    Introduction

All hair was not created equal but with a little help you can have the hair you've always wanted. The recipes and ideas in this book are for anyone who wants to have more beautiful hair. It originally started out as a primer for people of all races and colors that possess naturally curly hair as curlies need massive amounts of moisture to maintain curl and shine. It has grown to include recipes for dry hair, split ends, scalp issues such as psoriasis and dandruff, dull and weak hair. There is something here for everyone whether you follow a no poo regimen, Curly Girl method or the standard shampoo and condition routine. Most of the ingredients used in this book are common household items. Those that aren't are easily obtained at your local grocery store, pharmacy, Walmart, beauty supply or health food store.

Many of the oils mentioned can be found in the ethnic hair care section and several of these recipes have been used for years by women of color to hydrate and moisturize their hair and scalp. Hair of any type will benefit from added moisture, especially color treated, permed or chemically straightened hair as these procedures tend to dry out the hair shaft. Try a few or try them all.
