Parenting can be a wonderful experience. Most parents however will admit that there are times they are ready throw up their arms and surrender. Even though a parent may not feel stressed, many spend day after day feeling anxious about how they are doing.
After all, children do not come with an instruction manual. Each parent, just like each child is unique and special. There is no guaranteed method for raising a great kid. Most of it is done through trial and error. What works with one child may not have any effect at all on another.
Many parents read child-rearing books by the gross, hoping to learn the secret of raising happy and healthy kids. What these parents do not realize is that there is no one size fits all
way to raise a child. Every parent must listen to their child and determine what works best in their situation.
This book provides some tips and ideas from the experts to try out and see if they work for you and your family. Not every idea will be successful, but many probably will. As a parent, it is important that you understand your personality and that of your child.
If you are more laid back, chances are your child will be as well. This may mean you can take a more relaxed approach to parenting. If, on the other hand, your child is all high energy and drama, then you may be pulled into more intense situations and as the parent, will need to control these.
Remember to carve out time for yourself starting when your children are very young. It is impossible to focus on raising a happy child when you are feeling anxious or stressed. Do not think of this time as time away from your child, but as time to re-energize and refocus yourself so you can be more focused on your child.
Almost every parent worries that they are making mistakes. They may be, but as long as they keep working at it, chances are their child will be just fine.
