God's Hook for Reaching Men: Engaging the Heart of the Lost by Using the Law of God
()
About this ebook
God's hook is not the invention of men. Rather, it is God's tool to bring men to the realization of their need for Jesus Christ. If we were to attempt to fish by dangling the bait in the water, we would be very disappointed with the results. If, however, we use a hook appropriate for the fish we are attempting to catch, we would see a dramatic improvement in our results.
The law is God's hook to reach a lost and fallen people. Use it and you will see the wisdom of God. In this book we will take a look at the purpose of the law and the lawful use of the law. We will look at how Jesus used the law when He was alive on the earth. Finally, we will look at how to use the law in witnessing.
Chapter titles include:
The Purpose of the Law
The Lawful Use of the Law
Behold the Master's Way
Have You Taken Away the Key of Knowledge?
Witnessing with the Law

Preface
God’s hook is not the invention of men. Rather, it was given by God and is His tool to bring men to the realization of their need for Jesus Christ.
If we were to attempt to fish by just dangling the bait in the water, we would be very disappointed with the results. The fish might come up and eat at the bait, but we would not be able to catch those fish. If however, we use a hook appropriate for the fish we are attempting to catch, we would see a dramatic improvement in our results.
The law is God’s hook to reach a lost and fallen people. Use it and you will see the wisdom of God in giving it to us.

Chapter One
The Purpose of the Law
A few years ago, I was driving home through center city Allentown. I was driving over a bridge, and right at the end of the bridge was a four-way stoplight. As I was driving along, two cars came swerving around me, driving at incredibly fast speeds. I, of course, was wondering what in the world was going on. I then noticed a little flashing light on the dashboard of the second car. As they drew close to the stoplight, two more cars, one of which was a marked police car, came from the opposite direction and pulled right in front of the car that was being chased.
I slowed to a stop, as they were now spread out all over the road. Men jumped out of all three cars with guns and converged on the car they were chasing. They jerked the door open, pulled the woman out who was sitting in the driver’s seat, turned her around, and pulled a small bag of what appeared to be drugs from her pocket. They handcuffed her, put her in the back of the marked car, and they all drove away. It happened so fast, yet I had a front-row seat to watch it all happen.
So you may ask, What does that have to do with witnessing and the law?
Keep reading and you will find out.
"Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust." First Timothy 1:5-11
There is a right way and a wrong way to use the law. These verses tell us that the law is specifically written for those who are outside of Jesus Christ. He lists fourteen descriptions of those who are unrighteous, and those are the kind of people to whom the law has been given. The law is meant to bring them to a place of coming to Christ.
When we talk about the law, we are speaking of the Old Testament commands of Almighty God. The law specifically speaks about the first five books of Moses, the Torah. In all, six hundred and thirteen laws are given. The Lord has summarized all of those laws into what we call the Ten Commandments, found in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 6. The Ten Commandments can be divided into two categories, loving God with all your heart in the first
