Quite enjoyed this novel set in Lancashire north pennines around Pendle Hill. Henry Christie thinks he's off on a pleasant walk though the Pennines with an old American friend, but then the snow comes down and throws him and his friend into the midst of a gang warfare in a small village. Encouraged me to read the other stories in the series.
