About this ebook

THE JORDAN SERIES of novels successfully builds up to an ultimate ending that will leave you delightfully shouting, “Hooray for our side!”

The inheritance of THE THORN OF JESUS leaves JORDAN encumbered by a responsibility that he is not yet mature enough to handle. The Thorn is magnificently capable of working miracles, but only once per person. Against his wishes, his wife uses that power to make their daughter into the beautifully artistic person that envisions her own dream. Later when their daughter is desperately ill, THE THORN is of no use to them. In time, even JORDAN weakens and uses THE THORN for a devilish desire, which immediately causes it to turn to dust. Years will pass prior to THE THORN returning to its majestic form, which allows it to save the family of JORDAN.

If you are looking for adventure, then you will want to check out this ambitious blend of religion, action and romance! There is just enough of the right kind of detail to make you feel as if you are there and living among characters that are congenial and believable. All of the characters present memorable and deeply human emotions, as they traverse the pitfalls of life. The intense relationships between them are as much a part of this story as the twisting sequence of events.

THE JORDAN SERIES presents a roller coaster of emotions that will not let the reader ignore them, while the complexities of the characters will make you wish you could chase their dreams and tolerate their fears.

THE JORDAN SERIES blends action, romance, history and geography all into wonderful stories of religious diversity. Travel with JORDAN as he enjoys life, marries, travels across half the known world, suffers terribly, makes a fortune and settles down with a place of his own, simply to be torn apart by the demands of a lovely woman.

Based on a myriad of actual occurrences, these stories are written in the time honored ortho-thespian composition to allow the more esteemed reader an impression of viewing an on stage performance with less fluff and additional moments of value.

Roy E. Hoover

Roy Hoover was born the fifth of twelve children. The son of a strict and poor Schoolteacher, he was raised in a poverty ridden section of Southern Indiana, where violence was a way of life. His mother was a very loving and religious person that filled the vacuum left by his father, and she persistently encouraged the family to do better. Leaving home at 18, he served with the First Cavalry Division in Korea, volunteered for a covert mission in Southeast Asia, and is an honorably discharged Vietnam-era veteran. A few weeks after his 20th birthday, Hoover was released from duty with the Army, and returned to Indiana. Three months later, he married the love of his life. Although, happier than he had ever been, he could not shake the wanderlust in his soul. He gave up a secure Government job, and moved his family around the USA for a few years, prior to permanently settling in Mesa, Arizona. Hoover worked more than 60 hours a week to support his family, while making his way through college. He received his BS degree from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, and his Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, Malibu, California. During his stay at Pepperdine, he wrote articles for the Law School Newspaper and for the Law Journal. He completed Law School in two years, and worked for a short time with the California Public Defender's Office, prior to returning to his first interest, engineering. As an Engineer, he thoroughly enjoyed his career and involvement with spacecraft, satellites, insulin pumps, and heart pacemakers. Hoover shared many wonderful years with his wife until her battle with cancer ended. Alone and feeling lost, he began to write some of the stories that he had hidden away for a long time. As the dreams and imagination that sustained him during his years of poverty came forth, they began to merge with the memories that dwelled in the backwaters of his soul, and the combination fashioned novels for the happenstance of everyday living.
