God’s Kind of Faith - Aaron S. Winter

    Introduction

In 2011, God told me to do a series on Faith. This gave me a great deal of excitement, and expectation that God was going to do something miraculous. As I began to pray into it, the Lord revealed to me that the Body of Christ as a whole had lost faith, thus God led me to do a series on faith because it plays such a key role in the life of believers.

When I began, I started to understand why the Church had lost it’s of understanding faith. Out of all the books, videos and other materials that could be found on the subject, they were vague, incomplete, or misleading.

Part of the problem was that even the leadership of the Body of Christ didn’t have a clear understanding of what faith is, nor did the Church have a working knowledge of how to use it. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by a word of God, and if the Body of Christ doesn’t hear about faith, then they won’t have much of it to work with.

Thus, I began the series by first defining what faith is and then expounding on it from there, attempting to cover every angle. Within this book, I will give in detail the discoveries that I have made during that series and give you workable knowledge that you can apply in your life.

    Chapter One

    What is Faith?

    T

he intent of this book is to develop a theological platform that will enhance the Body of Christ’s awareness of faith by first coming to a better understanding of what faith is, how it operates and then how it can be applied in our everyday lives.

To fully understand faith, we must realize that the invisible supernatural dimensions of heaven are as real as the one we can see with our own eyes. Just because we cannot see it, doesn’t mean it does not exist. For instance, we cannot see oxygen; however it is vital to every living human being for our continued existence. It would be erroneous to imply that oxygen is fiction just because it is not seen in the natural by our own two eyes.

    2 Corinthians 4:18 says:

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Developing faith that is alive and active is vital to the walk of every believer. Faith by its very nature is alive, it is active, and connects believers through the Holy Spirit to Jesus Christ. Faith is a key that unlocks things in the heavens and brings them into the earth. It creates an open door by which the reality of Christ becomes manifest on the Earth.

In fact, God has given us a set of keys to establish His kingdom, and faith is one of those keys. Jesus said in Matthew 16:19: I will give you the keys of the kingdom; and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

By exercising the key of faith, we can use it to bind up demons and loosen the saving, healing, and delivering power of God in the earth just as it is in heaven.

Jesus said in Matthew 13:31-32: The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree so big that birds of the air come and perch in its branches….

Later in chapter 17, a man approaches Jesus, kneels before him, and says: Lord, have mercy on my son, He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the lake. I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him. Jesus then rebukes the demon within the child and the child was healed instantly.

Later on his disciples are embarrassed and asked why they could not drive out the demon.

    Jesus says this:

Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

Jesus’ response to His disciples was full of insight into the topic of faith for that generation. Now I don’t know about you, but I did not grow up on a farm, so maybe you’re like me, and have actually never seen a mustard seed in person.

Jesus spoke of the mustard seed because the culture was an agricultural society that needed crops and gardens for economic livelihood. Therefore, Jesus was actually speaking their common everyday language. He was communicating to them about both the Kingdom of God and faith using common everyday items to which they were familiar with.

In today’s technological world, we could compare faith to items that we use today that have the same kind of effect. A microchip perhaps works as a great example of an extremely small component that can perform at very high levels.

For instance, Jesus today could say of faith: "If you have faith as small as a microchip you can move the
