Galaxium II: The Losaurian Conspiracy
Opening credits.
Cue opening music score.
The scene fades in. The audience sees a distant view of a spiral galaxy. As the music continues, the galaxy nears as in the blink of an eye. Another blink and the camera is zeroing in on a portion of the galaxy on the outer edge of the main disc, intersecting an arm, like an underarm. The camera continues to zoom in on a specific star system in eye blinks. We see the sun of that system with all the planets surrounding it. The camera zooms in on the now familiar planet Oltupa where the Fremonese have established a galaxium mining colony.
There is activity around the planet. There seems to be a battle taking place in the space around the planet. The audience can see flashes of light and explosions as the battle progresses. The camera blinks once again and focuses on an old part of the battlefield. The audience sees a few derelict, partially destroyed battle cruisers. A couple of lifeless, dismembered bodies float in the coldness of space.
The camera begins to move through the part of the battlefield where battle has already taken place. As it does so it slowly accelerates. This is a trip through time, moving past part of the battle that happened hours ago toward a battle that is still being waged. The space junk and bodies seen at first are frozen and still. They've long since quit clinging to life. As the camera moves toward the action still taking place the audience begins to see sparks shooting from dying electronics through the holes blown in ships. Humanoid bodies move slightly as they breathe their last breaths. Now the audience sees more recent damage. Fires still rage on ships. Humanoids are still rushing about frantically trying to put out the fires and salvage what they can.
A human form in a space suit is seen floating by, still clinging to life and the hope of rescue. A laser flashes through the stillness of space and cuts him in half, dashing all hope the being may have held onto. Blood and viscera hang close to his body as the two halves spin grotesquely off in opposite directions. A smaller, unfamiliar fighter ship flies past, having killed its quarry. It's just a small sphere with several protrusions around its vertical equator where weapons are placed. The body spins faster as the ship passes and jerks a little as it momentarily follows. The camera pans past it and follows the spheroid fighter ship. It quickly closes in on one of the damaged ships. It fires several bullets of light and a steady laser for a second or two into a hull breach where a fire rages. The spheroid ship veers upward. The damaged ship explodes, throwing beings and materials into space. The camera continues to follow the spheroid fighter ship. The audience watches as several flashes suddenly hit the sphere. For a moment the blasts are dissipated by its shields, but suddenly a more intense beam hits and the sphere is vaporized.
The camera angle pulls back and shifts upward again. As it does so, two boomerang shaped ships fly through the explosion. The audience can see two massive space fleets higher up, moving away from the planet, engaged in deadly battle. The camera speeds up, moving swiftly past the boomerang shaped fighters, and speeds toward the battle currently being waged.
The audience sees an overview of fighters and larger battle cruisers exchanging fire. Explosions and blasts against shields abound. Both Fremonese and Usirian ships are heavily involved in battle. The camera flies toward a non descript medium sized Fremonese ship. It is relatively safe in the middle of the fleet, but it is not immune to attack. The camera comes through the clear dome of the bridge, situated on top of a disc on top of the ship, moves past the captain and bridge crew and down into a passageway deep in the bowels of the ship. Here the camera focuses on two men. They are walking to a point unknown. One of the men is Malcume Grimwitty, the other is Bolzar Formisal.
End credits.
Act 1 Scene 1
The ship rocks as an explosion rolls across it. The men stagger as they try to maintain their balance.
Malcume Grimwitty: Damn! That was close.
Bolzar Formisal: (Looking thoughtful and concerned) That didn't sound like normal battle cruiser fire hitting our shields.
A voice comes through a communications device worn near Bolzar Formisal's ear.
Voice: Sir, the guns of Oltupa have fallen to the Usirians. They are using them against us. The star cruiser Vulnar has been crippled.
Bolzar Formisal and Malcume Grimwitty start briskly moving through the corridor toward a turbo lift. Bolzar Formisal puts his hand to his ear and presses a small button on the device.
Bolzar Formisal: Understood, captain. It's time to withdraw. Send out the order. Begin pulling what's left of our forces back to Fremona. I'm on my way to the bridge.
Voice: Yes sir.
Malcume Grimwitty: Are you sure that's wise? What about those left on Oltupa?
Bolzar Formisal: What would you have me do? We are outnumbered and out gunned.
Malcume Grimwitty: It's just that I hate to think of the fate of those we're leaving on Oltupa.
Bolzar Formisal: Do you think I want to abandon those people? I told the high council of elders such a show of force wouldn't work against these Usirians.
Malcume Grimwitty: They thought they had something with that stolen technology. It was Ickod Hatchney who convinced them we'd have the upper hand. He was very convincing. Even I was ready to go along with his recommendations.
Bolzar Formisal: Yes, and look where it's gotten us. He had to know the Usirians were hiding more advanced weapons and technologies. If I knew, he should have known. It makes me wonder if he was paid off.
Malcume Grimwitty: Careful, Bolzar. He is prime commander.
Bolzar Formisal: It just seems awfully odd that he would commit all our forces to such a massive assault before he could be certain of the enemy's true strength and before lining up any support from any of our allies. Now we're stuck fighting these Usirians alone.
Malcume Grimwitty: What about the Losaurians? Any news from them?
The door to the turbo lift opens as the pair approach it. They enter and the lift door closes.
Bolzar Formisal: Bridge. (The turbo lift begins to move.) The Losaurians aren't going to come to our aid. I never believed they would.
Malcume Grimwitty: But I thought they were very hostile to the Usirians.
Bolzar Formisal: Perhaps they are, but there's something off about their supposed hostility. Besides, they are also a similar imperial state as the Usirians. They don't believe in the same principles we believe in. They're only going to fight if they're sure they're going to win. Right now I think they're just sitting back watching as both we and the Usirians weaken each other. They might be planning to devastate us all when the fighting ends. The same can be said for the Bugolans and the Candines.
Malcume Grimwitty: What about the Felaxians? Has anyone appealed to them?
Bolzar Formisal: The appeal for aid went out as far and wide as we could spread it. All space faring civilizations know of our plight. The Felaxians have been our closest allies in the past, but that was long ago. I'm not holding my breath this time. I think we're on our own.
The doors open onto the bridge. The dome above is lit up with flashes and explosions as the battle rages. The pair gasp, awestruck as the full scale of their folly is exposed. The massive Usirian fleet can be seen approaching. A large Fremonese ship is nearby, torn apart and in flames. Their ship is approaching the damaged vessel. The Fremonese fleet is in disarray. Already many ships are breaking off and retreating.
Malcume Grimwitty: My god. It's worse than I imagined.
Bolzar Formisal: Captain Quiggles, what's the situation?
Captain Casey Quiggles: I've issued the order to retreat, sir. Some of our smaller ships have disengaged
