About this ebook

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any hotter…Beau and Ash’s sinful romance now includes super scandalizing, never-before-published scenes in this special, eBook-only companion to the steamy printed original.

There was something wicked about Beau that drew me to him. What was wrong with me? Why did I want to sin so badly?

Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.

Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.

Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist...

Ashton Gray is tired of playing the perfect little princess. Tired of trying to please her religious parents and make herself worthy of the one and only Sawyer Vincent. Beau Vincent is nothing like his perfect cousin. He's sexy, dangerous, and alluring as all get out. In other words, the one guy she should stay away from. Still, she finds herself drawn to him despite everything. What's a girl to do?

Sound fairly familiar? Let's be honest, The Vincent Boys doesn't really bring anything new to the table in terms of story line. The plot is very predictable, but I pretty much knew that going in. Still, I can't deny that it was a pretty scrumptious way to pass a couple of hours. It might take a while for you to get hooked, but once you are it's difficult not to finish.

I had a love/hate relationship with Ashton most of the book. A good portion of the story is spent in Ashton's head, and it isn't always an easy place to be. Her definitions of a "good girl" versus a "bad girl" are fully fueled by her parents, and yet I feel like she was so hard on herself. I can't deny that I hated that she cheated, but the story wouldn't make sense otherwise. Plus, well, it is Beau after all.

Which leads me to Beau and Sawyer Vincent. Night and day, these two are pretty delicious each in their own way. I'm always a sucker for the bad boy. I admit it. Glines' puts these two at odds to allow for some tension, but really it is Beau that shines through it all. A bad boy with a heart of gold. If that doesn't draw you in, I really don't know what will. It definitely kept me reading.

I really felt like this book could have gone into a lot more depth at times. The relationship between Ashton and Beau went from zero to sixty in a matter of pages, and it was a little disconcerting. I felt no emotion for Ashton, even when things went badly for her. It honestly made me sad. Perhaps in the next book we'll dive deeper into the two of them. All in all though, The Vincent Boys ended up being enjoyable. I appreciated the Southern, small town charm that Abbi Glines worked into the story line, and of course I loved Beau. Give this a shot if you're looking for a sweet and quick read.

This started off similar to Under the Lights, and I had to actually go back and make sure it was not the same characters: Three friends since they were younger and a love triangle. I was not sure how I was going to feel about this since it seemed like it was just like re-reading the other. I am glad it took a totally different turn and that was just the set up for the story.I read this in one day when I was home sick from work, and I really enjoyed it. I liked the characters, but wish they were not in High School. There were some other issues, but it did not really take away from my enjoyment. Sawyer is non-existent until almost half way through the story. Once he comes back into the story, the real trouble and secrets start coming out. Overall, this was a fun read and I think it is something you will enjoy if you want something to read in one sitting. I will finish the series and will pick up some other reads from Abbi Glines.

I read this book in one sitting. Part of it was because it was only about 200 pages but mostly because it was a good story. Ashton, Beau, and Sawyer live in Grove, Alabama. They have been best friends since they were children. Ashton and Beau were partners in crime and Sawyer was always the one getting them out of trouble. Ashton(weird name for a girl, just saying) and Beau were basically inseparable, so it's surprising that she ended up being the girlfriend of Sawyer, the town saint.During Ashton and Sawyer's 3 year relationship, Ashton and Beau drifted apart and rarely ever speak. One day, however, Ashton happens to see him and his slutty girlfriend walking around drunk as hell. Sawyer is out of town and she decides that she should be a good samaritan and give them both a ride home. This decision changes her life forever. After she drops them out at their houses' her and Beau start “rekindling” their “friendship” while Sawyer is at camp with his family. The characters in this book were really fleshed out. And let me tell you, Beau is one angry teenager. While reading the book, it's easy to forget that's what they are. TEENAGERS. They seem a lot more... mature than most teenage characters. If you're looking for a quick read, look no further!

When I first started reading this I felt like I was cheating on Beau, but I quickly came to love Sawyer as well as Beau just acknowledged that though they were brother they were very different people. Sawyer has just lost the only girl he's ever loved to his own brother and now he must force his heart to let go and move on.. only trouble is he can't seem to escape seeing the two of them all over each other every time he turns around. Watching his Ashton all wrapped up in Beau's arms is an adjustment that won't be easy or painless to make. Sawyer is always portrayed as the sweet good boy.. but we quickly find out Sawyer really isn't all good.. Sawyer definitely has some bad boy in him, but Lana.. Ashton's cousin doesn't care. She's been in love with Sawyer since she first laid eyes on him years ago and thinks her cousin Ashton is nuts for giving him up for his brother Beau. I didn't like Lana much in The Vincent Boys, but I quickly came to love her and found myself routing for her and Sawyer and wanting to strangle Sawyer for being so stupid and not seeing what he had with Lana. Lana struggles with Sawyer because she knows he isn't over Ashton and she starts to fear that he may never be."My forgiving you doesn't make it hurt less. It takes awhile to heal." -Lana"When you fall for the one that owns you, she'll be the only one that has the power to make you cry." -Beau"Lana, I think about you every minute of everyday. When I'm with you, my world is complete. When I touch you, I understand the meaning of life. When I lost you, I completely shattered. You. Own. Me." -Sawyer"I understand now what love really feels like. The kind that consumes you. Love holds the power to break you. It holds the power to complete you." -Sawyer"You had the right Vincent brother all along. Don't take him for granted this time. He loves you in a way I hope to one day inspire in someone. He would give up the world for you. When you have someone that special, that incredible that loves YOU, don't let it go." -Lana“I'm not losing you again. You're with me. I want you there beside me. Always.” -Sawyer

This is such a good book! It really sucks when you have to pretend to be somebody you’re not. Ashton is trying so hard to be Ms. Perfect. Everything has to go a certain way and she has to say certain things, or else people might get the wrong impression of her. She even has the super handsome and perfect boyfriend, Sawyer. The boy every girl dreams of being with and the one who never gets into trouble and just seems flawless. But then she begins to feel a bit bored with it all. She wants a little excitement in her life. When Sawyer leaves town for a while, Ashton begins to spend a lot of time with his cousin and her ex-friend Beau. She can’t help but feel this pull towards him. Beau isn’t really the type of guy a girl should get involved with, but that doesn’t stop Ashton’s feelings from growing. She’s known Beau and Sawyer since they were little, but never in a million years did she think she would look at Beau as more than a friend. They reminisce about the times when they were little, and soon things just get really hot and heavy between the two. And I mean hot and heavy! I loved this book! It was yet another book that kept me up all night until I read the last word. The characters are so much fun and very easy to fall in love with. From the very first page I knew I would love Ashton. She was very relatable and everything she went through, it was like I was going through it with her. My heart broke with her when she it came down to a decision. I think Abbi Glines did a great job piecing the story together. Everything flowed very smoothly and the outcome was just perfect! It was unpredictable and that is one of the things I loved most. One minute I thought I knew how things would go, the next it took a turn. It was also very touching at times. Not just with Ashton, but with Sawyer and Beau. They go through a lot because of Ashton’s mistake, but if it never happened then things wouldn’t have played out the way that it did. You definitely have to read to understand what I am talking about. The Vincent Boys is a story about friendships, family, trust, betrayal, and love. It has a bit of everything that will leave you craving more of the sexy Vincent boys. I loved it and recommend this book! 5 out of 5 Stars!

This is one of those stories that is so addicting, that you have no way of explaining it. It's just so darn good all you want is MORE!I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I love a love that starts off when they were young and drifted apart. Those loved you know are just meant to be. The plot of the book is simple yet engaging. Right from the first page, your bombarded with lots of strong emotions and a love you can not resist. The plot is serious connections with the characters, allowing you to easily step in their shoes.Of course, the love interest is the best part. Who can resist a forbidden love? A love that is too good for you. A love you let go cause you know it be better that way. Yes, I adored this love. There is no doubt in my mind about that. I loved that this love is real and went through real things. The Vincent Boys is a thrilling yet sexy read. It stands to amaze the reader with a love that has no bounds. The Vincent Boys seamlessly blends the bonds of love and friendship. How far will you go for the one you love?*strong sexual content/cursing*

I'm loving my share of New Adult books, you know? Because, yes, I believe this is a new adult book, there are a lot of hot and steamy scenes here -for which I'm very grateful- just so you know.I liked many things about this book but one thing is very specific: I could relate to Ashton a whole lot... and it was kind of sad and fun at the same time. You see, Ashton's dad is the pastor of their small town and so everyone expects her to be Miss Perfect, you know? [I was dating the pastor's son and as so I thought I had to be perfect too]. And in small towns everyone has to stick their noses in other people's business... [why are some people so freaking nosy?! ¬¬ ]But Ashton is hiding something: she doesn't want to be perfect, she wants to be herself: crazy, sexy, naughty and wild once in a while [oh my god... at first I thought I was doing the right thing but it was so difficult and exhausting!] But she can't be like that, and not only for her dad and the neighbors but also because her boyfriend, Sawyer Vincent, is polite and nice and the most perfect guy in the whole town. And she loves him... right?Thing is, she does, but not as much as he loves her. And here is where everything changes: when Sawyer leaves town for a few days and Ashton has a chance of being alone for the first time in three years with her ex-bestfriend who also happens to be Sawyer's cousin, Beau Vincent, things go bananas. They begin to remember why they loved to spend time together and how easy was to be with each other. No need to hide, to pretend, to behave in the right way every second. My first reaction to their relationship was that I wasn't very happy with how things went and how they lied to Sawyer but then, human people make mistakes. And then Ashton's doubts were driving me crazy because, as I said, I used to thought that I had to be perfect for my ex-boyfriend but then I realize it was a HUGE mistake so I broke up with him. For me, to see her struggle with so many questions and doubts in her head was hard, annoying and revealing at the same time. So please, don't think it will drive you as crazy as it drove me, my personal experience had a lot to do with that. What I liked the most was to see Ashton and Beau's encounters, you know? So secretive, so romantic and so full of hormones at times... I enjoyed every second of them together. How they laughed, how they talked, how Beau helped Ashton during one of the most heartbreaking moments of her life and how sexy and cute he was without even trying. But let's not forget Sawyer. He was perfect, that's true, but not as perfect as Ashton thought, and when the time came for him to be a true gentleman he just sucked. Although I didn't like him very much at that time, it gave him more deepness. As for the ending, I liked it. Not everything revolves around Ashton and Beau's relationship and some major family drama unfolds that gives us a lot of insight in the Vincent boys life. Punches, tears, screams and fights are just some of their reactions and it was believable all the time.Overall, I recommend the book to every girl out there that likes a truly bad boy 'cause I'm sure you will love Beau Vincent ;)

Amazing. - I read this entire book in one sitting last night. I just could not bring myself to put it down until the story was over. That is quite unusual for me. Normally it takes alot to get a book to hold my attention like that! This book had so much "real world" likeness to it, that it made me feel as though I had been where Ashton was before. I mean really, who could bring themselves to pick between cousins? Especially when you have all been friends since childhood and you love them both, just not in the same ways.On one hand you have Sawyer, who is perfect in just about every way. Here is someone who is loved by all and is pretty much the Golden Child. Around him, you find yourself turning into someone who isn't you, just because you feel that in order to please him, you need to be that person. While the changes aren't horrible ones to make, a person should never have to change for anyone, no matter who they are.On the other hand you have Beau. Her best friend since childhood. Here is the most loyal person you could ever meet and the town's bad boy! I mean who wouldn't fall for that charm!? Being Ashton's best friend since childhood is making it hard for him to hide his feelings. Then Sawyer goes away for a month and just about everything changes.Ashton's life takes some hits and Beau, not Sawyer, is there to pick up the pieces. Throughout that month, Beau and Ashton find a kind of love that she doesn't have with Sawyer, even though her heart new the entire time that Beau was the one for her. Once Sawyer returns, the 3 of them have many things to work out and I found it amazingly interesting to watch the progression of anger, sadness, joy, more anger and eventually, acceptance. The feelings, plot lines and emotions portrayed in this story really have you sympathizing with the characters. A perfect story in my eyes. This is a well rounded story that pulls at your heart strings!

I was very surprised when I went to go put this book up for review that it was listed as a young adult or teen novel. The things in this book, especially the sex and the stringing along of men, are certainly things I don't want my teen to be exposed to. The story was good, and I like a good conflict as much as the next girl, but I don't think that labeling it as teen was appropriate. Also, an editor was desperately needed. I cringed every time a typo came up, or a fragmented sentence was used. As the book progressed, the errors seemed to get a little worse, which disappointed me. The characters were nice, though, and I think that a lot of people can relate at least to loving two people at once, but I think this book needed work.

This is absolutely one of my most favorite books. I am a huge fan of Abbi Glines and I love all her books, and The Vincent Boys is one of those books that just consumes you. I love the story, the characters, everything about it. That being said I am going to have to go all fan-girl here and tell you that Beau Vincent is absolutely to die for. He is the epitome of hottness, complete sex on a stick, and totally redefines the term yummy. He is my ultimate book boyfriend, and it is a good thing that he is fictional, otherwise I would probably embarrass myself or possibly get arrested. That being said, the description of Beau Vincent alone should make you want to rush out and get this book. The whole book is filled with heartfelt passion and emotion. It is packed with romantic chemistry from the first chapter until the end of the book. Though Beau is a "bad boy," he is the best kind - the kind you love to love. I love all the southern charm in the book, and if you’re from the south, you know all about pickup trucks, bench seats, and straddling the gearshift to sit next to your guy. The Vincent Boys, Beau and Sawyer, are cousins, and Ashton is the girl they both love. The three of them grew up together and were inseparable until Ashton and Sawyer started dating. A turn in events brings Ashton and Beau together, and she realizes that she has chosen the wrong Vincent boy. The fire and love between Ashton and Beau is undeniable, yet Ashton doesn't want to hurt Sawyer, and neither does Beau. Sawyer has been there for him his whole life, when no one else has. Now Beau is faced with choosing between family and love. Ash loves Sawyer, but she is in love with Beau. She can't bear the thought of tearing the two of them apart, and She is willing to sacrifice her desires to keep that from happening. They all learn that the things they thought they had known all of their lives regarding love, family, and each other are not what they seem, and they all have really hard choices to face in light of this. Abbi does an outstanding job bringing everything together in this book. The drama, and the romance and the chemistry between the characters (and oh does Abbi Glines know how to deliver in this area), all leave you feeling like you have not only just read a great book, but like you have experienced it.

Gotta love Ashton and Beau! Ashton is so worried about what people will think about her since they live in such a small town. Because of her fear she shies away from Beau Vincent (the town Bad Seed) in favor of Sawyer Vincent- Beau's cousin. On the surface they are the perfect couple, but Ashton is hiding too much of herself from everyone except Beau.

Sawyer and Beau are cousins. Ashton is the girl they grew up with and got into trouble with. The three of them have been best friends since Ashton moved to town in Kindergarten. Now it’s the Summer before their Senior Year and Sawyer is away with his family, leaving Ashton by herself. Coming home from a party Ashton stumbles on Beau and they start talking. Ashton and Beau stopped talking and hanging out when Ashton became Beau’s girlfriend. Neither is really sure why. But they’ve decided to be friends once again, like they were when they were kids. But their friendship progresses a little further than either have planned on.This was my first Abbi Glines book and it won’t be my last. Glines has a writing style that sucks you in and doesn’t let go. She doesn’t spend time and space of unneccesary details and descriptions. Her stories have fewer pages than most of the YA books on the shelf, but they seem to have so much more going on.Ashton is a sweet girl who tries to live up to the pedestal that Sawyer has put her on. Sawyer is such a good influence on her life. Beau, though, is considered the bad seed…but when Ashton is with him, she is able to be herself, warts and all. But she feels awful about the feelings she is developing for Beau and wouldn’t hurt Sawyer for anything. She is truly in a no-win situation. Beau, for all the talk of him being the bad seed, really isn’t. Sawyer is the closest thing he has to family and wouldn’t hurt him for the world…but at what point do you stop living for someone else and live for yourself. All three characters have a lot of lessons to learn in this story and they handle it well.I love an author that can totally transport me into the story to the point where I forget I am reading a story. Another author that does this to me is S. L. Naeole. Loved it, and can’t wait for the next installment, “Vincent Brothers”!

The version I got has some grammatical and spelling issues but... you know what? It doesn't matter!

I'm just so extremely happy I felt the same giddiness I experienced while reading Beautiful Disaster. Abbi Glines' brilliant writing skill made me care about the main characters. The characters are flawed, yes, but I just can't help being interested in them. Heck, I ended up liking the supporting characters as well!

I sure can't wait to read the second book and the rest of the author's other book series. Ü

I'm not sure about the new trad-pubbed version, but the one I purchased, with the lollipop cover, was fresh off the presses, and I just got around to reading it. Ashton is dating Sawyer in this book, who's away for a few months, and the longing she feels for his cousin, Beau becomes undeniable, and she gives into her lust and begins mauling him whenever she gets the chance. He has a girlfriend too, so they're both loving on the sly.I thought the chemistry between Ashton and Beau was pretty sizzling, from even their moment together on the couch when they were watching TV. The crackling connection was the best part of the book, but I had a hard time getting behind them because Sawyer was so nice and they were acting selfishly. I knew going on that there would be a cheating angle, but I expected Ashton to be more torn about it. She said things to that affect but didn't really act like it bothered her the way it should have. The physical scenes were well-written and hot.But the rest ... well, the characters were all cardboard and underdeveloped. There was a lot of talk about being a certain way but there wasn't any show. Plus, the version I bought was riddled with errors. I surely hope the new one got a decent editor and went through a few rounds of cleanup. That would fix one of the major issues I had with this book. The new covers for the series are cute and spicy. If you just want a book that has a few romps and don't care about character development or errors, then pick this one up. It's not really one I'd recommend overall because it didn't live up to my expectations, given the abundance of 5 and 4-star reviews. It was okay. It's good if you want a spicy read at the beach, but it's not mind-bending, suspenseful or deep.

Ashton, Beau and Sawyer grew up together as the best of friends. Days running around outside, climbing trees, pulling pranks...well Beau and Ashton did most of the prank pulling while Sawyer got them out of trouble. Inseparable would be the word to use for them, until Ashton hit that age were the boys took notice of her in a new way. Staking his claim early, Sawyer gobbles her up and the once inseparable friendship becomes obsolete with Beau out of the picture.Sawyer is the towns beloved good boy and leader of the school. He's the Quarterback, good son and outstanding golden boy of wealthy well to do parents. Ashton the daughter of the towns preacher, trys her best to live up to his reputation becoming the quiet, well mannered good girlfriend, but she struggles inside to hold back her true nature. Beau, the son of the towns most gossiped about white trash waitress, takes the total opposite direction and becomes the towns bad boy. He's gorgeous, dangerous and every girl {including our good girl} wants him. When Sawyer takes off for the summer and asks Ashton to keep an eye on Beau, who by the way is also his cousin, she does so knowing he makes her blood boil, knowing he makes her heart race. The two have chemistry that sizzles in the air whenever they're in the same room and over the last three years Ashton's done everything to ignore it. So of course with Sawyer out the way the two finally rekindle that childhood friendship which almost immediately turns into a hot volcano of sexual chemistry and intense longing. The two start a summer affair and we watch as they fall in love with ease and as a reader you can only fall in love with the bad boy Beau as he struggles to make everything right. Sawyer is his cousin and outside of Ashton the only person he loves, making a decision is hard but he'll choose Ashton a hundred times if given the choice. When Sawyer comes home, things are crazy. Beau and Ashton are totally in love and tons of things have happened to Ashton that makes it impossible for her to remain hidden behind the good girl facade. Sawyer is shocked by the change of personalty but he adores her and wants to marry Ashton, no way even with his bad feeling lurking in his gut, is he giving her up to Beau. Family history between the boys, their parents and money issues compound everything and Beau will have to choose between the love his life or the love of his only friend while Sawyer will have to do the same. The book wound up being fun, that being said though, not everything was smooth sailing in this story of love and lost chances. Sentences were choppy and whether it was due to my Smashwords edition I don't know, but the formatting had major problems. Plot threads which could have been flushed out with perhaps an extra 50 pages got wrapped up way to fast and the ending I hate to say fell in the predictable category. Characters came off as cliched {take main character Ashton, she's the good girl preachers daughter who really is a bad girl inside and just wants to lose her virginity to the bad boy} and really don't attach themselves to us. I also didn't like the fact that Ashton cheated on Sawyer (cheating=low and dirty) but I did like that she thought about her actions and cut the cheating off and stayed true to Sawyer until things were brought out in the open and wound up making the right choice for her life. So here's where I tell you, those problems aside the writing had great potential and I think Glines can and will grow as an author. Id recommend this book and tell you not to go into it with expectations of deep character development, as the characters only hit us at surface level, more so go into it for a few hours of guilty beach reading....because in the end scandal in fiction is fun. I did overall enjoy reading The Vincent Boys and despite the few hiccups I mentioned it was well worth the read. The Southern flair, the small town feel, the gossiping ninny's that come with small town churches, it all worked. Looking forward to checking out The Vincent Brothers.

I heard a lot of praise about Abbi Glines but I avoided reading her books because they are labeled as young adult. The Vincent Boys was Kindle freebie some time ago, so I took it a sign that I should give her at last a try.
After reading this book, I definitely see what the fuss is about, Abbi Glines knows how to write sweet contemporary romance. The only thing that stopped me from rating it higher is that it has two things that annoy me very much: love triangle and cheating.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Right from the beginning, it had me hooked. A lot of contemporary romance books go through the whole “Oh golly gosh, we want to be together but can’t” phase for at least a couple of chapters, which puts me off as a reader. This book didn’t fool around with that, which I thoroughly appreciated. Ashton, a good girl tired of the restraints of perfection, is faced with a serious problem right from the get-go. Her effortlessly perfect boyfriend, Sawyer, is off on a camping trip all summer, leaving her alone to deal with his bad boy cousin, Beau. The second she goes to pick up him and his extremely intoxicated girlfriend, she feels old feelings beginning to reemerge with startling strength.

Like I said, I appreciated that there wasn’t any time wasted on a wishy washy hero or heroin. The closest it gets to that is Beau constantly making sure this is what Ashton wants, which didn’t detract from the story but instead helped to show that Beau is not the selfish piece of trailer trash that everybody thinks he is, but actually cares deeply about his cousin and the girl they both love.

I loved the way they fit together seamlessly despite years of being apart. The passion and love was intense and enjoyable throughout the entire book, up until a couple of chapters from the end. I’m not going to spoil it, but there was a turn of events that put me off completely so that I had to flip to the end just to skim and see if I should just put the book down and leave it unfinished. Though it ended up ending exactly how it should have and it was a fantastic book, I would not reread it and the bit at the end leads me to put it somewhere around 3.5 stars.

I won a copy of this from AToMR tours.

Ashton, Beau, and Sawyer have been friends since they were kids. Ashton and Beau were the wild ones--always in trouble. Sawyer, Beau's cousin, was the one who always bailed them out of it. Now that they're in high school, Beau is the town's bad-boy while Sawyer, known as "Mr. Perfect," and Ashton are dating. The summer before their senior year in high school, Sawyer is gone on a long camping trip with his family and Ashton is bored and alone. Although they haven't talked much since she started dating his cousin, Beau starts coming around more and reminding Ashton of the wild girl she used to be before she tried being perfect enough for Sawyer. Beau misses the "bad girl" who was his best friend and first love, and Ashton realizes she's tired of pretending to be someone else to keep Sawyer. During their time together, they realize how deeply they love one another. When Sawyer comes back, Beau is ready to come clean to his best friend and cousin. He wants Ashton at all costs, but she loves them both too much to come between them. As Ashton struggles with her choice to leave them both or go after the one she wants, a deep family secret is revealed that will either bring Beau and Sawyer to resolve their differences once and for all or separate them forever.I really enjoyed this YA romance. The scenes between Ashton and Beau become very intense and very sexual. I wouldn't recommend this for junior high girls. The tension between the group is palpable, and the changing viewpoints allow you to really know and care for the main characters. Beau may be trouble, but Ashton sees a side of him no one else does. If you're a hopeless romantic who always roots for the bad boy/rogue, you'll enjoy this read.

What is it about a bad boy that makes all the girls turn to mush? Ashton is no different. She serves a good front of false wholesomeness. She tries very hard to live up to her preacher father and her goody two-shoes boyfriend's expectations. But when left without her boyfriend over the summer, some feelings for his cousin and her former best friend, Beau, come creeping back. Hoping to re-connect with her childhood friend, her and Beau make plans to hang out and things become dangerously familiar.Sawyer has always been there for Beau, certainly more than anyone else in his life, but when it comes to Ashton, Beau can't think clearly. He knows that making a play for his cousin's girl or even encouraging her to make a play for him is wrong. But in his heart, Ashton has always been his.The thing that drove me nuts about this book is this: at no point do either Ashton or Beau think to confront the situation before rushing head fist into a romantic relationship. Ashton thinks she simply can't publicly be with Beau. He's the town's black sheep and bad boy, how would it look if the preacher's daughter ditched her boyfriend to be with him. Beau thinks he can win Ashton over and hopes to make Sawyer understand but only after things go too far with Ashton. I'm all for following your heart and mine said Beau all the way, I just wished they would have showed a little more grownupedness. Yes, that is a word in my world.I liked Ashton, I could feel for her situation and as a character she was developed enough for me to understand her, mostly. She has some fairly large identity issues to figure out and I suppose her situation would be a natural one in a small Bible-belt town.Beau is one of the beautifully broken people who act out with sex and alcohol to cope with an unhappy existence. But underneath the tough exterior there is a caring and vulnerable guy just trying to figure out how to exist.Sawyer was not a favorite of mine, there was some small redemption at the end of the book but not enough for me to really want to read his story in The Vincent Brothers. I just found him to be a self indulgent ass-hat.The story moves without too many twists, it is fairly predictable with the exception of one bit of news that pops up and threatens to tear the Vincent Boys apart, even without Ashton's help. The ending is tidy, maybe a bit too tidy for all the drama that leads up to it. Overall, The Vincent Boys is a quick, fun read with some sweetness mixed with just the right amount of sexy.

So this book is 100% guilty pleasure. I think I was slightly in love with Beau halfway through this book and I definitely thought I'd be a much better match for him than Ashton :) but in reality, Ashton and Beau were great for each other. If you're looking for a fun and sexy romance that's a great light read, I recommend this book. It's my first introduction to Abbi Glines but I'll definitely be reading more.

Ashston has got a life others would dream of. She's got the boy everyone in town wants, her family is respected by everyone, and things are going great. Ash is missing something though. When her boyfriend Sawyer goes out of town, Ash reconnects with her childhood friend (and her boyfriend's cousin) Beau. In a big way. Suddenly things aren't as clear as Ash thought they were. Beau sees Sawyer as the brother he never had, but he's also been jealous of Sawyer's perfect life. Beau can't help but be pleased when Ash starts paying more attention to him. Ash and Beau are forced to reconcile their feelings for each other with their feelings for Sawyer. This was most definitely a Southern soap opera. Ashton and Beau were attached at the hip as children, but had grown apart as they got older. Especially when Ash started dating Sawyer. I think a lot of people will really enjoy the romance in this book. Personally, I have never understood the appeal of the "bad boy," and that's what Beau is made out to be. I think that Beau was given some characterization beyond the bad boy vibe as the book went on, so this helped a lot. There were also some twists in the plot that added some depth to the story. The author did a fantastic job of creating atmosphere. You really got a feel for life in the South, and you could feel the pull between Ashton and Sawyer. This was also a very quick read. I almost read it in one sitting. Lovers of romance, especially those that like bad boys will love this book for sure. Book provided for review.

The Vincent Boys -- Extended and Uncut - Abbi Glines

SEVEN YEARS AGO . . .

You notice anything different about Ash? my cousin Sawyer asked as he climbed up the tree to sit beside me on our favorite limb overlooking the lake. I shrugged, not sure how to answer his question. Sure, I’d noticed things about Ash lately. Like the way her eyes kind of sparkled when she laughed and how pretty her legs looked in shorts. But there was no way I was confessing those things to Sawyer. He’d tell Ash, and they’d both laugh their butts off.

No, I replied, not looking at Sawyer for fear he’d be able to tell I was lying.

I heard Mom talking to Dad the other day, saying how you and me would start noticing Ash differently real soon. She said Ash was turning into a beauty, and things between the three of us would change. I don’t want things to change, Sawyer said with a touch of concern in his voice. I couldn’t look him at him. Instead I kept my eyes fixed on the lake.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Ash is Ash. Sure, she’s always been pretty, I guess, but that’s not what’s important. She can climb a tree faster than either of us, she baits her own hook, and she can fill up water balloons like a pro. The three of us have been best friends since preschool. That won’t change. I chanced a glance at Sawyer. My speech sounded pretty convincing, even to me.

Sawyer smiled and nodded. You’re right. Who cares that she’s got hair like some kind of fairy princess? She’s Ash. Speaking of water balloons, could you two please stop sneaking out and throwing them at cars right outside my house at night? My parents are gonna catch y’all one of these days, and I won’t be able to get y’all outta trouble.

I grinned, thinking about Ash covering her mouth to silence her giggles last night when we’d snuck down there to fill up the balloons. That girl sure loved to break rules—almost as much as I did.

I heard my name. Ash’s voice startled me. You two better not still be making fun of me about this stupid bra Mama’s making me wear. I’ve had it with the jokes. I’ll break both your noses if it doesn’t stop. She was standing at the bottom of the tree with a bucket of crickets in one hand and a fishing pole in the other. Are we gonna fish or had y’all rather just stare down at me like I’ve grown another head?

Chapter 1

ASHTON

Why couldn’t I have just made it home without seeing them? I wasn’t in the mood to play good freaking Samaritan to Beau and his trashy girlfriend. Although he wasn’t here, Sawyer would expect me to stop. With a frustrated groan, I slowed down and pulled up beside Beau, who had put some distance between him and his vomiting girlfriend. Apparently, throw up wasn’t a mating call for him. Where’s your truck parked, Beau? I asked in the most annoyed tone I could muster. He flashed me that stupid sexy grin that he knew made every female in town melt at his feet. I’d like to believe I was immune after all these years, but I wasn’t. Being immune to the town’s bad boy was impossible.

Don’t tell me perfect little Ashton Gray is gonna offer to help me out, he drawled, leaning down to stare at me through my open window.

Sawyer’s out of town, so the privilege falls to me. He wouldn’t let you drive home drunk and neither will I.

He chuckled sending a shiver of pleasure down my spine. God. He even laughed sexy.

Thanks, beautiful, but I can handle this. Once Nic stops puking, I’ll throw her in my truck. I can drive the three miles to her house. You run on along now. Don’t you have a Bible study somewhere you should be at?

Arguing with him was pointless. He would just start throwing out more snide comments until he had me so mad I couldn’t see straight. I pressed the gas and turned into the parking lot. Like I was going to be able to just leave and let him drive home drunk. He could infuriate me with a wink of his eye, and I worked real hard at being nice to everyone. I scanned the parked cars for his old, black Chevy truck. Once I spotted it, I walked over to him and held out my hand.

Either you can give me the keys to your truck or I can go digging for them. What’s it going to be, Beau? You want me searching your pockets?

A crooked grin touched his face. As a matter of fact, I think I might just enjoy you digging around in my pockets, Ash. Why don’t we go with option number two?

Heat rose up my neck and left splotches of color on my cheeks. I didn’t need a mirror to know I was blushing like an idiot. Beau never made suggestive comments to me or even flirted with me. I happened to be the only reasonably attractive female at school he completely ignored.

Don’t you dare touch him, you stupid bitch. His keys are in the ignition of his truck. Nicole, Beau’s on-again-off-again girlfriend, lifted her head, slinging her dark brown hair back over her shoulder, and snarled at me. Bloodshot blue eyes filled with hate watched me as if daring me to touch what was hers. I didn’t respond to her nor did I look back up at Beau. Instead I turned and headed for his truck, reminding myself I was doing this for Sawyer.

Come on then and get in the truck, I barked at both of them before sliding into the driver’s seat. It was really hard not to focus on the fact this was the first time I’d ever been in Beau’s truck. After countless nights of lying on my roof with him, talking about the day we’d get our driver’s licenses and all the places we would go, I was just now, at seventeen years old, sitting inside his truck. Beau picked Nicole up and dumped her in the back.

Lie down unless you get sick again. Then make sure you puke over the side, he snapped while opening the driver’s side door.

Hop out, princess. She’s about to pass out; she won’t care if I’m driving.

I gripped the steering wheel tighter.

I’m not going to let you drive. You’re slurring your words. You don’t need to drive.

He opened his mouth to argue then mumbled something that sounded like a curse word before slamming the door and walking around the front of the truck to get in on the passenger’s side. He didn’t say anything, and I didn’t glance over at him. Without Sawyer around, Beau made me nervous.

I’m tired of arguing with females tonight. That’s the only reason I’m letting you drive, he grumbled, without a slur this time. It wasn’t surprising that he could control the slurring. The boy had been getting drunk before most the kids our age had tasted their first beer. When a guy had a face like Beau’s, older girls took notice. He’d been snagging invites to the field parties way before the rest of us.

I managed a shrug. You wouldn’t have to argue with me if you didn’t drink so much.

He let out a hard laugh. You really are a perfect little preacher’s daughter, aren’t you, Ash? Once upon a time you were a helluva lot more fun. Before you started sucking face with Sawyer, we use to have some good times together. He was watching me for a reaction. Knowing his eyes were directed at me made it hard to focus on driving. You were my partner in crime, Ash. Sawyer was the good guy. But the two of us, we were the troublemakers. What happened?

How do I respond to that? No one knows the girl who used to steal bubble gum from the Quick Stop or abduct the paperboy to tie him up so we could take all his papers and dip them in blue paint before leaving them on the front doorsteps of houses. No one knew the girl who snuck out of her house at two in the morning to go toilet-paper yards and throw water balloons at cars from behind the bushes. No one would even believe I’d done all those things if I told them. . . . No one but Beau.

I grew up, I finally replied.

You completely changed, Ash.

We were kids, Beau. Yes, you and I got into trouble, and Sawyer got us out of trouble, but we were just kids. I’m different now.

For a moment he didn’t respond. He shifted in his seat, and I knew his gaze was no longer focused on me. We’d never had this conversation before. Even if it was uncomfortable, I knew it was way overdue. Sawyer always stood in the way of Beau and me mending our fences, fences that had crumbled, and I never knew why. One day he was Beau, my best friend. The next day he was just my boyfriend’s cousin.

I miss that girl, you know. She was exciting. She knew how to have fun. This perfect little preacher’s daughter who took her place sucks.

His words hurt. Maybe because they were coming from him or maybe because I understood what he was saying. It wasn’t as if I never thought about that girl. I hated him for making me miss her too. I worked really hard at keeping her locked away. Having someone actually want her to be set loose made it so much harder to keep her under control.

I’d rather be a preacher’s daughter than a drunk whore who vomits all over herself, I snapped before I could stop myself. A low chuckle startled me, and I glanced over as Beau sunk down low enough in his seat so his head rested on the worn leather instead of the hard window behind him.

"I guess you’re not completely perfect. Sawyer’d never call someone a name. Does he know you use the word whore?"

This time I gripped the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles turned white. He was trying to make me mad and he was doing a fabulous job. I had no response to his question. The truth was, Sawyer would be shocked that I’d called someone a whore. Especially his cousin’s girlfriend.

Loosen up, Ash, it’s not like I’m gonna tell on you. I’ve been keeping your secrets for years. I like knowing my Ash is still there somewhere underneath that perfect facade.

I refused to look at him. This conversation was going somewhere I didn’t want it to go.

No one is perfect. I don’t pretend to be, I said, which was a lie and we both knew it. Sawyer was perfect, and I worked hard to be worthy. The whole town knew I fell short of his glowing reputation.

Beau let out a short, hard laugh. Yes, Ash, you do pretend to be.

I pulled into Nicole’s driveway. Beau didn’t move.

She’s passed out. You’re going to have to help her, I whispered, afraid he’d hear the hurt in my voice.

You want me to help a vomiting whore? he asked with an amused tone.

I sighed and finally glanced over at him. He reminded me of a fallen angel as the moonlight cast a glow on his sun-kissed blond hair. His eyelids were heavier than usual, and his thick eyelashes almost concealed the hazel color of his eyes underneath.

She’s your girlfriend. Help her. I managed to sound angry. When I let myself study Beau this closely, it was hard to get disgusted with him. I could still see the little boy I’d once thought hung the moon, staring back at me. Our past would always be there, keeping us from ever really being close again.

Thanks for reminding me, he said, reaching for the door handle without breaking his eye contact with me. I dropped my gaze to study my hands, which were now folded in my lap. Nicole fumbled around in the back of the truck, causing it to shake gently and reminding us that she was back there. After a few more silent moments, he finally opened the door.

Beau carried Nicole’s limp body to the door and knocked. It opened and he walked inside. I wondered who opened the door. Was it Nicole’s mom? Did she care her daughter was passed out drunk? Was she letting Beau take her up to her room? Would Beau stay with her? Crawl in bed with her and fall asleep? Beau reappeared in the doorway before my imagination got too carried away.

Once he was back inside the truck, I cranked it up and headed for the trailer park where he lived.

So tell me, Ash, is your insistence to drive the drunk guy and his whore girlfriend home because you’re the perpetual good girl who helps everyone? ’Cause I know you don’t like me much, so I’m curious as to why you want to make sure I get home safe.

Beau, you’re my friend. Of course I like you. We’ve been friends since we were five. Sure we don’t hang out anymore or go terrorizing the neighborhood together, but I still care about you.

Since when?

Since when what?

Since when do you care about me?

That is a stupid question, Beau. You know I’ve always cared about you, I replied. Even though I knew he wouldn’t let such a vague answer fly. The truth was that I never really talked to him much anymore. Nicole was normally wrapped around one of his body parts. And when he spoke to me, it was always to make some wisecrack.

You hardly acknowledge my existence, he replied.

That’s not true.

He chuckled. We sat by each other in history all year, and you hardly ever glanced my way. At lunch you never look at me, and I sit at the same table you do. We’re at the field parties every weekend, and if you ever turn your superior gaze in my direction, it’s normally with a disgusted expression. So I’m a little shocked you still consider me a friend.

The large live oak trees signaled the turn into the trailer park where Beau had lived all is life. The sight of the rich beauty of the southern landscape as you pulled onto the gravel road was deceiving. Once I drove past the large trees, the scenery drastically changed. Weathered trailers with old cars were up on blocks, and battered toys scattered the yards. More than one window was covered with wood or plastic. I didn’t gawk at my surroundings. Even the man sitting on his porch steps with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth and wearing nothing but his underwear didn’t surprise me. I knew this trailer park well. It was a part of my childhood. I came to a stop in front of Beau’s trailer. It would be easier to believe that this was the alcohol talking, but I knew it wasn’t. We hadn’t been alone in over four years. Since the moment I became Sawyer’s girlfriend, our relationship had changed.

I took a deep breath, then turned to look at Beau. I never talk in class. Not to anyone but the teacher. You never talk to me at lunch, so I have no reason to look your way. Attracting your attention leads to you making fun of me. And, at the field, I’m not looking at you with disgust. I’m looking at Nicole with disgust. You could really do much better than her. I stopped myself before I said anything stupid.

He tilted his head to the side as if studying me. You don’t like Nicole much, do you? You don’t have to worry about her hang-up with Sawyer. He knows what he’s got, and he isn’t going to mess it up. Nicole can’t compete with you.

Nicole had a thing for Sawyer? She was normally mauling Beau. I’d never picked up on her liking Sawyer. I knew they’d been an item in seventh grade for, like, a couple of weeks, but that was junior high school. It didn’t really count. Besides, she was with Beau. Why would she be interested in anyone else?

I didn’t know she liked Sawyer, I replied, still not sure I believed him. Sawyer was so not her type.

You sound surprised, Beau replied.

Well, I am, actually. I mean, she has you. Why does she want Sawyer?

A pleased smile touched his lips making his hazel eyes light up. I realized I hadn’t exactly meant to say something that he could misconstrue in the way he was obviously doing.

He reached for the door handle before pausing and glancing back at me.

I didn’t know my teasing bothered you, Ash. I’ll stop.

That hadn’t been what I was expecting him to say. Unable to think of a response, I sat there holding his gaze.

I’ll get your car switched back before your parents see my truck at your house in the morning. He stepped out of the truck, and I watched him walk toward the door of his trailer with one of the sexiest swaggers known to man. Beau and I had needed to have that talk, even if my imagination was going to go wild for a while, where he was concerned. My secret attraction to the town’s bad boy had to remain a secret.

The next morning, I found my car parked in the driveway, as promised, with a note wedged under the windshield wipers. I reached for it, and a small smile touched my lips.

Thanks for last night. I’ve missed you. He had simply signed it B.

Chapter 2

ASHTON

Hey, baby. I’m sorry I am just now responding to your e-mail. Our Internet here is not real dependable and 4G is nonexistent, so my phone is no help. I miss you like crazy. I think about you all day and wonder what you’re doing. We’re spending most of our days hiking. The trail we took yesterday led to an amazing waterfall. After five miles uphill in the heat, the ice-cold water at the falls felt great. I kept wishing you were here.

It is safe to say my future is not in fishing. I suck at it. Cade is kicking my tail in catches. He told me yesterday I needed to stick with football. LOL. I am enjoying my time with him. Thanks for understanding how much I needed to do this. He needs me right now. His big brother will be leaving in a year and I’ll be a phone call away, but I won’t be there to watch his football practice or help him with his first crush. I’m trying to share all my wisdom with him now.

I love you, Ashton Sutley Gray, so very much. I’m the luckiest guy in the world.

Sawyer

Sawyer,

I figured your delayed response had to do with Internet issues. The connection up in the mountains can’t be that great. At least not up in a secluded cabin like y’all are in. I miss you, too. I’m glad you’re getting in some big brother time with Cade. I know it means so much to him.

As for me, I am working at the church a good bit. Nothing much to do with you gone. I haven’t been going to the field on the weekends. I clean the church mostly, then rent a movie. Leann and Noah are together officially now. When she isn’t working, she is with him. So that leaves me without anyone. I’m so used to spending all my time with you. Give Cade and Catherine a hug from me.

I am counting down the days until I see your face again.

Love u bunches,

Ashton

I stared at the computer screen after I clicked send. The fact I hadn’t mentioned Beau bothered me a little. I started to tell him about giving Beau and Nicole a ride home. We never really talked about Beau anymore. Sawyer did sometimes when he was worried about him. For most of Sawyer’s life he’s taken care of Beau. Beau was the son of the Vincent brother who had lived a wild life up until the day he crashed his motorcycle into an eighteen-wheeler. Beau had been in first grade when it happened. I remember his eyes being bloodshot from crying for months. He would sneak out of his trailer and come to my house in the middle of the night. I’d slip outside my window, and we would sit on my roof for hours thinking of things we could do to make him feel better. Normally those ideas would lead to serious mischief that Sawyer had to bail us out of. Sawyer was the son of the good Vincent brother. Sawyer’s father had been the oldest of the two Vincent brothers. He had gone to law school and made a fortune defending the average Joe against insurance companies. The town loved Harris Vincent and his beautiful, churchgoing, tennis-playing, junior league–attending wife, Samantha Vincent, and of course their talented, all-American oldest son.

This town wasn’t big, and like any small southern town we all knew everyone’s business. Their past was common knowledge. Their parents’ pasts were no secret. We didn’t have secrets in Grove, Alabama. It wasn’t possible—well, except maybe at the field. In the dark shadows of the pecan grove that surrounded the large open field where the Mason boys held their famous parties, I’m sure were many secrets. It was the only place where the little ole ladies couldn’t watch us from their front porch swings and where the only eyes around were too busy with their own mischief to notice ours.

Reaching over, I picked up the picture Sawyer had framed and given to me of us at a field party last month. His kind smile and bright green eyes made me feel guilty. I hadn’t done anything wrong really. I’d just left out
