About this ebook
“The New York underworld is no place for a lady... but no one told Gem”
Gem is everything she seems, beautiful, rich, and successful at what she does, a vampire hit woman for the Mob. She makes problems go away. But when one crime boss puts a five million dollar price on her head, dead not undead, he and his goons are in for one hell of a bloody bad ride.

Originally from South Wales, I have held a wide range of jobs from tennis player to gym manager to health service worker. I turned 40 in October, am married to Claire, and we have an insane ginger cat called Wookie. I went to school with Catherine Zeta-Jones, have played tennis with Jamie Redknapp, and coached Great Britain’s first ever World Number One tennis player. I have always loved horror stories, having grown up with Jason Voorhees and his slasher friends, and I love writing them even more. The thought of taking normal people and putting them in terrifying situations gives me a fantastic buzz. I hope to convey that buzz to my readers in every story I write.

The Hunter Hunted.
They say that if you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas. What they never tell you is that the goddamn fleas will be armed with state-of-the-art sub-machine guns, spitting out conscience-free silver-laced bullets.
Bullets with explosive slugs!
I ducked as another volley of shots rattled into the stairwell. Shrapnel and dust filled the air. Throwing myself up the final six steps, I rolled and halted in front of the door to my apartment floor hallway with one knee down on the carpet for balance.
The sons of bitches were waiting for me!
I took a second to touch my fingertips to my shoulder where the first shot had grazed me. It had torn my tight black turtleneck and drew a line of blood to the surface of my skin.
That was a five hundred dollar sweater, god damnit!
I’d hardly felt the bullet’s brief kiss, but within seconds, my rage turned to self-preservation as the silver toxin seeped into my system and threatened to steal the strength from my legs. Instead of turning on my would-be assassins and ripping their hearts from their pathetic human bodies, I’d fled toward the sanctuary of my lair. I couldn’t take chances now. My survival was more than just about me.
This was about Angel...and Katrina too.
I put my fingers on the door handle and listened. My acute vampire hearing picked up on each creaking step taken below me as two hoods edged their way up toward my position. I could smell every bead of sweat running down their overstuffed, out-of-shape bodies. I knew every hand gesture they made, each encouraging the other to be the first to take on the murderous vampire bitch upstairs. I heard the click of metal on metal as one of them changed his ammo clip.
That’s my signal!
I popped the door open and sprinted down the wide hallway, the deep carpet masking my footfalls. Somewhere ahead of me, a door slammed, and I could hear a muffled voice calling the cops, complaining of gunfire, asking what the hell was going to be done to protect the residents.
Because this is a good neighbourhood, we should be safe here,
the voice boomed, and then the phone was slammed down.
I had to agree. That was part of the reason I’d chosen this building for my lair. But my mere presence here brought trouble knocking. I reached my door and slipped the key out of my pocket. Wary of another trap, I sniffed around the doorframe seams.
No garlic. The room’s empty.
Running footfalls. I glanced back up the corridor. The goons were coming. I felt sick with fear over their silver-laced bullets. My stomach surged with dread. I had to focus and turn the fear into rage.
Unlocking the door, I stepped
