About this ebook
Porn addiction. You’d give anything to get out of it, but it’s not happening. Sometimes you feel you don’t have the strength to keep on fighting. I understand, and I’m here to tell you that there is hope. You don’t have to remain addicted for the rest of your life.
Getting involved with porn was a mistake, but an understandable one. The stuff is everywhere, a constant presence in our lives, always just a click away. If you tell me you didn’t fully realize what you were getting into, I believe you 100%. Wasted hours. Missed opportunities. Tiredness. Low self-esteem. Marriage problems. No one would deliberately choose all that. Did you really understand how difficult it would be to stop? I doubt it. I am quite prepared to believe that you would never have clicked on that first link, had you known what you know now. None of us is so stupid as to knowingly embark on such a destructive course. But you didn’t do it knowingly. But the dice were loaded against you from the start. Porn traps are everywhere in modern life.
If you’ve tried to quit but haven’t succeeded, don’t worry. That’s quite understandable. In fact, there are perfectly logical reasons. Breaking the porn habit is not just about good intentions and it’s not simply down to effort. It’s about knowledge. Skills. Strategy. In the last couple of decades, research has revealed an unbelievable amount about human motivation. This stuff is not rocket science. As soon as you read it, you'll recognize that it makes good sense.
Perhaps you are nervous about giving it another try, afraid of failing again. Please don’t give up. Thousands of people have already left porn behind. Keep on growing and learning. Soon enough, porn will belong to your past.
"Porn Escape" is a practical,science-based guide to breaking free from habitual porn viewing, full of insights that can help you to leave porn behind forever. A practical program you can start to implement today.
This is not a religious book but the author respects persons of all faiths. Easy to reconcile with any spiritual or religious beliefs you have.

Over the past 20 years, I have counselled dozens of people who have had pornography issues, in the context of my faith community. My books are based on material I have produced to help them. I enjoy researching topics and explaining them clearly to others.

TO THE READER
The purpose of this book is to help you break completely free from porn and remain free forever. I despise porn and I believe you should too. Porn is seriously subversive. It exploits both men and women. It degrades those who make it and those who consume it. It promotes selfishness, cynicism and a callous indifference towards other people. Real human beings are relegated to the status of objects, useful only for personal gratification. Porn is disgusting.
But if you are struggling with compulsive porn viewing, I want to assure you that I feel nothing but love and compassion for you. The fact that you have gotten hold of this book indicates to me that you don’t want to be viewing that stuff. It also indicates that you probably still are viewing it. As a fellow human, I am genuinely sorry you are in this predicament. Porn is a nightmare. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy – honestly.
You are an ordinary fallible human being. Most likely you are a good person, who wants to do what is right, and cares deeply about family and loved ones. No doubt you want to make the most of your life. It breaks your heart to see hours and hours being wasted, as you fill your mind with filth.
If you had realized how addictive pornography is and how harmful it would be to your life, you would never have started. But just because you’ve started doing something, you don’t have to continue doing it for the rest of your life. You’re better than that. There is a way out. There is hope. The purpose of this book is to show you how.
INTRODUCTION:
WHY YOU’VE GOT TO DEAL WITH THIS NOW
I’d like to offer you a part-time job. The hours are flexible: I decide when you come in to work. It may only be a few hours a week, but it may be much more. Whenever I feel like it, I can call you and you have to drop everything and come to work. Unfortunately, it means you will have to miss out good times with loved ones. Sometimes I’ll call you late at night and insist you miss sleep to come in to work.
I won’t ask you to do anything illegal, at least not at first. However, I may sometimes ask you to do some work for me during office hours at your main job. If so you’d better hope your boss doesn’t find out about me. I don’t want you to let anyone know you work for me. If you’re married, you mustn’t even tell your wife. You may have to come up with some excuse or other to throw her off the scent.
Oh, and by the way, did I mention, you won’t be paid? In fact, I may even expect you to pay me for the privilege of being employed by me. And once you start working for me, I’ll make it very difficult for you to ever leave.
That, gentlemen, is porn. Porn doesn’t care about you. It doesn’t care whether it wrecks your marriage or causes you to lose your job. It doesn’t care how many sleepless nights it causes you, how ashamed and guilty you feel. It doesn’t care how many good times you’ll miss out on with family and friends because of your addiction. It doesn’t care whether your tastes become more and more bizarre until you’re arrested and go to jail.
Incidentally, when I speak about porn, I mean any printed or electronic material that you use to stimulate yourself sexually. Possibly no one else would view it as porn. It could be scenes in mainstream movies, it could be clothing catalogues or websites, it could be sports events, YouTube clips, anthropological documentaries. There may or may not be full nudity. There may or may not be sexual intercourse. But if you are using it for the same purpose as you would use porn, then to all intents and purposes it is porn. Never lie to yourself on this point. Don’t rationalize. This is a serious subject and must be treated seriously.
You can’t afford to keep looking at porn. Viewing porn is a loser’s habit.
What Are You Becoming?
"Like a cancer, [porn addiction] keeps growing and spreading. It rarely ever reverses itself, and it is also very difficult to treat and heal. Denial on the part of the male addict and refusal to confront the problem are typical and predictable, and this almost always leads to marital or couple disharmony, sometimes divorce, and sometimes the breaking up of other intimate relationships."—Pornography’s Effects on
