About this ebook
Research Assistant Sharmaine Harper has about had it with everything. A newly minted astrophysicist and minor zero-g soccer player, she signed on to work in Saturn space, expecting to be on the forefront of new astrological discoveries. But when she arrived at Brackett Station, she discovered her real assignment was babysitting the station Personality as it performed the repetitious chore of collecting observational data so ‘real’ scientists could analyze the material.
Then one of Saturn’s moons disappears and she’s thrown into a desperate situation no one expected. When a mysterious stranger and an incoherent ship Personality appears and offers assistance, the situation veers totally out of control. It seems the fate of Brackett Station, Saturn, and maybe the entire solar system is suddenly at stake.
Can Sharmaine rise to the occasion and save both Brackett Station and Saturn? And where does that stranger get his fresh hamburgers?

SAVING BRACKETT STATION
Leigh, start the next one,
Research Assistant Class-1 Sharmaine Harper said, repeating the command for what felt like the billionth time. Her degree in astrophysics with a minor in orbital mechanics had not prepared her for the stunning boredom she experienced everyday aboard the most advanced research station in existence.
Experiment SBS-10523 starting.
Leigh, the station Personality said. Results in one hour.
The once amusing British accented tones made Sharmaine want to scream. It was her personal Sisyphean hell.
She couldn’t help herself. How much longer?
Leigh had an immediate answer. Three hours forty-two minutes this shift, but only 397 days until your contract is up.
Brackett Station was one of three research facilities placed in orbit around Saturn by the JOV-SYS Corporation, the largest employer in Jovian space. Its job to collect every iota of data concerning every moon, moonlet, ice chunk, and rock larger than her fist that orbited Saturn. And every day she spent eight hours supervising Leigh in starting each test sequence and verifying the results.
It was so unfair.
She was wasting her life babysitting the most advanced AI ever devised, capable of performing tasks so far beyond her comprehension it scared her. It ran the entire station, managed the environmental systems, engineering, the food vats, and provided for the medical and psychological needs of the 82 members of the crew. Sharmaine had signed up and journeyed here hoping to join the
