Way to Go is the thrilling second book of the Ryan Doherty Mystery series. Author Jennifer Moss delivers an excellent mystery suspense with colorful characters and an intriguing plot. When Jessica Way is discovered murdered in her hotel room, Detective Ryan Doherty is assigned to solve the case. Not only must Ryan find the killer but also Jessica’s missing 12 year old daughter Hannah. There is no shortage of suspects especially given the open marriage shared by Jessica and her husband. Ryan is eager to find Hannah safe and employs the help of his psychic girlfriend, Catharine. Ryan and Catharine are fairly early in their relationship and it is fun to watch it continue to bud out. Catharine’s twin 19 year boys add tension and realism to their complicated match.Moss surrounds the reader in her world with fully developed characters and natural dialogue. The real life situations that her characters find themselves in allow the reader to fully engage and attach to them. Detective Ryan Doherty is a lovable nice guy whose relationship with Catharine is charming and romantic. I can’t wait to see more of this series. I highly recommend it!

I received an autographed copy of this book free from the author, through the Goodreads First Reads program. Thank You Jennifer Moss!I enjoyed reading this book and gave it 4 stars. I thought that the characters were human and the plot moved along well. The lead detective, Ryan Doherty, uses a psychic/empath as a consultant to help him solve cases. He is also in a relationship w. the psychic, started during a previous case covered in book 1, "Town Red", of the series. I have not read book 1, but I thought that this book read ok as a stand alone. I am going to add "Town Red" to my TBR list.I believe the use of psychics by police departments is fairly rare but not unheard of. This is the first murder mystery that I have read where a psychic is used as a consultant. It certainly helps to move the plot along, by sending Ryan to places where clues are found or where a murder is happening. This has all the elements for a "Castle" episode.
