    Introduction

In this book we will talk about how our mental thoughts affect how we live our lives. Our thoughts have the power to drive our lives in the direction we think we should be or deserve to be. We perceive it as a reality because we think that way. What we don’t realize is that what we think has been shaped by our experiences up to this moment in time.

When I teach my classes, I spend the first weeks getting my students to relate to their bodies and to get them into a relaxation mode. Next I take them on a different journey of how they perceive their lives. One of the first things I teach them is to rid themselves of the words: should, could, and try/attempt. Each of these words holds a level of perceived failure. I should have done that but I didn’t. I could have done something but I didn’t. I tried it once! So many argue with me that they can’t always succeed or do something they really want and I ask why not? And they don’t have an answer other than what if they fail. And what if they do? Failure is a perception and so is success. Everything you do contains a level of both success and failure but it is in your perception that it makes it either one or the other. To do nothing is a failure to act. So why not act and find the layer of success that brings you.

The next argument I have with them is gratitude. I ask them if they ever thank their bills and pay them happily. Now the noise resounds. Why should we be happy about paying our bills? Why, because companies trust you with their products. Of course they confirm. So would they trust you if you couldn’t pay? Now they think differently. Pay your bills happily and the money will be there next month to pay the next. It is all in how you perceive your actions.

Our lives revolve around our perceptions and how difficult we make our lives. Aladdin and the magic lamp – what was significant about this fairy tale? He had 3 wishes but he didn’t make them right away. Why? The genie became his mentor and all he wanted was his freedom. The genie taught him how to ask for what he truly wanted rather than to satisfy his simple desires. Eventually Aladdin changed how he thought about himself and what he deserved and he made his 3 wishes and granted the genie his freedom.

Your reality is what you perceive it to be. If you feel you don’t deserve, you will create a life that is full of failure to fulfill the life you think you deserve. We all deserve the best we can be at any moment in time. Failure to act means complete failure while attempting something contains a chance of success and maybe failure. There are no guarantees in life but there is a fulfillment guarantee in living your life to the fullest.

The most rewarding to me in this class is when they are arguing with me one moment and then perception dawns and I see a change in their eyes. They become quiet and I see a difference in them. It is the best reward I could ever get.

Life is a journey and it takes many steps to travel along the route but it will bring a sense of accomplishment and reward with it. Always be prepared to take on the unknown and to enjoy the journey of awakening.

    Mindset

Mindset: refers to a set of assumptions, methods or notations held by one or more people or groups of people which is so established that it creates a powerful incentive within these people or groups to continue to adopt or accept prior behaviours, choices, or tools. This phenomenon of cognitive bias is also sometimes described as mental inertia, groupthink, or a paradigm", and it is often difficult to counteract its effects upon analysis and decision making processes.

On the positive side a mindset can also be seen as incident of a person’s philosophy on life. For example, there has been quite some interest in the typical mindset of an entrepreneur.
