About this ebook

No matter what the season, you'll love Santa's favorite - Vixen Mallory!

She can tease a man to death without even trying!

Welcome to Sodom's Crossing, just south of the equator -- well actually downtown Manhattan!

From her billboard in Times Square to her rare vertical photos in Playboy - the world was finding it easy to be Vixen-ized.

If you're missing your favorite soap - meet the zany cast of Always Tomorrow lead by Vixen Mallory! They are on a mission and Vixen is their bait!

Dan Falkner, ace reporter who'd come to do a story on the soap opera and the star that had taken the cable network and viewer-ship by storm.

Vikki had sworn to her fellow cast mates on Always Tomorrow that she would protect their secrets by being the sexy, unscrupulous siren on-camera and off - to the hilt. Making sure that investigative reporter Dan Falkner would focus on the illusion rather than the sweet, shy woman Vikki really was.

There was just one problem -- Vikki never imagined how easy it would be to enjoy being a vixen and take what she wanted. And she found she wanted Dan Falkner more than she had ever wanted any man.

Video Vixen - Elaine Raco Chase

What the reviewers are saying about Elaine Raco Chase -

Just reading the summary of this book makes you really want to read it. I love that. I was hooked from the synopsis. I’ve read a couple books by Elaine Raco Chase and they were just as amazing as this one. She is a very talented author. This book is very well written and I love the details. This story is hilarious in some parts. Well written and clever. (Caught in a Trap)

It's not often I find a story with characters that are well rounded and realistic. I can recommend this story as one of the better written Indy books I've come across. (Double Occupancy – on FB's Top 50 books to read after FSOG for over 2 years!)

Wow! Just absolutely Wow! I read this book in one night, I was so taken by the characters. This book was beautifully written, and the characters are so easy to fall in love with. My heart melted in an instant and I giggled so much through this book. Amazing read! (Rules of the Game – Voted #1 Erotic Romance by Turning Pages)

"One of my must have's in any book is a plot - preferably one that has sharp-witted characters who are smart, independent and feel real. Elaine Raco Chase did not disappoint in creating the characters to exist within the world of design, architecture and luxury developments.

While there are two billion how-to articles on creating dialog that is both paced properly and sounds believable, Elaine has a book, full of dialog: fast paced, snarky, funny, businesslike, casual, even sexy. And it ALL sounds like a conversation you could overhear at any time, in many situations. That technique alone makes the book a worthwhile read - that it is combined and integrated into a tightly written, fast paced and sexy story makes this worth every one of the 5 stars." (Designing Woman)

I must admit that I hated Noah for the first part of the book. What he did was beyond rotten and I cried. Then I caught a clue that later turned into fact. I now love Noah and I loved him with Marlayna. Funny, sexy read and now I am spending all my money on more books by this author. (Lady be Bad)

A MUST READ!! Beautiful story about a girl who has been broken inside...or so she believes. I'm so glad I read this book. It was so moving! As you read this book you will laugh maybe even cry a little but you will find yourself falling in love with all the characters in this book! You will be pulled into the story as it captures not only your attention but your heart! (One Way or Another is a Classic Retro-Read and not updated)

"No Easy Way Out is a true Cinderella story!! Virginia is a highly intellectual woman with her Ph.D. She buries herself in her work and has no fun life at all! Her friends talk her into attending a masquerade ball and she meets Prince Charming who is dressed like a bandit and she is dressed like a sexy bunny! Well they have a very hot time on the balcony and when the clock strikes midnight she runs off in true Cinderella fashion! When she returns to work, you guessed it ...the bandit turns out to be one of her co-workers!! What follows is loaded with fun, trickery, love and lots and lots of laughs! (No Easy Way Out is a Classic Retro-Read – not updated)

"With a touch of sophistication, plenty of sizzling sex, and a liberal dose of humor, Special Delivery poses the age-old question: Is there such a thing as love at first sight? After reading Roxanne and Bram's story, I'm thinking there is."

Again, Elaine Raco Chase creates dialogue that repeatedly reinforces my belief that hers is some of the best I have read (or heard). There is humor, snark and gorgeous descriptions that place you in the wilds of Montana, with the never fail to amuse stops in the action. There is steam, there is swearing, and most of all - this is a feel good book that will have you laughing and smiling throughout. (Dare the Devil)

This book has a fantastic storyline about a strong business woman who is feeling unchallenged in her life choice. Her best friend wants to help in more ways than one! The author has an exceptional way with the written word and the characters are well described and very interesting. I enjoyed this book immensely and will read more by this author in the future. (Best Laid Plans)

What a hoot this story is as our heroine leads Daniel on a merry chase of is she or isn't she?" But, though our hero may be infatuated, his ability to see through Vixen/Victoria's façade is a little clearer than either of them anticipated. Video Vixen is a bird's-eye view of the workings behind the scenes of a daytime soap, and it has a very authentic feel, giving the whole story credibility. With a lot of humor and a touch of food for thought, Elaine Raco Chase has created an excellent read, especially for those who love a good soap opera. And don't we all?"

Many romances are based on: attraction/lust/something 'clicking' at first sight. And these two have it, in spades. Rob is very much like my teenager, instant 'love' of anyone and anything...be it the new girl in school or a Wii game. Fast, fractious, and then I'm hit with who? Loved the story, loved the well-defined characters, loved the teenager - it's such a dialogue heavy book it would make a great TV movie. (Calculated Risk)

Note: Unless marked as Retro-Reads...all eBooks have been updated! And all are available as audiobooks.

Hands behind his head, Dan lounged back into the chair.  "So you’re all nice.  I wonder ... His dark gaze centered on her anger-flushed features; his voice was low, suggestive, and goading.  Even you, Victoria Kirkland?  Has today been one of your more memorable performances as Vixen Mallory?"

Fire-tipped fingers curved like elegant talons, reached out, gripped his tie, and turned it into a silk noose.  Vikki hauled a startled Dan Falkner up from his chair stopping only when his face was nose-to-nose with hers.  Oh, no, Daniel Webster Falkner, I’m for real.  Ruby lips spoke heated words against his mouth.  I’m the spice you’re looking for.  The only thing you have to wonder about is how much seasoning you can handle.  Vikki released her hold on his tie; her hands pushed against his shoulders and sent him sprawling backward.  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to tangle and seduce another man.

Raw nerves fueled by pure adrenaline propelled Vikki to the sound stage.  Charlie – her breathing came in jerky gasps as she spoke to the bald, casually dressed director  —Steve and I faxed this scene on Friday, and I’m really primed, so can we just go ahead and tape it?

Charlie stared at her for a long moment, nodded and began issuing final taping orders as Vikki took her marked position on the office-furnished stage set and spoke to her costar.

Shielded to the left of camera three, Dan quietly watched an unobstructed view of the actors.  The scene was between Vixen Mallory and her husband’s business partner.  A spectacular verbal battle ensued between two stunning performers.

Dan became mesmerized by Vikki’s every word, gesture, and movement.  The scene was choreographed so slickly that when the climax came and Vikki was the recipient of a slap that sent her head reeling in a powerful whiplash, Dan jumped toward the stage.

A grinning cameraman halted him and jerked a thumb toward the effects man, who produced the sound that made the blow so realistic.  Uncurling his balled fist, Dan had to again remind himself this was all illusion.

A note from author, Elaine Raco Chase –

    ––––––––

One of the reasons I wrote Video Vixen was to highlight the similarities between daytime TV soap operas bringing in the money to support primetime television the same way romance novels brought in money to support other publishing efforts.  Well, that was 1983 – when soaps were in their heyday.

Today, even as I was updating this book – two of my favorite soaps:  Guiding Light and As The World Turns had already disappeared from CBS daytime.  Now All My Children  and One Life To Live, each having over a four-decade run, are coming to an end – to be replaced by more health programming and talk shows.

I remember coming home from school and turning on All My Children to see what Erica Kane, who was my age, was doing – she certainly had an exciting life.  TV Guide calls her unequivocally the most famous soap opera character in the history of daytime TV!

Gosh, did I say Erica?  I meant Susan Lucci!!  But that’s exactly what the soaps wanted...for the viewers to relate to the characters, their lives, their wants and their needs.  Then suddenly, primetime displayed series soaps:  Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing and Falcon Crest giving us the wonderful characters of J.R. Ewing, Alexis Colby, Abby Cunningham and Angela Channing.  All became immensely popular figures that audiences loved to hate.

Thus, Vixen Mallory was born!  And boy, was she fun to write.  She’s everything I never was, never dreamed I could be, never dreamed anybody but a celluloid temptation could be.  When Video Vixen was published – ‘gifts’ were sent to the publisher for her and ultimately sent on to me.  Two stood out – one was from a group of prisoners who wanted a naked photo of Vixen for their cells!  And the other was a pair of the sexiest, black lace, red trimmed panties - a gift for Vixen!  Whew!

Unfortunately, both daytime and primetime soaps have been fading...luckily Vixen can live on in eBook form along with the printed page.  I did do quite a bit of re-writing to make the soap information up-to-date and I launched a TV satellite to put Vixen on cable.  I also added in a few more scenes and enhanced the love scenes a bit as well  Ahhhh....more fun for me and hopefully for you.

MADD – Mothers Against Drunk Drivers is a fantastic group.  Having been a victim of a drunk driver – he got a $175 ticket for driving without a license and under the influence – I got 18 months of rehab, everything twisted or broken but my nose, and permanent eye damage from being hit so violently that despite a seat belt, I went through a windshield.  Oh, it was Saturday afternoon at 1 pm....I was stopped for a red light...he was drinking and failed to notice!!!

So don’t drink and drive, call a cab, use a designated driver, watch your teens – the life you save maybe your own!

    Enjoy!

    Chapter One

The three main topics of conversation among the luncheon crowd in Maxwell’s Plum were the current price of gold, Wall Street’s noontime rally and yesterday’s fifteen inches of snow that paralyzed Manhattan, closing both LaGuardia and Kennedy airports.  Of course, all that changed when she walked in wearing the now notorious coat.

The fur was mink – boot-length, double-breasted, and cut like a man’s jacket.  Luxurious black pelts, lined in her shade of scarlet silk, that rippled and flowed over the tall, well-proportioned woman cocooned inside.  The wide shawl collar and oversized black mink beret framed an equally notorious face.

Elbows nudged elbows, gazes left their windowed study of snowplow architecture, and stock market advice ceased to be bantered back and forth.  The famed restaurant’s excellent cuisine was abandoned.  Appetites were piqued but not by the food.  Hungry patrons let their eyes feast on an infinitely more interesting entrée.

Jerry Corry was the only man in the room not watching her.  And why should he?  He knew her intimately.  From the long, luxuriously wavy chestnut hair with its distinctive widow’s peak, the high, smooth forehead, the straight nose, crystal-clear blue eyes that pierced a man’s soul, full lips and slightly square jaw all sitting atop a full-breasted yet supple five-foot eight-inch frame.

With his shoulders relaxed against the leather-backed chair, Jerry viewed the diner’s reactions with supreme satisfaction.  When she stopped at his table, he rose, kissed her on one winter-flushed cheek, and heard a chorus of envious masculine sighs.

I know you don’t have much time, so I took the liberty of ordering:  French onion soup, salad niçoise, and limed mineral water.  He watched as the mink was shrugged off, revealing a black knit dress with a vivid red Chanel jacket.  His brown gaze shifted to study her face.  You look tired.

One precisely defined eyebrow arched and a smile lifted the corners of scandalously scarlet lips.  I did have an exhausting morning.  Her throaty voice purred a subliminal message.  I seduced my virginal eighteen-year-old stepson in the hot tub while my crippled husband played grateful voyeur.  Then I posed for a revealing fashion layout.  Now I’ll take care of you and later –  thick black velvet lashes lowered demurely — I’m scheduled to ravish the local minister who has been making quite a nuisance of himself.

Laughter and a pleased expression etched Jerry Corry’s angular face.  Victoria Kirkland, at last you are enjoying the role of Vixen Mallory!

You’re giving me no choice!  Came her tart rejoinder.  Vikki leaned forward; one scarlet-coated fingernail tapped the crystal on his gold watch.  "Hundreds of eyes are boring into my back this very minute.  Hopefully they’re all
