    When veteran Tampa detective Jack Martin’s partner retires, he is stuck with a know-it-all rookie by the name of Jimmy Williams. Jack’s protests are to no avail and he is stuck mentoring his new partner. They immediately are assigned a murder case of a body found in Key West, with an ice pick sticking out of the victim’s head. Not just any murder but one involving a security software code programmer for the Department of Homeland Security.

    They are chasing the little evidence they have when they find another murder and then another. Their investigation takes them across Florida from Tampa to Tarpon Springs, and Key West as well as Richmond Virginia. The result points to a potential breach in the country’s border security program.

    Could all the murders be tied together? Could a federal agency be involved? Could there be a government cover up? Jack and Jimmy seem to think so and their pursuit takes them deep into the bare knuckle world of Washington politics.
