Bev Edgerton is a Realtor with 18 years experience, and loves her chosen career. In 2009, the housing market took a turn for the worse, and Bev tumbled along with it. By 2011 it had somewhat leveled out, but Bev knew it could never be what it was. Bev had to adjust. She started a business called Networking 1-on-1, where she spends an hour or so consulting with an individual to find out what they need to network effectively. They’re paying to be told “you’re doing it wrong!” but that’s when Bev weaves her magic and gives them the tools to network correctly. As a 19-year Ambassador for the local Chamber of Commerce, Bev has been to more ribbon cuttings, grand openings, ground breakings and Business Before/After Hours than she cares to remember! Her favorite networking event is SpeedNet – like speed dating for businesses! Networking is Bev’s life. When she first joined the Chamber of Commerce she had a small home cleaning business. She had heard that it was “good” to be a Chamber member, and happily handed over her $200. A year later, when her fees became due, she refused to pay, asking, “What has the Chamber done for me?” The person chasing the renewal, Paula Walsh, asked, “What have you done for the Chamber?” Bev retorted that she didn’t know anyone! That was the turning point. Paula invited her to come along to one event, and warned her to bring plenty of business cards. Paula promised to introduce her around. This lady knew everyone. Bev took her inspiration from that one meeting, and just did what her host did. The rest – as they say - is history.
