About this ebook

Powerful, provocative, and raw, self-described punany poets take readers on an extraordinary erotic journey, melding poetry, short stories, and prose to explore the essence of black male and female sexuality.

The Punany Poets are pioneers of erotic entertainment, creating lush literary works that also encourage self-empowerment and safer sex. Punany Poets' founder Jessica Holter, whose urban classic Punany: The Hip Hop Psalms was featured on HBO's Real Sex, has adapted the Poets' compositions into a groundbreaking anthology created to rouse the senses and inspire the imagination.

Vivid, compelling poems and prose pieces deal with every facet of modern love and lust, and blend tantalizing sensual imagery with an underlying message of urban-rooted AIDS awareness. Never preachy, always original, and guaranteed to stimulate the individual and the couple, Verbal Penetration is unique among poetry anthologies—a riveting, multi-dimensional erotic experience with heart, soul, and message.

    Verbal Penetration - Jessica Holter

    Dear Reader:

I’ve been a big fan and a friend of Jessica Holter for many years and I’m happy to be able to collaborate with her on this project. I hope that people will enjoy it.

Many of you may be familiar with the Punany Poets by their performances and appearance on HBO’s Real Sex.

Erotic poetry has exploded over the past decade with passion being the key element. Jessica Holter, the self-professed love child, has taken it to another level in this work. I’ve seen the future of the new sexual revolution and it’s the Punany Poets’ Verbal Penetration.

    BY Ghetto Girl Blue

    Let us pray.

    Let us ask

    the Mother Goddess

to guide our fingers as they caress

    our hearts,

    as we open

    our bodies,

    as they receive one another.

Let us ask the God’s for trust, worthiness of it and understanding one to another.

    And where there is danger,

let us look together into the night

    that hosts our ancestors

begging them for guidance away from it.

    Let us wash our bodies.

Let us stand naked in the light

    before one another and praise

    nature’s most divine art.

Let there be no fear between us.

    Let there be good loving

that is as warm and as safe as

the womb which is our center.

Let our bodies be great vessels

feeding positive energy into the world

    as we fuck.

    Let us talk about sex.

Let us fuck while we do it.

Let us strap on the armor

    suited for modern times,

    squeeze ourselves into

    the thin line

    between lust and love

    and jack them off.

    Just to keep it hot,

we will extend an open invitation to

    prostitution

    porn

    and

    molestation.

Let us be on one accord as we

enter through the gates of the

    Sexual Revolution

so that our enemies will find only

    solidarity amongst our ranks.

We will ask Poetry to have that

    smooth brother, Music

To pace this erotic escapade …

    with bass deep enough

    to skinny dip in.

    Let us lick.

    Let us bite.

    Let us

    cuss and cum together

    Let us

    let our hair down

    and sweat.

    We will laugh like children

as we play with our toys.

    Let us mentally masturbate.

    Let us mentally masturbate.

    May we know no fear

as we take this erotic journey

    through the darkest valleys

    and highest peaks of

    Verbal Penetration.

    … and

    Just when you thought

    it was safe

    to stop coming …

    Let us begin again.

    Let us fuck.

    Hey

    BY Jessica Holter

    Hey,

    he said

    a cheek full of chew

    picking up the pink bouquet

    talking to the minister but

    addressing him as your honor,

    Tell me again

    why a dead whore

    needs flowers in hell.

    Pushing the flowers

    into his wife’s arms,

    he spat chew into his

    once lover’s grave.

    Punany Narration

    BY Ghetto Girl Blue

My foster mother said I talk too much.

My pastor said I had the gift of gab.

    Everybody thought I was fast.

AIDS came out of nowhere, just when I had become an

entertainment journalist, writing chronicles of backstage antics.

    Before anyone knew what hit them, Punany was born;

Born of my memories of rape and molestation; Born of the

similar stories women told me; Born of the shock of Eazy E’s

untimely death. See sex was raised by an uninhibited,

dictating father who could only love a bound pussy, and a

mother with one foot shackled to the stove and the other

    to a bed post.

Punany is the culmination of erotic words, laced through

soulful grooves, laid on top of a funk-stained hip-hop dance

bed. She is bold. She is powerful. She knows just who she is

and whose mind she wants to fuck into the wee hours of the

    Sexual Revolution.

The PUNANY POETS were some sassy writers, with more

guts than any G I ever knew. We didn’t have money, or many

friends. Most of the third eye poetry community had its

revolutionary tongue stuck like a needle on a scratched 45 …

The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be televised.

Punany busted on the television screen like,

    Badddamn!

The revolution is between my thighs,

    let the fearful beware

    Her soldiers do not apologize.

    Casting Satan

    BY Jessica Holter

    Before you

    command

    Satan to

    get thee

    behind you …

    make sure

    that

    God

    has

    your

    back.

    Otherwise

    keep that

    demon

    where

    you can see him.

    Your Black Fist

    BY Ghetto Girl Blue

    I want my mouth

    to speak nothing but praise

    when speaking of you

    My beautiful black messiah

I want to be the key

    to the rusty cage

    that imprisons black love

    use me

    I want to love you

as I love my own hands

    with necessity

    with appreciation

    with respect

    In the bedroom

    In the boardroom

    In the street

    and at the table

    give you respectable

    representation

    expecting only truth

    of you

    never fearing it

I want to be a queen who

    makes you proud too

    One who makes you understand

that making love to me is

    among your most noble deeds

In me your seed is not wasted

    but savored and manifested

before it is measured & devoured

    broken down and regenerated

on my tongue and through my womb

in the game of your school

as historic files of your pedigree

I want to work out the kinks

    of my trying childhood socialization

    and inferior education with you

    share fantasies and dreams

    make plans to follow through

    Verbally arrest you

    before working the kinks

    back into our hair

Lay and cool down in our sweat

I want to be your stairs

where there were only flat lands

to let down my hair for you

    to climb into heaven

I want to be the chant

    in your railroad song

    and to go the distance

    of the track with you

    Like the Panthers

    insist

    like Montgomery bus strikers

    persist

in the taking of our destiny into our own hands

I want to be the revolution

Make Love in Love, and be safe always. Gone are the days when AIDS was a disease reserved for gays.

—National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

AIDS is a pandemic, with no respect of person, lifestyle, or religious preference … It kills indiscriminately, destroying not only lives, but generations through the heterosexual female womb.

In 1995 heterosexual sex accounted for 10 percent of all AIDS cases; today it accounts for 90 percent of all new infections.
