    THE DATE

Ross Chancellor couldn’t help but laugh as he walked the four blocks from Serena Mitchell’s office. For the past few months they’d worked together on her advertising campaign for her new line of swimwear. He had to admit he was very impressed with her business acumen. She had a winner with her hot, and brilliantly designed new swimwear. Why shouldn’t she? She had made sure to use only the best quality material for her line. But just as importantly, she’d had the good sense to use the best advertising agency in the business. It had taken them hardly any time at all to take Serena’s concepts and turn them into a workable idea. Finding a factory to make the swimwear had been relatively easy. As far as getting the public ready to see Serena in a different light and selling ultra-sexy swimwear, well that department had been all his. He’d been determined to build the best campaign of his life. And he’d done it under the tight time constraints she’d insisted on. Had it been any other customer, they would have been charged triple for the rush campaign.

Rubbing his thumb back and forth over his lips, Ross admitted he had ulterior motives for the path his thoughts had taken. Okay, so he wanted to take a bit of credit. He wanted Serena to realize how much of an asset he truly was. He wanted to work with her again.

Now however, his mind was on their date. Though they’d spent the past ninety days in each other’s company they’d termed it as a business friendship. Since Serena’s line had launched with fantastic reviews, his work for her was officially over. With the restraints off he’d finally done what he’d longed to do the past few months. He’d asked Serena out for dinner. Not dinner as a friend, but dinner with a man who wanted an adult relationship with her. A man who was interested in romance. This was him staking his heart on what he hoped could be. This was to be their first official date.

One little thing he hadn’t told her was where he was taking her. He laughed in amusement knowing not only would Serena be surprised, but she’d be overdressed for the occasion. He was going to enjoy it. He was taking her camping for the weekend. Yes, he anticipated she’d balk about being away from her office without warning for an entire weekend, but in the end he thought she’d enjoy it.

He had just the right spot picked out. There was a small manmade lake that was well stocked with fish. Considering it was on land his family owned, they’d be secluded. It would be the perfect place for a seduction. They’d fish, catch their dinner and cook it on an open fire. Then they’d get dizzy with wine and make goo goo eyes at each other before finally after all the months of waiting: they’d make love.

But first he had a ton of shopping to do. He didn’t own any camping gear. Besides that he had to take of one very important mission. He was going to shop for more suitable camping attire for Serena. He could guess her size. He was hoping to use the clothes as a peace offering, considering he didn’t think she’d react favorably to being surprised and less favorably to being practically kidnapped for the entire weekend. The way he saw things though, was to go big or don’t go at all. After that business with that silly bet Serena had made with their mutual friend Julie, he’d wanted more than anything to get to know Serena better. He was already more than a little in love with her. He was hoping the weekend would push her in that same general state of mind. Crossing his fingers for luck Ross
