About this ebook

Have you ever wanted to get inside the skin of another human being? Have you really pondered the question of what the first person experience of another person is like? Have you ever wondered about the great gulf that seems to separate us from others? If you have, then this work is for you.

This work explores vicarious and empathetic living, and why it is inevitable to our growth as human beings. We all ask the questions stated above in one form or another, in a direct or veiled manner, sooner or later in our lives. We want to experience more, and very often, this desire to experience more means that we want to experience life from fresh perspectives. This is not really surprising, because as human beings our greatest hunger is our hunger for growth. It is almost a given that we watch the movies, and we meet people with backgrounds very different from our own, and we travel as tourists to different countries, because we want varied slices of the pie of life.

What can be more astounding than experiencing life through the first person perspective of another? It is something that we are almost guaranteed to never experience, unless we use our imaginations.

Avva

Avva is a philosopher, scientist, and educator. His central thesis is based on the idea that the method of investigative inquiry that forms the heart of scientific method should not be restricted to measurable entities, and that philosophy, by this reckoning, is a very worthy enterprise. He has a PhD in a quantitative field, and does scientific research in the fields of systems biology, computational biology, systems engineering, mathematical modeling, and allied disciplines. He is an avid student of neuroscience, philosophy, and astrophysics.

Demonstrating the value of putting yourself in other’s shoes

This very moment, as you sit down and read these words, I invite you to join me on some flights of fancy. Let us imagine this very moment that you and I are spending poring over these words, with the idea that perhaps this book will be interesting or edifying, or on a lucky day both. This very moment as you read a couple of words, the surface of your mind is (hopefully) plugged into these words. However, there are multiple layers of thought within you that are interpreting your experience, and giving you what you experience as reading.

There is that identity within your head that makes this transaction about ‘what’s in
