    Pre reading:
Unfortunately I picked up this one before the first one, but I've seen the show so I won't be too confused

    Post reading:
It was so bad! By about 70 pages in, I decided I was going to hate every single second of it, so I live blogged my hate reading and deciding I'm going to read the whole series and live blog it. I just can't take it seriously, but at least I got to laugh at how much I hated it and complain about it on Tumblr?

On the plus side, it only took me one day to read so it's not like it took a whole lot of time away from me.

A true guilty pleasure. Someday I will go back and read the others in the series.

I give this book 2 stars, down from 4 for the first book. It was a bit disappointing. Same gossip & drama, but it was less sharp, less witty, had less spark. Too shallow, lacks all the depth and heart and character growth of the TV show. I still have hope for book #3 though, wish me luck!

Its at this point that the books and the tv show differ, and believe me, the show is doing the whole thing more favours than the books. Yes, I know, that bad.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first book but it was still a quick, fun read. I am just not a fan of this Dan Humphries. He is a bit of a dork. His obsession with Serena is a bit much. I also needed more Chuck Bass. I began reading this after becoming a fan of the show, so the differences may be influencing my thoughts on the books.

This one was a little more depressing than the last; the relationships that were healed have fallen apart and Blair especially had some hard times. It's fun to read about their lives and struggles, but as the kind of book I read for brain candy, this one fell a little short.

Embarrassing to admit, but I liked it. Mind-fluff for sure.

Blair, Serena, Nate, Vanessa and Dan are all getting ready to head off to college but before that they need to finish high school without partying too much and try to figure out where their hearts lie. The main characters are well developed, and even though this is not the first book in the series, as a first time reader to the series I felt I knew the characters well enough to relate to them. The plot is up and down and follows many different characters, it's like a soap opera in a book. The setting of upper class, white New York city is well defined. This book would be good in a teens section due to mature content of drinking, drugs and sex. The short chapters and "internet postings" by Gossip Girl make this book easy to pick up and put down when needed.

Just like candy. So fun to read - makes me feel guilty and ashamed that I am not reading something more high brow or challenging - but seriously - so much fun...

I read this book for SSR and it was really great after i finished the first book i couldn't wait to get this one. This is book is about the girls going to colleages and applying for the ones they picked. Also about the relationship between Blair and Nate and someone gets in between and Balir's mother gets married and her family gets even bigger.

Definitely fluff reading. Most of the teens in the book are very rich and lead spoiled lives. The sex in the book did not shock me at all and seemed somewhat chaste in comparison to real life teen experiences. What amazed me was the alcohol consumption. We all know that teens score beer and sometimes hard liquor easily and drink up at parties. However, to be at dinner with your parents and order a vodka? Are the underage drinking laws completely ignored in NYC?

Anyone who likes gossip will like this series of books. This series catalogs three rich teenagers senior year of high school. The author Cecily Von Ziegesar weaves a scrumptious tale of lust and lies. A very good book to take to the beach.

(#36 in the 2004 Book Challenge)My thoughts on this book are very much like my thoughts on the first book in this series: it's somewhat scandalous (for the teen market), lacking in any morality at all (this may or may not be true, I have to think more on this one, but at least on the surface it's lacking), yet strangely well-written and it makes one want to read the next book. Which I'm sure I will.Grade: BRecommended: Turn back before it's too late! This is like the sarlac of current YA fiction.
