About this ebook

Our bodies are constantly processing things that come into them: food, drink, even air. It’s a process that is continuous, operating from morning to night, day after day, whether we are asleep or awake. Even our bodies, the “human miracle machines” that they are, need a deep rest from time to time.
The Miracle of Fasting: Proven Throughout History for Physical, Mental & Spiritual Rejuvenation, by father-and-daughter team Drs. Paul and Patricia Bragg, guides readers through the process of giving their bodies the much needed rest from the constant processing of food. Fasting allows the person’s body to equilibrate, and come down from the effects of stimulating foods like caffeine and sugars, or lower the excess amount of salt and toxins people ingest everyday, according to the authors. It also gives an overloaded digestive system to catch up and rest. The goal of fasting, say the authors, is to allow for the body’s own natural processes to self-heal, self-repair, and self-rejuvenate.
Done correctly, fasting is not starvation, or even deprivation, according to the authors, who recommend a juice fast, which provides the energy and nutrients for a faster, as a precursor to a water fast, which aids in purification of the body’s internal systems. Fasting, they say, can alleviate many conditions, from overweight to joint pains. It normalizes weight for people who have a tendency to overeat, or eat too fast, and, say the Braggs, it can also improve appearance.
The book also explores the benefits of fasting on one’s health and spirituality – keys to an overall healthy and vibrant lifestyle.
Paul C. Bragg, originator of health stores in America, and his daughter, Patricia, are world-renowned health crusaders. They have changed millions of lives through their books, teachings, lectures and media appearances.

He created the first health foods and products and then made them available nationwide: herbal teas, health beverages, vitamin drinks, seven-grain cereals and crackers, health cosmetics, health candies, calcium, vitamins and mineral supplements, wheat germ, digestive enzymes from papaya, herbs and kelp seasonings, and amino acids from soybeans. Paul was a prolific writer, and much of his energy, passion and optimism can be seen in the books he and Patricia wrote.

God used this book to change my life! I was awakened mentally and spiritually to what I have to do to live my best life now!

Some good concepts, but the book reads like an infomercial both in format and in promotions of their other products. Also there is a lot of repetition and going from one random thought to the next.

The book is crammed full of words and quotes, but it is also quite repetitive. Some of the information isn't complete, pg 94 ...almost all meat is laden with herbicides, fungicides, pesticides and other chemicals that are sprayed on or poured into the feed which these animals consume."

This is true, but it's also true of our fruits and vegetables.

pg. 95 has outdated information about cholesterol.

The author sounds very confused about her religion as well and writing about God and mother nature is distracting as well as ridiculous.

    I wouldn't recommend the book.
