    PART I

    Chapter 1

My darling, what is the matter? You seem very distant. What can I do to serve you?

Kilion, we have gone through this before. I can’t take being this way. I’ve tried for so many years, but I still feel like it’s not worth it.

But my love, I have given you everything any woman could want. We’ve lived a life full of luxuries and opulence. I can’t see what I haven’t provided that holds you back from your happiness.

What would make me happy is to see the sun. To go out in the warm weather and enjoy the rays of light on my skin.

Now darling, you know that is not possible. We aren’t—

I’ve watched my family and friends die. There’s no one here on this earth that I’ve loved. I’m alone and I’m tired of it.

I must agree with you. Being a Child of the Darkness is hard. The ones we love leave this earth why we are still here to walk it until we decide to end our own wandering. Don’t forget that you are not alone. I am still here with you. I can’t bring your family back, but to make you happy, why don’t we start a family of our own?

That means you would have to kill, and that goes against everything you believe in. Kilion, you haven’t made another since me. I know how you feel about that, and I refuse to be the reason why you go against your own moral rule.

I would do anything for you and your happiness. It is unfair for you to be so sad at my expense. Let me make it right by giving you what your heart desires.

Natalie gazes at Kilion as they sit on the balcony of their Italian villa that overlooks the night waves breaking on the rocks along the shoreline of the beach below. She loves Kilion but not what she’s become. When he first offered to change her into something as beautiful as him, she didn’t hesitate to say yes; not realizing how isolating that way of living can become. There were few like her and Kilion and the others wanted nothing to do with them; preferring to hunt humans and drift aimlessly in solitude. Over the years, the loneliness made her hysterical. Natalie attempted suicide several times in the past, but Kilion always came to her rescue hearing her desperate thoughts telepathically.

Could you live with the fact that you took another’s life for me? Could you live with the regret? Natalie puts her hand over his and rubs it affectionately.

As long as you understand that I’ve done it to make you happy, I wouldn’t have any regrets. Your love keeps me Natalie. I’ve been on this earth a long time, and have had other companions, but they were not capable of staying with me. As my mate, you are deserving of my servitude. Kilion lifts the hand that Natalie has rested hers on and kisses the back of hers tenderly.

Natalie smiles at how much Kilion adores her. Let’s make a family. I think if I had a few little ones to take care of, I’d be happier.

Then that is what I will gift you. We shall make a family, two beautiful ones… a girl and a boy. They lean in to each other and kiss. Kilion helps Natalie to her feet. They hug and see that the dawn is coming. Come, My Love. It’s time to retire for the day. When the night falls we will find our children.

You go ahead. I want to open the doors for the servants. I’ll be up shortly.

Kilion kisses her one more time and walks away. Natalie listens for Kilion to close the bedroom door before she goes out the front doors to the cliff the villa is perched on to be closer to the sun’s glorious rise.

As the sun slowly peaks over the ocean’s horizon, Natalie loses herself in thoughts of being amongst the living. Her body starts to get warmer and Natalie realizes that it’s not her memories but the sun creating the warmth she feels. When she looks down at her arm, it bursts into flames. She starts trying to pat it out, but another flame appears on the other arm, and then another flame on her back. Natalie drops to the grown rolling around in attempt to put the flames out, but more flames appear until her whole body is on fire.

Natalie screams out in pain and panic. She telepaths to Kilion that she’s on fire. Kilion come save me! I’m on fire! The sun!

Kilion wakes out of his sleep and can only open his eyes. He is unable to rise from the death sleep. Natalie! My love! Run to the house! Come to the house before you burn! Kilion tries once again to move his body, but is still defeated. He starts to cry and begs her to not let herself burn.

While still trying to put out the flames on her body, she unexpectedly rolls off the cliff and right into the rays of the rising sun. As the sun and Natalie meet in the air, she instantly combusts and her body explodes into several pieces. Her ashes dissipate into dust and are swept away by the ocean breeze.

My Natalie! Why?! Killion feels the ache of her death hoping what he feels is not true, but knows that she is really gone. For the rest of they day, he cries for his loss not even thinking about the sleep he is losing. When night comes, he wakes up drained from his sorrow and is ready to feed. Tonight, he will show no mercy. Mourning for the loss of his Natalie has brought out the beast in him he chooses to hide. Anyone who crosses his path is fair game.

    Present Day…

Standing at 5’7 and towering over most men that admire her, Bianca was always considered very attractive. Her legs were long and muscular; she had a bottom shaped just like an apple, and breasts that were ample. Her skin was as dark and creamy as milk chocolate, and her hair appeared to be black as coal with soft curls in its natural state. Her light brown almond shaped eyes and the features that came naturally from her ancestral home, helped her appear unique amongst the locals. Bianca loved her features, and she paired them with a sense of style that made most girls in her town try to mimic her in the slightest ways.

Bianca didn’t choose to be the fashionable icon that she was seen as by her admirers, but she accepted the title and never missed a moment to astonish them with her flare. The perception that she gave was that she had it all together, but at home, Bianca was nothing but a burden and a cross to bear for her mother. Living with a mother like Vivian, Bianca had to deal with brutal attacks and unwanted attention from Dre`, her mother’s alcoholic boyfriend.

Vivian never missed a moment to tell her daughter that she was not welcomed in her home or in her life. How Vivian told it, she got stuck with Bianca at a young age with no help from Bianca’s estranged father. Vivian’s mother, Gene, wanted to help get them a nice place to stay, but she swore her mother wanted to control her and rebelled against any help she was given. The only assistance Vivian did find acceptable was when Gene sent for Bianca in the summer months. Eventually, Vivian ended the visits when Bianca turned thirteen stating that Bianca was old enough to stay in the house by herself.

Vivian hated being a mother and despised Bianca for being something she had to take care of. She didn’t pay much attention to her daughter, but she did notice that Bianca’s beauty surpassed hers which made her very jealous. The jealousy blinded Vivian, and she took Dre`’s side when Bianca would come to her about him trying to make her have sex with him. In her heart, she knew Bianca wasn’t lying about Dre`’s advances, but the alcohol helped convince her that Bianca wanted her boyfriend and grew furious that her daughter, not only took her beauty, but was now after her man. To mask her anger and her disappointment, she would laugh at Bianca for making up lies about Dre` being interested in a stupid teenager.

For years, Vivian made it a habit of partying several nights of the week, and partying well into the next was to be expected. Vivian worked the morning shift at the diner a mile down the street from the brick rancher that Bianca, her and Dre` shared. The bar she would drink at was another few blocks in the opposite direction. Vivian would get off at six in the evening and head directly for her favorite hangout to meet her friends. The bar never closed, and at the crack of dawn, Vivian would wake up from her drunken stupor in the corner booth and make her way back to work.

Vivian’s routine of working and drinking made it hard for Bianca to live under the same roof with Dre`. He never saw Bianca as a daughter, but ass in the making. Dre` had been dating Vivian since Bianca was eight years old and he watched her grow into the teen goddess that she was. At every step of her growth into womanhood, Dre` made comments either about how her bubble was starting to get bigger or how he could see her nibblets through her summer shirts. Dre` would playfully warn Bianca that he was going to get her one day, but through his laughing and gestures, she knew he was serious, and because of that, Bianca hated him. Bianca figured it best to just avoid him at all cost especially since he found out about her part-time job of helping the young men in town enter into manhood.

Bianca learned to be self reliant when her mother chose bailing Dre` out of jail than keeping food in the house or drinking her check away instead of paying the light bill. Bianca didn’t see taking matters into her own hands as a problem and realized early that she had to depend on herself. She learned that the fastest and best way to stay ahead was to sell what she had been just giving away since she first started menstruating. For a while, her part-time job was working. Dre` ruined it; feeling he was entitled to the family discount.

Dre` started out trying to get a taste of Bianca’s goods by volunteering himself to be used for practicing. Then his suggestions turned into him lurking behind doors to surprise her and feel her up. He would even walk in on her when she would take showers using the explanation that she shouldn’t care if he saw her without clothes on since everyone in town had seen her naked. When Dre`’s actions finally started to get under Bianca’s skin, she started talking smart to him and would say he was a bitch-nigga for trying to get some when you supposed to be fucking my momma.

Bianca was never close to Vivian, and felt if she told her what Dre` was up to; her mother would take his side and put her out. Since her mom wouldn’t do anything about Dre`, and by him becoming more forceful with what he wanted, she knew her time at home was coming to an end. She just didn’t know how soon.

On a night that seemed like the normal routine, Bianca watched as Vivian left the house on her way to the bar. Bianca knew the timing was just right for Dre` to make his move, and when he didn’t put up a fight like he usually did about Vivian going out on her day off, she prepared herself for a night that was going to be remembered.

Bianca’s chosen line of work required her to carry a weapon, and the hazards of the job taught her to keep her weapon of choice close to her at all times; it was just good practice if a customer wanted to get a little bit more than he paid for. That night, Dre` made Bianca feel as if she needed to treat him as an unsatisfied customer.

It was dark in the house, and Dre` felt Bianca was too quiet to be watching television. He stared intensely in the dark trying to decipher if she had fallen asleep on the couch in the living room, but the glow from the television in the dark living room hid the fact that Bianca was keeping track of every move he made.

For weeks, Bianca had planned for the very moment Dre` would try to force himself on her. She foresaw what was going to happen, and from what she could tell by his heavy nervous breathing was that the night was going to go exactly as she imagined it would. Bianca had settled in on the living room couch to hide the knife, she usually carried in her pocketbook, in between the cushions. When she heard the creak of the floor from Dre` trying to creep up on her, she maneuvered herself so that she could grip her knife without him knowing she even moved.

With only the thought of feeling Bianca’s nice, young, tight pussy around his throbbing dick, Dre` didn’t notice the slightest move Bianca made while she laid on the couch. He was too focused on his victorious win over the loud mouth bitch who thought she was too good to look at him. Dre` was willing to wait in the dark for the perfect time to attack. He meant he was going to have a piece of her, even if he had to take it. When he got close enough to the couch she was laying on, he crouched down low enough so that he could pounce on her before she realized she was getting stuffed by his big cock. As thoughts of her bent over in front of him with her face in the cushions raced through his mind, his erection became very pronounced. All of his past thoughts of forcing Bianca to fuck had accumulated to that very moment.

His plan was to rip her panties off, force her legs open and shove himself inside of her. He could care less if she screamed—actually the thought of her screaming turned him on more. What he wanted to do most of all was make her understand with each and every one of his pelvis thrusts was that he was not the one to fuck with. And when he was done ripping her tiny hole, he was going to leave his mark by smearing his cum on her face; signaling that he was the man of her mother’s house. Dre`’s penis was so hard thinking about how great his plan was that he came a little in his pants. After I fuck the shit out of her, she’ll have no choice but to change her better-than-you attitude.

Bianca could feel his presence beside the couch and could hear him breathing hard through his nose. Stupid nigga. Bianca thought. If this dumb fuck think he going to get me tonight, he wrong! Bianca laid in silence with her knife gripped tightly in her hand waiting for him to make his miscalculated move.

Dre` was ready to make his move on Bianca, but the moment wasn’t just right. The light from the television took away the element of surprise he relied on to put his plan in motion. He slowly grabbed the remote off the coffee table to turn off the television. Dre` put the remote quietly back on the table after he turned off the television with it thinking to himself how easy his plan had been to execute so far.

Bianca laid on the couch motionless. She didn’t even flinch when the glow from the television ceased to light the room up.

Now that the television was off and the remote was back on the table, he rolled his sweat pants to his knees. As soon as his penis was free from his boxers, it quickly extended from his body in the ready position.

Bianca was taking notes of all of Dre`’s moves; watching from the couch through squinted eyes. Since the television was now off, Bianca knew it was the perfect opportunity to open them all the way; she had to be prepared for Dre` and his half baked plan.

Dre` crawled to the end of the couch where her feet were, and when he got close enough, squatted in position, and then quickly sprung from his feet into the air coming down on Bianca with a thud.

Bianca responded by letting out a scream when she felt Dre` land on her.

Go head and scream bitch! I don’t care!

Get off me Dre`! Stop! Get the fuck off me!

Naw, Bitch! You act like you too good to give me some pussy! You owe me this pussy!

Bianca pretended to fight him off only to make him think he had the upper hand, but he smelled as if he had taken a liquor bath and she knew right away she was dealing with a drunken bastard. She laughed to herself thinking she could take him out with one knee to his stomach, but just feeling him struggle with trying to get her panties off made her laugh out loud.

Dre` was getting frustrated with the fact that he couldn’t see in the dark and with the task of getting Bianca’s panties off, it was harder than he thought. To make the situation worse, Bianca was still screaming in between blurting out obscenities for him to get off her and to leave her alone. All of Bianca’s noise and thrashing around made it harder for him to concentrate.

Didn’t I tell you to shut up?!

Dre` slapped Bianca hard in the face; so hard, that she could feel her mouth water. The slap stung, and Bianca had grown tired of wrestling with him and began to really fight back. She opened her mouth wide and then bit down hard as she could into Dre`’s shoulder piercing his skin with her front teeth, and when he howled out in pain, she kicked him in the groin. Dre` rolled off the couch and banged his head on the coffee table. Bianca took the opportunity to get off the couch with her knife in her hand and stood in front of Dre`. As she turned to switch on the lamp that sat on the table beside the couch, Dre` grabbed her empty hand. Bianca felt his grip on her wrist and him pulling her down to the floor. She screamed out No! and with her knife still tightly gripped in her other hand, slashed Dre`’s arm.

Dre` screamed out in pain and let go of her wrist. She ran for the light switch to flick it on and to see how bad Dre` had been cut. When she turned on the light, she saw that the knife missed Dre`’s arm completely and she had actually cut him across the face! Dre` was rolling on the floor cussing and screaming with his hands clutching his face trying to stop the blood from pouring from its wound. Bianca was shocked at all the blood coming from his cut and watched in amazement as it filled in the cracks of the wooden floor in the living room. She ran to him to see if he was really hurt or if it was just a flesh wound.

What the fuck Bianca! I’m going to kill you bitch!

Dre` stumbled to get up and then tried to lunge for her. He was able to catch her as she backed up from him, and as he had her in his grasp, he began pounding his fist into her face. Because Dre` was so drunk he never looked for the knife that Bianca used to cut him nor did he care; his one thought was a dumb cunt just cut him, and he was going to get his revenge.

Dre` had Bianca pinned on her back and was attacking her thinking she was helpless. However, Bianca was not going to let him win. With her knife still in her hand, she took it and reached around him and stabbed Dre` in the back. The pain from the knife made him yell at the top of his lungs, and while he was distracted, she was able to push him off her. Bianca grabbed her pants, her pocketbook and the shoes that she left laying at the living room entrance earlier in the evening and was out the front door. Outside in the cold, Bianca couldn’t hear Dre` screaming anymore, which assured her that no one else heard him screaming either. As a matter of fact, it was so silent behind the front door that the thought crossed her mind that maybe she injured Dre` beyond repair. She put her hand on the doorknob to turn it, but she flashed back to the struggle she had with him on the floor and decided against stepping back in the house to check and see if he was lying dead in a pool of his own blood. Bianca was resolved in the fact that she had either killed Dre` or hurt him pretty bad, but those thoughts weren’t strong enough to make her stay around and find out if either were true.

Bianca leapt off the front porch and ran around to the back of the house where she kept her money. She learned early in her career to never keep her earnings in the house because if she did, then either her mother or Dre` would steal it. Kneeling by the rusted garage in the back yard, she placed her hands in the cold wet yard and started digging up the dented coffee can filled with the cash she buried. She took the money out of it and replaced the money from the coffee can with the bloody knife she was still holding when she ran out of the house.

Bianca put the can back in the ground and covered it with enough dirt so no one could tell the yard had been disturbed. The realization of what she’d done to Dre` started to sink in and the thought of going to jail began to make her panic. Bianca thought to herself that she had to get out of town quick. She couldn’t stick around hoping things would smooth over. Bianca’s next thought was she had to get on the next bus away from there, and if there was an urge to leave, she knew she could never come back. She put on her shoes, jumped over the backyard fence and took off running for the bus station.

She didn’t know how much time she had before anyone would start looking for her, but she had enough time to get the hell out of town before anyone could ask questions. Bianca ran all the way to the bus station making sure she stayed invisible; taking back roads and keeping in the shadows. The bus schedule ran like clockwork and if she ran fast enough, she could make the last bus out of town.

Out of breath, Bianca paid for her ticket to freedom, not caring where it led. She boarded the bus and looked at the few tired passengers already settled in for the ride. She found a seat in the back by the window and took a deep breath of relief. She was close to a new life away from the small town. Bianca checked her watch and saw it was 2 a.m., the air was warm but she could feel the dew in it. The bus pulled away from the station, and onto the road. Bianca watched out the window as she passed one last time through the town. While looking out the window, she saw the road ahead and it looked look a black river, and she imagined herself on a boat that was whisking her into her future.

Bianca was leaving all that she knew back in the sleepy town. She wanted to mourn the ending of that life, but she sat in the seat and couldn’t feel for it or the people she was leaving behind. It made her angry that she had to try and feel something for a place that gave her nothing. What did she care that she was leaving and never coming back? Bianca was starting over, and making a life for herself. Thinking of all that was to come thrilled her even though she didn’t know how she was going to make a living. She wondered what she was going to do at sixteen other than sell her body. While the bus passed the town’s limits she envisioned being handcuffed in the back of a police car as Dre`’s body is being brought out of her mother’s house. She squeezed her eyes shut shaking the image out of her head while vowing that she wasn’t going to jail for killing him. She opened her eyes and slammed the palm of her hand onto the bus window, startling the other passengers. The thought of going to jail for defending herself against that lowlife made her angry.

Fuck him! He deserved to die!

Fuck my poor excuse for a mother! She never cared for me!

And fuck this run down hell hole of a city, don’t no one here

    love me!

    Fuck all this shit!

    I’m out!

    Chapter 2

Two years had gone by since she left her home that night, and even though she had high hopes for a new start in a bigger city, things had not worked out that way. She began to think back on how optimistic she was when she first got to town, but the first two weeks in Richmond overwhelmed her. The first night she got off the bus, she thought living on her own was going to be no different than living like she was on her own back home, but Bianca was wrong. Richmond was bigger and meaner than she could have ever imagined. Everywhere she went, she had to watch her back and she learned she couldn’t trust anyone she encountered.

Bianca had never met anyone from Richmond before, but chose it as the place to start over. When she was younger, Bianca would pass through Richmond on her way to her grandmother’s. From interstate 95, it looked quiet and easy to adjust to, since it wasn’t as big as other metropolises but bigger than where she came from. She figured out quickly that the way Richmond was perceived and what it really was were two different things. Its welcoming tag line read it was for lovers, however, Richmond proved to be for the loveless.

Bianca’s first week in Richmond was hell because she didn’t fit in. The way she dressed, the way she did her hair and the way she talked were all things that made her stand out in a bad way. It took a while to adjust, but she found somewhere to stay and she had enough money to get by until she could build up her clientele.

As the days and nights went on for Bianca in her new surroundings, working the night shift on Richmond’s streets became easier for her to do. Being sixteen and by herself, she assumed that she would have problems with the local hoodlums bothering her, but it was the old whores who ignored her and made working along side them worse. Bianca could feel the hate and the resentment spewing from them, and she tried her best to stay out of their way.

Not too long after she arrived in Richmond, Bianca began to run out of cash. She thought the money she took from her back yard was going to be enough to last for a long time but it ran out a couple of weeks of her settling in. From the few tricks she turned every night, she did manage to make enough to pay rent and eat a couple of packs of noodles. Being a working girl in Richmond was tough and she needed help but didn’t know where to turn. She had a few customers but none of them seemed like she could ask them for a favor. Bianca was pissed and desperate about how things were working out for her. She wanted more out of life, and being a whore wasn’t getting her what she wanted.

Bianca worked every night and every night was the same; either a blow or a hand job. Six months into her new life, the money was gone, she had no place to sleep and she turned to stealing to get by. Going back home was not an option for her, so she had to tough it out on the mean streets. All of her confidence was gone due to her being broke and homeless. She had gone down on her prices and was having sex with her john’s for barely anything.

Those first two years wore Bianca down. The old whores in the area where she worked began to notice that her conceitedness was gone. Her spirit was noticeably broken and since misery loves company, that’s how the old whores wanted her. From the outside looking in, some would imagine that her counterparts wanted her to starve in the middle of the street. On the contrary, they actually wanted to take her in and make her part of their crew, but she was too proud of a woman when she arrived, and her attitude would have caused problems. The old whores were not as heartless as they acted. What Bianca didn’t know was that if it weren’t for them, she would not have had the few clients that she did. The john’s that paid Bianca for services and the old whores watching her demise were instructed to only allow her to make enough money to survive because Daddy didn’t want her to start off making good money. He wanted her to work her way to the top.

Daddy, the pimp who ran the slums of Richmond and managed the majority of the whores that were in them, decided who was going to make money in his territories. He was the type of pimp that didn’t show his face much, but he knew when one of his girls wasn’t acting right. He kept a watchful eye over his operation and made sure he got his money from all of them at the crack of dawn. There was no sneaking around Daddy. He could tell if one of his employees was lying about how much they made, and if they lied about his money, they paid what he thought was owed the best way he saw fit.

Usually, it didn’t take long for a woman to
