      A drug is any substance taken to change a person’s physical, mental, or emotional state. Some drugs are legal and others are illegal. Some drugs are harmful and others are helpful. When drugs are taken for medical reasons, they are helpful. Some drugs aren’t taken for medical reasons; rather, they’re taken to alter the way the brain functions or to experience a high.
