Vampires: Short Story Anthology
()
About this ebook
Vampires—dreaded creatures of darkness. What do we really know about them? This twenty short stories compilation seeks to explore the world of vampires—their lives and deaths—in a whole new light. What is their role in the Great Cycle of Life? Why don't they exist today?
Written from multiple perspectives, this anthology explores the creation of these creatures, their awesome powers, their desires, and some of their most closely guarded secrets. The twenty short stories, each containing less than a thousand words, within this anthology are split into two parts—the medieval era and the modern era. These stories address how vampires live openly and secretly in these different societies.
Due to the graphic nature of certain stories, this 19,000 words anthology is recommended to readers age 15 and older.

About the Author
PART I
Maiden
The rich, silken drapes covering the open window waver gently as a cool breeze blows into the bedroom. The young occupant does not stir as she sleeps in bed, dreaming of the handsome man who would occasionally visit the maiden in her sleep. Just a handful of days shy of her sixteen birthday, the girl, with raven black hair, is growing into a fine, captivating noblewoman, with a dazzling smile that threatens to capture the hearts of men far and wide. Indeed, she is growing accustomed to the furtive looks and stares from the opposite sex, but none of them has stirred any feelings within her heart. The only one to capture her interest is her night time caller . . .
The dark cloud hovers over this maiden, fully content to look on as the young maiden is curled on her side in bed. The moon light shines into the room, giving form to her luscious figure beneath the sheets. The conscience within the mist gazes on with longing and lust as seconds tick away into minutes that eventually give way to hours. The cloud is fully aware of the approaching dawn, and the need for departure from this room with haste.
The moisture within the mist slowly condenses into water, which slowly evaporate into hard flesh taking the form of a man standing next to the bed. As the inhuman being bends over at the bed and kisses the young maiden's left cheek, the young human suddenly opens her eyes.
The maiden lifts her left hand and puts it to the back of her visitor's head, trapping the head firmly in place between her cheek and her hand. She feels the cold touch of his lips on her cheek, but allows her hot skin to warm those lips. Milord, my name is Clara Lushgarden,
she says. May I have the courtesy of your name?
The visitor pauses for a moment, refusing to allow his rising panic to overwhelm him. My name is Count Dram von Stoker,
he answers honestly as he breathes more cold air into her cheek. I apologize for my unannounced visit to your room. Please do not be frightened.
Clara strokes the visitor's head lightly, and releases him. She stares at him with her inquisitive, dark brown eyes as she rises from her bed. Why would I be frightened?
she asks haughtily as she gazes deep into his pitch black eyes. After all, I invited you to visit.
The count smiles, revealing his inhuman fangs. It is apparent that the young maiden fully understands his nature, even at such a tender age. Yes,
he admits, you did invite me once to come visit your room.
The visitor turns away as he reminisces on the events that led to the invitation half dozen years ago. When you were younger, one evening you sneaked out of your room, and wandered about the country side. You had gotten yourself lost and even worse a pack of wolves was on your trail. I happened to sense your presence, and decided to intervene when you were surrounded by the vicious pack. I commanded the wolves to leave, and fought off the alpha male who defied me and remained.
The night time caller pauses again as the events leading to his first meeting with this maiden play in his memory. For one who has lived for centuries and for whom time stretches forward for an endless eternity, how can he regard a mere half dozen years as more than the passage of seconds before his human host? Yes, the fight should have made clear my true nature to you,
he affirms aloud. Yet you did not shy away from me even as you watched me tear the alpha male from limb to limb and savored its hot blood. Why?
he suddenly turns around to look directly into her eyes.
The young maiden looks back at him, with no trace of fear in her eyes as she looks deep into the murky depth of his pitch black eyes. You were there to protect me. If you wished to kill me, you would have done so already.
She takes slow, even steps, drawing ever closer to him. Milord, why won't you have me?
she asks in a small voice, barely above a whisper.
With his superior senses, the Count easily hears the question, and the bitterness behind it. He draws closer to her to test her resolve, and sees her standing firm like a rock despite his approach until he feels her warm, sweet breath on his chest. He raises his right hand, and caresses her right cheek. "You are the Sun, and I am the Moon. I have no desire to defile you
