About this ebook
This is the exciting adventure of Greta Gecko and her friend Norman Nematode. It takes place on a small island in the South Pacific Ocean. Greta and Norman would like to solve the mystery of why the sun strangely disappears into the ocean at night, only to reappear on the eastern side of the island in the morning. With the help of Greta's father Professor Gecko, another mystery will need to be solved first. The adventure takes a cast of characters Crusty Crab, Professor Gecko, The Torch, and a Heckle Bird from one side of the island to the other. Greta and Norman end up with a bigger mystery than they had expected!

I was born in 1949, a "Baby Boomer." Raised near the small town of Kecksburg, Pennsylvania I enjoyed a quiet, uneventful childhood that was fairly typical for those days. My favorite past-times were riding bicycles with my close friends and occasional outings with my parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Times were good.

Chapter 1 - Life at Macamya Bay
Have you ever gazed longingly into the warm summer’s sky during the early morning hours, just before dawn? Have you ever watched, and wondered what lies just beyond the stars and the heavens? And what about that faint orange glow in the western sky that inches its way along the sunken border of the vast horizon? Could it be lights from another world far, far, beyond the beach, or just a friendly nearby campfire?
You are probably wondering whether something, or perhaps someone may be responsible for these eerie disturbances. Well, the story I'm about to tell concerns someone who had thoughts just like these. Some one whose imagination and spirit led her far from the safety of her everyday life, and together with her best friend embarked upon an adventure many dream about, but few ever experience.
My story begins deep in the South Pacific on the small quiet island known as Honkute. This tiny island has no historical significance. No famous people have ever lived here. No famous battles were ever fought here. And no famous explorers have ever set foot on its soil. Until now!
As the sun begins to peek through the early morning mist in Macamya Bay, Greta Gecko scampers quickly past the front entrance to Mondo's Surf Shop on her way to the beach.
Come on Norman, we don't want to be late
, calls Greta.
What's your hurry this morning?
cries Norman. It's not like we haven't seen this thousands of times already!
That's right, but this morning is special. So very, very, special!
chimes Greta.
Special?
inquires Norman.
Yes, special!
shouts Greta, It's my birthday you toad!
Well then, we'd better take the short cut through Crusty Crab’s rock pond,
shouts Norman. It will save us a great deal of time. Besides, he's on vacation and won't be there to agitate us.
Norman veers off the path and over the rocks with Greta close on his tail. They both have the salty air in their faces and can now see the familiar faint yellow glow just beyond the rocks ahead. As they approach the pristine shallows of the water's edge, the faint glow begins to brighten. Greta and Norman suddenly come to a stop!
Wow,
exclaims Greta, Look at that big yellow face! And look, Norman, look at that big smile! Why does he never appear to be wet after popping out of the ocean like that?
Norman manages to peek out from under a small ledge in the rocks. I need sunglasses
shouts Norman. "He is hurting my eyes, right through
