The Earl’s Ward

Kate is glad the Earl is back after his long travels to foreign lands to approve officially of her marriage to Tom, her fiancé.

Kate thought she had all her life mapped out but she had not expected her warden to be of such an amicable character with him insisting on their first meeting that she call him by his first name, Matthew. Neither had she expected to become so close to the Earl as time goes on and he willingly shares with her his life stories and work.

Even more annoyingly, Kate cannot help but notice how handsome he is with his distracting blue eyes. It is not long before she starts feeling a strong attraction and attachment to him, one she believes is shared by the Earl in return!

Kate will now find that falling for a man who has pledged his life and work to being an explorer comes with its own perils, one that only love may overcome!

Lady Eloise’s Will

Joanna has always loved Ryan; he is her first and only love!

However, the path of true love will not run smoothly for Joanna. Lady Eloise, the woman who saved her from life in an orphanage, appeals to Joanna to release Ryan from the strong bonds they have formed for each other, allowing Ryan to set off to sea and become a man.

Joanna, at the guidance and insistence of Lady Eloise, goes on to make the hardest decision of her life. She forces Ryan to leave her, making him think that she never truly cared about him, a decision which leaves both of them heartbroken!

Now, over five years later, Ryan and Joanna come face to face once more to hear the final words of Lady Eloise from her will but what they will find out at the reading will surprise them, igniting again the powerful passion and desire that they both thought they had long ago suppressed for each other!

The Presumptuous Earl

Claire is under no illusion that Anthony the Earl of Beaumont has no great liking of her, but merely tolerates her as one of his sister’s closet friends.

But Claire is soon to become completely confused. If the Earl thinks she has such a bad character why is he instigating passionate encounters between them and requesting that she officially becomes his mistress?!

Even more shocking, why is she responding so wantonly in turn to his advances, allowing him to give and take pleasure from her so freely?!

The Patient Viscount

Cassandra wants nothing more to do with her former lover Tristan, the Viscount of Crescent, having found him in a compromising position with another woman.

She flees from him in her deep upset, only to find that the Tristan has no intention of letting her go. And this time around, once he finds her he will be more demanding than ever!

As long as I can remember I have always loved everything and anything to do with the romance genre. Enjoying writing, reading and watching a wide range of love stories. I am a true romantic at heart! So after studying for a philosophy degree and then going on to work in a corporate job in advertising, I decided to reconnect with my passion again! I now write mainly romance short stories, with the aim to share all of my ideas with others who also have an interest in romantic fiction. I write in a range of romance subgenres including erotic romance, contemporary, sweet, paranormal/fantasy fiction and historical. I hope to continue writing as long as my ideas keep flowing out from my mind. In early 2014 I experienced my own personal love story, when I married my one true love. I now live together with my husband in London.

    The Earl’s Ward

    Chapter 1

Kate finally plucked up the courage to knock on the closed study door after waiting nervously, pacing up and down the hallway and going over in her head again and again what she needed to say to the Earl when she finally saw him.

Who is it? Come in, and don’t keep on banging. I cannot hear myself think, came a deep voice almost immediately.

Kate took a deep breath before opening the door and stepping into the one room on the large manor estate that she had never, until now, been given access to.

So, what is it that you are seeking from me so desperately?

Kate turned to trace the direction of the voice. She tried to keep her shock and wonder from her expression as she became faced with peculiar objects spread across the walls and floor, none that she had ever seen the likes of before. There were also several piles of books spread out on several tables.

I saw you from my window a week ago. I was expecting you to send for me earlier. When you didn’t, I thought I would take it upon myself to see you. I wanted to speak to you on an important matter.

Kate did not know what was coming over her. All of a sudden, she felt herself go tongue tied as she looked into a mesmerising pair of deep blue eyes.

The Earl seemed slightly older and somehow manlier from when she had seen him last around five years ago. He had the same dark blonde hair that was slightly longer than what was in fashion and perfect chiselled features, although the growth of hair across his chin and part of his cheeks masked a large part of his handsome face.

Oh, Kate, dear Kate, is that you? Let me take a look at you, he sounded enthusiastic as he walked to her, putting down a strange long metal object onto the table next to him.

He lifted her arms at her sides to inspect her as you might do a rare doll. Kate could not help but blush deeply as the Earl eagerly looked her over from head to toe.

My, my, you have grown into a real beauty. You are almost unrecognisable from that dangly awkward girl that I saw when I last set my eyes upon you. Your father would have been very proud of you, the Earl remarked with a warm smile.

My lord, I am not so sure about that.

Kate tried to hide the pain and bitterness away from her voice as she thought of her father who had left her some years ago.

Please, Kate, do not look so upset. Perhaps it was not wise of me to mention your father. I am sure you still miss him, as do I. He was my teacher after all, the one who opened my eyes to the larger world around me and made me an avid explorer.

I am well, my lord, please do not worry.

Kate, enough with the formalities. There is no need for you to call me my lord. My name is Matthew, please address me as so, at least when we are home in our own residence. I do not want us to be strangers; you are my ward, after all. Your father entrusted me with your safety and well being so I would like us to have a closer, less formal relationship.

Actually, my l...Matthew, that is why I wanted to come and talk to you today, Kate responded, calmly stopping herself from questioning his confident words on the matter of looking after her well being.

She wondered if he thought it had actually gone unnoticed by her that he had been more than happy to go off on his travels for years on end, sparing very little thought about her whilst he left her in the hands of a governess, a kindly housekeeper who saw to her needs as a mother might, and the Earl’s own sister who was kindly chaperoning her for the London season along with her own daughters.

Of course, you did say you had come to ask me about something, please take a seat at my desk.

    Is this a map?

Kate looked down with curiosity at the large sheet of paper spread across his desk with markings as they took a seat opposite to each other.

Yes, it’s a map of Africa, I am trying to prepare for my next journey.

    You’re travelling again?!

Kate tried not to sound too disappointed but knowing that Matthew was already planning for his next exit out of England increased her resolve to achieve what she had come for.

Yes, in a couple of months. You know me. I get itchy feet if I stay in one place for too long.

No, I don’t know you at all; Kate would have liked to say. Instead, she made her expression look agreeable.

Matthew, I wanted to ask your permission...

Before you say anything, Kate, I want to apologize for not coming to seek you out sooner. It’s no excuse but I just got caught up trying to handle everything all at once. All of my family affairs had piled up on me and I knew I would not hear the last of it from my older sister if I did not immediately see to business first. You know what she is like with organization and tradition. Gosh, you wouldn’t think it but inheriting a title like an Earl can be quite tiring at times, especially if you are first most an explorer like myself.

The Earl finished his rambling as if he was sensing that Kate remained unsympathetic to his plight.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I am sorry for not asking to see you as soon as I arrived back but now I promise you that you will have my full attention. Now, what is it that you want to ask me?

Matthew, I would like your permission to marry.

Kate was relieved when she finally got her words out.

Marry! the Earl seemed alarmed as he raised his voice.

Yes, marry, like a lady my age ought to.

Really, how old are you? Remind me.

I am twenty one, twenty two in a couple months time. It is perfectly acceptable for a woman my age to marry. In fact, it is the norm and your sister says that I would do well to wed.

Well, I guess you are both right and Russell, your father, would have wanted to see you well settled, I guess, Matthew conceded. "If that is what you want, then let me not hold you back. Feel
