- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book is cute. I loved reading it to my daughter. It is about a boy who builds a perfect sand castle, and then a dragon moves in. My favorite part of this book is when the boy eats all of the sandwiches, and pretends that the dragon ate them. The theme of this book is about using your imagination. I would use this book for younger students with active imaginations.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5One of my favorite stories, a small boy with a wonderful imagination builds a perfect sandcastle while at he beach with his family. Immediately a precocious dragon moves in and that is when the beach action begins to become magical. This is my new favorite summer read. The art is bright, the story is honest, the problem is real for many children in our protagonist's place...a recommended read. This would be a wonderful start to a classroom publication...When a Dragon moves in....
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Genre: Fantasy (fiction)I would use this book to:1. have students that are in kinder or first grade read independently2. teach students about the consequences of bad behaviorSummary: A boy builds a sand castle and a dragon moves in. The boy tells his family about his new friend put nobody believes him. The dragon becomes a little noddy so the boy tells him to leave. The next day the boy builds a castle and more dragons move in.Media: Pencil & acrylic paint
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a fun book for children that will be entertaining to them and fuel their imagination.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I like this book because it can really get a child to thinking about the difference between imagination and lying. As the Dragon does things in the story you can see that in the illustrations someone or something else is actually doing whatever the dragon is doing. With reading this book you can explain to children that it's okay to imagine things but there comes a point when they need to stop and take responsibility for something that they may have done that they are blaming on an imaginary friend.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a cute story along the lines of Laura Numeroff's If You Give a Mouse a Cookie series. Could be used as a mentor text to inspire kids creative writing.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A dragon has moved in again. This time so has a new baby. The little boy and the dragon will cause some trouble, and make their sister grumble, but in the end it will be okay, after all, dragons can be tamed.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A dragon has moved into a young person's sandcastle! Their parents are too busy to see it, and their sister doesn't care either. But our main character and the dragon have a great time playing in the sand. But when the dragon gets hungry, he starts eating all the sandwhiches and messing up all the food! He even throws sand at the little sister! Finally, everyone's had enough of the dragon!I thought this book was adorable and I think it would be a good creative writing topic for young writers. I'd like to hear what students would do if they had a dragon in their sandcastle!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I thought this was a really cute story. The main message of this book is to teach children to follow directions and be respectful of people. One thing I really liked about this book was the main concept. Children have a really hard time following directions. The author did a great job by making it silly with a dinosaur. I also liked how easy it was for children to relate to. For example, in the book the dinosaur was blowing bubbles out of his drink. Alot of children do this and like to play with their food even though they know it's not OK. Lastly, I really loved the illustrations. It is important for a picture book to have good pictures and this story really demonstrated that. The pictures were very animated and vibrant. They also contained lots of detail. For example in one picture you could even see the dinosaur tracks on the beach. This really helps students with comprehension and understanding the story more.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Illustrations: the virtual paintbrush. This book is about a familly adjusting to a new baby in the family. The little boy in the family has an imaginary friend, a dragon, who is helping him get prepared for his new baby sibling. Finally, the baby arrives and the big brother and his dragon dedicate themselves to entertaining the new little guy. When the older sister says there is no such thing as a dragon, the little brother gets very frustrated and acts out. When the baby won't stop stinking, drooling and crying, the older brother decides he has had enough. He goes into his room by himself and after a bit of time has passed, he realizes that he misses his dragon and goes into his little brother's room and soothes the baby brother back to sleep with the help of his dragon. This book is realistic fiction because it is a story about something that could actually happen. Often children don't know what to do with themselves after a new child is introduced into their world and this book portrays that wonderfully. The plot matters to today's children. Genre: realistic fiction, Age Appropriateness: primary
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5“If you build a perfect sandcastle, a dragon will move in. He’ll settle in all cozy and peep at you from inside…and you’ll wonder how you ever got so lucky.”There are a lot of advantages to have your own dragon. Bullies won’t bother you and you’ll have your own built-in marshmallow toaster. Still, there are also problems.Amazing illustrations that are both smart and silly make this book a great read.
