Stories of the Deugar - Clive Kristen

    1988.

    Introduction

The black Simonside Ridge dominates the skyline above Rothbury. This is serious walking country but the rambler should beware. It has been said that you could survive the snakes and the sucking mud of the peat-bogs only to encounter a mischievous and deadly creature called The Deugar, who lives in secret caves and takes great pleasure from luring unsuspecting walkers to their doom.

He had followed the lamb for hours. Whenever he managed to get close, it would scamper away - closer and closer to the dark Simonside ridges.

    David could still
