About this ebook
Tai Chi is quickly becoming one of the most popular forms of gentle exercise recommended by physicians to help with flexibility, balance, and posture. Traditional Tai Chi masters observed that regular practice with the correct body posture had the benefit of improving blood circulation and energy, reducing pressure on spinal nerves and joints, slowing heart rate, and activating the sympathetic nervous system (healing center of the body).
Highly accomplished teachers of this unique art continually tell their students that the most important aspect of Tai Chi practice is to develop the correct posture. Unfortunately many of the traditional Chinese teachers use descriptions that are difficult for most Western students to grasp. As a result very few students actually learn the essential qualities of correct posture necessary to gain the health benefits of classic Tai Chi. One famous Tai Chi teacher stated that “ if posture not right, no Tai Chi.”
In this book you will learn simple easy-to-do exercises that help you to quickly align your body, improve your posture and balance, and unblock your energy.
In this volume Dr. Money will describe in simple understandable western terms the essential qualities of classic Tai Chi body alignment, sung, and belly breathing.
Regardless of what style of martial arts you do, this book will improve the quality of your posture and training.
"Having dealt with both Scoliosis and Kyphosis as a teen – to the point of wearing a hip-to-chin back brace for several years – by the time I hit college, I suffered from chronic back pain. Though I was not yet 22 years old, some mornings my back hurt so much I couldn’t get out of bed. The doctors told me I’d have to learn to live with chronic back pain, because my spine could not be fixed. Not a happy prospect at such a young age.
Then I discovered Tai Chi and it literally changed my life. Within a few weeks of learning how to align and relax my spine, the pain lessened. After a few months of diligent practice, I was pain-free for the first time in ten years. Now, in my mid-forties, I still credit what I learned from Tai Chi with giving me a life I might not have had."
