Why I wrote this book and why you are reading it…
1 Kings 19:11-12
Then he was told, Go, stand on the mountain at attention before GOD. GOD will pass by.
A hurricane wind ripped through the mountains and shattered the rocks before GOD, but GOD wasn’t to be found in the wind; after the wind, an earthquake, but GOD wasn’t in the earthquake; and after the earthquake, fire, but GOD wasn’t in the fire; and after the fire, a gentle and quiet whisper.
On August 6, 2013 I sat quietly at my dining room table. The year, thus far, had been a long one and I felt exhaustion and sadness creeping in. I was nursing heartbreak and wanting to crawl under the covers of my warm bed to escape it all. God and I talk all the time but I hadn’t heard from Him in a few days and I am not sure I had prayed or meditated for myself or anyone else. And frankly, I was glad to be on pause. I felt emotionally drained and depleted and it was just not a good time.
Then, it happened. Out of nowhere, like it usually does. I heard God whisper, I have an assignment for you.
The last time I’d told God I didn’t have time for His work because I was busy doing MY own, I lost that job. I found my life, but that’s a whole other story. Still, I was in no position to lose anything so I gladly accepted, because what I know for sure is there is opportunity in obedience.
The assignment was to wake up each morning,
