    The Hive. 7 pm.

December 20th, Briefing with Detective Anna Beckett.

In the elevator heading up to Anna's office, I watched the numbers flash as we ascended to the 30th floor. I glanced at my Rolex watch. It was7 pm, for once I arrived on time. Avoiding Anna’s wrath for my poor timekeeping. I had a briefing session with her, over my next operation. She was still shaken up from the beating she took, from our last operation, although she put on a brave face trying to dismiss the trauma.

The stainless steel elevator door reflected my image. I wore a grey pinstripe suit, white shirt and no tie. My black leather shoes, shined from the fluorescent lights above. I inhaled the cologne I used, its musky scent concentrated in this tight space. A stray thought flicked to the time I sat close to Anna, inhaling her perfume infused with her natural scent. The bell rang bringing me to reality. The door parted and I peered straight ahead. The time was 7:02 pm on my smartphone. Anna stood facing the window she had almost panoramic views from her office. The full moon behind her, I squinted from her shadow that cast upon me.

I sneaked up to her office, walking past the empty workstations and flickering small lights on the computers. I opened her door, silently. I could see in the dull reflection in the window, her brunette locks were down the side of her face, the bruising had receded. She wasn't as pulpy faced, but she still appeared gorgeous as ever. I took an interest in the makeup she applied a thicker foundation to her pale face. She had a small cut on her eyebrow, her arms are still bruised and slightly purple. She seemed engrossed in a piece of paper she held, with her left hand. I snuck in more, I paused. Her right-hand shakes holding her cup of coffee. I closed the door, the sound made her jolt.

    I said, Good evening.

She put her cup down, You're five minutes late.

I blinked, Been watching you for about the same time. I didn’t want to disturb you while you were deep in thought. Solving the next case already with your intricate mind.

Anna rolled her eyes, Okay stalker. Take a seat.

I undid my buttons and pulled my chair over to her side.

No. Ah! Ah! Back there is quite alright.

I raised a brow holding it midway, and I slid it back on the other side. I sat, raising my leg, Are you well?

    Why wouldn't I be?

"First you give a briefing outside office hours,
