Tales of Dulan's Planet Series

After crash landing on a strange planet in the forbidden Empty Sector, Commander Tarik and Lieutenant Narisa must cooperate to survive. Tarik’s relaxed attitudes infuriate the spit-and-polish Narisa, until they find traces of a lost colony and she’s caught up in the history left by Dulan, one of the colonists, which Tarik translates. Then she begins to question Jurisdiction laws. The appearance of large, intelligent birds adds to the strangeness of their surroundings. Slowly, they fall into love, but the arrival of a Cetan warship threatens their happiness. The birds help to remove the Cetans, except for one fellow, who was about to be killed by his companions. His name is Gaidar and he is a most unusual Cetan, who hates violence. He tells them of a new Cetan weapon, Starthruster, which can move ships through space much faster than Jurisdiction ships. The Cetans are planning a strike against Capital. With Gaidar’s help, Tarik and Narisa capture the Cetan ship and head for Capital, to warn the Leader. But they aren’t believed, and their story endangers not only the three of them, but Tarik’s parents, Almaric and Kalina, as well. Then Suria, an old flame of Tarik’s, warns of a plot by the Leader to kill Tarik’s entire family, as he fears their popularity. Just when it seems they will all die, Tarik’s brother, Admiral Halvo, reaches Capital and takes a hand in events. An interstellar war is brewing, but the Jurisdiction is unprepared to defend itself. Halvo orders Gaidar to take his parents to a safe haven, while he, Tarik, and Narisa join the battle. It’s a close call, but the Jurisdiction wins and the Cetans agree to a peace treaty. Still, Halvo doesn’t trust these old enemies. At Tarik’s suggestion, Halvo and Almaric arrange for a secret colony to be founded on the world they have named Dulan’s Planet, which is near the Cetan homeworlds. Tarik and Narisa, Suria and Gaidar are married and with a group of other would-be settlers, they head back to the Empty Sector.

When he reports the incident to his commander the next morning, Tarik thinks it was just an erotic dream and notes that they are living in the infamous Empty Sector of the galaxy, where strange events are routine. Days later, as Herne and Merin try to return to headquarters from the orbiting space ship Kalina, they are struck by lightning and sent to a thriving Tathan 600 years in the past. There they meet and make friends with Dulan, for whom Tarik named the planet, and also with several other telepaths of various Races. Ananka makes another appearance. And, most improbably, Herne and Merin become passionate lovers. But the food they eat doesn’t nourish them and they know the Cetans will soon attack and destroy the city. How to save their new friends? How to return to their own time? Ananka agrees to help, but warns the lovers they will forget everything that happened while they were in old Tathan. Can their fragile new love endure such a trauma?

Badly wounded in the war against space pirates, a depressed Admiral Halvo Gibal is returning to Capital, to a boring future confined to a desk job, when he’s captured by Perri of Regula. Halvo suspects there’s more behind the deed than Perri understands, and he’s fascinated by the red-haired, green-eyed, but seriously naive beauty. Headed for the planet Regula, confined aboard Perri’s ship, Space Dragon, alone together save for a robot named Rolli, Halvo tries to charm Perri, who isn’t interested. Or is she? Loyalty to her fiance, Elyr, conflicts in Perri’s mind with her new and very warm feelings for Halvo. At Regula, a nefarious plot is revealed, which involves Elyr and some serious political scheming. . Halvo, once a hot-shot space pilot, and now enjoying himself, rescues them, but not before the Space Dragon is damaged. They hide on a barren planet with a barely breathable atmosphere. A low-lying cave provides better air, where Halvo, having recovered his zest for life during the adventure, tries to repair the ship. There, he and Perri become lovers, and both realize how badly Elyr has treated her. Realizing they will be followed, they take the barely functioning Space Dragon into the forbidden Empty Sector in search of the planet where Halvo’s brother, Tarik, has settled. Pursued by three ships, Halvo is forced to land on Dulan’s Planet in a deserted area by the sea. After a blissful night with Perri, their pursuers arrive. One ship contains Halvo’s mother, Kalina, who is searching for her son. The other ships are Regulan and determined to capture Halvo. Will Tarik find them in time? Will Kalina, who blames all problems on Perri, relent in her hatred of the girl? Can Perri go free, or will she be charged with treason, kidnapping, and attempted assassination of an Admiral of the Fleet? Can Halvo solve his many problems and avoid that dreaded desk job?
