About this ebook

It s an E-mergency! The letter E took a tumble and the only way to get her back on her foot is for people to stop using her. But who can take her place? The other letters have to make a decision ASAP. Z is too sleepy and Y asks way too many questions. Thankfully, O rolls in to try and save the day. Now E can rost up and got bottor . . . as long as ovorybody follows the rulos. Chock-full of verbal and visual puns, this zany book is sure to tickle both the brain and the funny bone.

The idea is great, but the text is impossible to read. I also had to go back because I couldn't understand a passage.

    The illustrations are OK.

The first half of the book deserves four stars, while the second half deserves two, so I gave three stars.

Very entertaining book. Fun facts and super creative. Review by my 4 year old daughter. "It was good and funny. The letter O and E were too funny because they switched."

E is injured, other letters pitch in to help, and chaos ensues. Lively, zany fun.

This is a colorful text with all the letter combinations. Letters are characters in the story and many letters can be seen talking in the background saying comments related to his letter or letter combination. This part is a detail that older readers would take interest in. The story is about the missing letter E. The problem is reading the text without the letter E. My children were upset that I was saying the words wrong. They couldn't understand why I was reading this way. I tried to explain the the words were written that way, and that E is a very valuable letter in the English langugage. This story could take on several lessons for children. Subsequent activities could be replacing other letters, or writing a note without the letter e, or some other letter. The book is a different take on alphabet books, because it doesn't start with A and end with Z. All the letters are involved, but in different capasities, based on their importance in the written language. I enjoyed this book and would read it to my students at any age from pre-school to sixth grade. I think Middle school students would have less trouble with the missing letters and would be able to write notes with missing letters. I also think you need to be an experienced reader to read this story aloud, it isn't one for a new reader to pick up and start trying to decipher.

"E" has an accident and "O" has to take her place. "E" cant get better untill everyone stops using her. Words aro spollod liko this now! This is a cute and fun book about letters. A class could also have fun decoding the words that are hard to read because there is no "E"!

Fun! Yes it is hard to read at times and the jokes will go by younger kids, but worth the effort and older kids should love it!

Oh, how I love this book. It's clever, funny and a true challenge to read out loud (think about NOT using any "e"s in words, and you'll understand why). But I truly fell head over heals for this book when I learned that the co-author, Ezra Fields-Meyer, is a young, autistic child who caught Lichtenheld's notice after creating an amazing animated short called "Alphabet House", which is the inspiration for this book. Ezra's story is so inspiring and heartwarming, and chronicled in a book by his father, Tom Fields-Meyer, called "Following Ezra".
