Chapter 1
Initiation:
You did right in your test. You can really butcher somebody you bitch!
Ricardo said in a hoarse voice. The torso was lying soaked in a pool of blood as Rupert held the chopped head high in the air, blood dripping down to his chest. He yelled as the initiation progressed fiercely. The rest of the Gladiators chanted at him with psyche as their leader conducted the initiation from the center of the circle where he stood together with his initiate fetching drops of blood from the chopped head into their mouths. Behind the seven members of the Gladiators, fierce fire stacked with dry wood splints razed wildly lighting up the woods brightly as the sparks flew away with the calm wind. Ricardo gazed at his watch as it ticked away towards midnight.
Its five seconds to midnight my subjects
. He said loudly. Four! Three! Two! One!
the rest of the seven members did the countdown in unison before halting in the dot of midnight in exclamation. Rupert was quite all through as he awaited the next phase of his initiation in awe. He was about to become the eighth member of the Gladiators. Gladiators constituted of seven members led by heartless and ruthless Ricardo colloquially known as Wader, the general of the Gladiator circle. Dylan was the organizer of Gladiator meetings and made sure that the shrine was exceptionally organized. His Gladiator name was Vapor.
Unlike General Ricardo who was densely tattooed in demonic symbols all over his body, Dylan had only the pentagram star boldly encrypted on his back along the vertebrae, perhaps due to the nature of his role. Members had a similar star somewhere on their bodies. Alaine the only female Gladiator in the circle, had hers imprinted in the middle of her cleavage. It was supplemented by a simple Swastika on either side, a miniature serpent just above her hip. Her coined Gladiator name was Ether. Ether's major roles as a Gladiator were to trail on preys and entice them as either new recruits or sacrifices. Jenny, whose torso lay in the blood paddle, was one such victim of Ether's enticement. Rupert had chopped her head with a machete and had to be initiated by sacrificing her.
At the time of gathering around the blazing furnace, Rupert had a bowl filled to the brim containing Jenny’s blood held in his feeble hands under intense perspiration. In the same bowl were her fingers too. They were eight of them soaked dip in the clotting blood. They all formed a circumference around the fire with General Ricardo in command as he stepped forth towards the inner of the circle, his initiate alongside him clinging on his tools of trade, a bloody machete and a bowl containing Jenny's blood and fingers.
Put the bowl beside the fire. Let's warm your meal
. The general directed. Rupert proceeded. He was definitely in shock. Having such a meal was incomprehensible. He placed his bowl adjacent to the fire where his commander pointed. Meanwhile, pants down!
he was commanded. Like the rest of the group, Rupert was already shirtless with everyone in their trousers. However, it was customary for a new initiate to be nude at the second phase of initiation. At first, he hesitated. I said pants down! Nude! Like a new born!
Ricardo ordered in an authoritative tone.
Rupert proceeded hesitantly belting off his pants and subsequently dropped them beside his commandant. Using his little finger tip, the General felt the warmth of the blood in the bowl before tasting with the tip of his tongue. He nodded at its suitability. He smeared some over Rupert’s face in strokes and proceeded to draw the pentagram on the recruit's chest over the muscles. General Ricardo handed the remnants of the bowl, which was still marginally full, and with Jenny’s fingers still in it to the new recruit who stood still, amazed and disbelief written across his face. His hands trembled feebly as he reached for the mixture. His eyeballs dilated from fear as he glared at his Commander's idle movements around him. It was clear that Rupert didn’t expect what he saw. From chopping another's human head off, to clipping her fingers off and collecting her blood into a bowl was entirely a puzzle. He used to envy the mystifying lifestyles of the Gladiators, proving easy for Ether to draw him into the circle oblivious of the reality. He easily jumped to the idea of becoming a Gladiator upon Ether’s request but nothing amusing about them was of envy at the initiation ground. He was extremely in shock and frightened.
Sit on that stump!
Rupert moved his head sideways, forwards and backwards repeatedly in search of the perceived seat. Perhaps due to unsound concentration
