Surrogate Omega
By Haylee Wolf
Chapter One
Evan Fisher’s job was simple. As a surrogate Omega, he carried a pup in his belly and delivered it to happy parents unable to have kids of their own. This wasn’t Evan’s first rodeo, but his third. After being emotionally-invested in his first surrogacy and having his heart torn after when the parents never spoke to him after he had their child—Evan learned from his mistakes.
Rule number one: never get emotional. Always be polite but firm to the parents.
Complications never sat well with Evan. He avoided them all costs. But Trevor insisted Evan meet his mate, the Alpha whose sperm the Shifter Surrogacy agency used to implant in Evan’s belly.
Oh, Evan liked Trevor well enough. A car accident in his teens left Trevor a barren Omega. It was Trevor who Evan met over the past week. Trevor’s Alpha husband seemed to avoid these meetings at all costs.
Something changed though, Evan didn’t know what yet.
Evan recited the information he had of the couple in his head. Glenn owned his own business, an auto-repair shop that seemed to be doing well. Trevor worked as an accountant in a local firm. Together, they brought in enough cash to care for a kid. They certainly seemed capable enough—that was all Evan needed to know.
Yet here he was, feeling awkward as hell, in Trevor and Glenn’s living room, sipping sugary ice tea. Evan didn’t even like ice tea in general. He preferred his teas hot and plain. Since he couldn’t think of a thing to do while waiting, he sipped some more. Most of the time, Trevor met him at a café or restaurant in town.
Some couples preferred the painless method.
They would leave Evan alone until the final stages of pregnancy. Trevor wasn’t the ‘leave-alone’ kind. The other Omega wanted to be involved every step of the process. The Emerson’s’ three bedroom apartment wasn’t huge, but had enough space for a new family. The couch Evan sat on, dominated the living room which had a TV and shelves filled with books and photo frames.
Muffled voices came from the closed door of the bedroom. If Evan strained his ears, his supernatural hearing wouldn’t have much trouble making out the words. He didn’t bother. None of his business why Glenn didn’t want to meet him anyway. Evan ran a finger down the spines of the books on the shelves.
One shelf was filled with sci-fi books, the other with gay erotic romances. Another was filled with recently bought child-raising books. Evan plucked a random one, and noticed the folded pages immediately. Smiling to himself, he placed the book down. Since the first time he met Trevor, he knew the guy would be a good father. Glenn, he’d yet to know about, but already, he didn’t like the man.
Hearing the door open, Evan retreated to his position on the couch and resumed his tea sipping.
Sorry for the wait, Evan,
Trevor said apologetically.
The Omega tugged another man with him. Tall, buffed, handsome and somewhat grumpy-looking, Evan assumed this was Glenn. A contrast to Trevor’s lean frame, copper skin and dark hair and eyes, Glenn was slightly tanned, blond and blue-eyed. A lovely couple, the photographs on the shelves agreed with that—if not for Glenn shooting him a look of pure dislike.
What the hell did Evan ever do to this guy?
For crying out loud, Evan carried their pup.
Shouldn’t this Alpha be falling over his feet for him or something?
Finally, all three of us in a room,
Trevor declared, beaming. Baby, this is Evan, Evan this is my husband and mate.
Fine. Evan would be polite, but only because he liked Trevor. He held out a hand, which Glenn didn’t shake. Evan’s lip curled. Noticing the mounting tension in the room, Trevor grabbed Glenn’s hand, prompting the Alpha to grunt and give Evan a quick handshake.
Evan, your ice tea’s finished, want another glass?
Trevor asked
Before Evan could say ‘no’, to plead to Trevor not to leave him alone with his mean husband, Trevor grabbed his glass and disappeared into the kitchen.
Glenn and he eyed each other. Evan sat back in the couch.
Three weeks into his pregnancy wasn’t all that bad. Give him a few more weeks more and he’d start complaining about his joints and morning sickness. Male Omega pregnancies were a lot different from female ones. Female Omegas gave birth the same way as human ones.
Evan could carry a child to full
