learnt his background was as a school teacher and the positive influence he has had on so many people over a long period of time.
When I first met Bob I was in not in good physical condition. I was weighed 135kg's and in denial of how heavy I was. While I was an active person I just didn't get what it meant to be really healthy'
-that is eating the right foods, the correct type of exercise and just learning to look after my body and health. It took a bit of a light bulb moment to get me started and meeting Bob and his positive influence on me definitely helped get me to get started. In 2003 I took ownership of my health and through a lot of hard work I lost 45kg's and 13 y ears later I have kept the weight off and exercise on a daily basis and try and be a positive role model for my children.
