About this ebook

Currently, our schools are technologically behind in a way that other industries could never withstand. I see attempts to integrate into the cyber-world, with mobile usage for quizzes, SmartBoards and iPads and Kindles, and many web-based activities. Occasionally, I even see some in-classroom online discussions using social media. But on the whole, educators tend to ignore the new and growing world of the Internet in replace of 'old-fashioned' teaching. This book has been created to help encourage educators to embrace social media into their classrooms and to feel more confident in doing so.

Today, social media drives business transactions, information relay, and relationships, among other things, and it has become a force to be reckoned with.

So I thought, why don’t we use social media in our education system today? Currently, our schools are technologically behind in a way that other industries could never withstand. I see attempts to integrate into the cyber-world, with cell phone and pager usage for quizzes, SmartBoards and iPads and Kindles, and many web-based activities. Occasionally, I even see some in-classroom online discussions using social media. But on the whole, educators tend to ignore the new and growing world of the Internet in terms of old-fashioned teaching.

To me, this lack of integration is foolish. With my knowledge of the social media world, it is apparent to me how much better our education could be if we
