About GadChick
Thank you for buying (or sampling) this book. If you have never heard of us before, hello—it’s nice to meet you!
GadChick is a magazine and blog written by women who love all things electronics. This is our book imprint. We don’t have many titles yet, but that’s mostly because we are picky about the books we publish: we only publish books we’d read ourselves.

Introduction
There’s a reason that geek
rhymes with chic.
If you’re tech-savvy, you’re industrious. You’re creative. You know how to make things. And even if the whole world hasn’t realized it yet, you know how to make things look right. No one but a geek can truly rock a lime-green iPhone cover, or wear a pair of specs at the perfect rakish tilt.

We also know that many geeks (us included) have an abiding fondness for outer space, nerdy pop culture and historical reenactments. So this guide wouldn’t be complete without Starfleet uniforms and superheroes. See, we know you.
We’ve tried to write this guide with an eye to the nerd on a budget. But there are a few big-ticket ideas here and there, and that’s just natural when planning a wedding. As you go along, you’ll find that there are expensive things you just can’t pass up. Try amending your budget to make room for the splurge by cutting elsewhere. For example, you may be smitten with that custom-made steampunk corset and gown. If you take up your aunt’s offer to bake your wedding cake, you just may save the money you need for your fancy duds.
There are also crucial decisions you can make to reduce overall costs. For example, Saturday nights are
