Terri had never noticed the door before. It was just to the left of the massive oak desk; its green and gold surface shimmered in the flickering fluorescent light. It was not a door you would miss with an optical illusion pattern carved in to it and little shapes all around the edge. How could she have missed it? Was it added last night?? The door made her survey the room she so often worked in but hardly ever noticed. Mr. Ferrum’s office was very large, easily twice as big as her shared two room apartment. A museum of technological advances of the last 100 years decorated the walls and shelves. A collection of little tables showcased especially rare pieces and filled in the large space. The room felt cozy with all its kitsch and antiques.
Terri’s hand stilled from her note taking as the two men paused their meeting. She focused back on them. Deciding she had just noticed the door, because the meeting was so long and dry...
Mr. Ferrum and turned to her. Well that will be all for now. Please have that ready by lunch. Thank you, Terri.
Yes, sir.
She replied, relieved to be dismissed at last.
She walked back to her desk in reception. Mr. Ferrum’s associate leered at her until she closed the door. His twisted and greasy appearance contrasted sharply against Mr. Ferrum’s impeccably cut suit and sharp good looks. Mr. Gnasher was a new client, this was only his second time at the office. Terri hoped it would be the last time she had to see him. His leer made her skin crawl, every time he passed by her desk he tried to hit on her. Her congenial attempts to put him off had made no impact on his persistence. She tried to shrug
