      2012 – World Overview

      Worldwide Radical Social Restructuring

      In 2012 the overriding planetary influence will be one of upheaval and dynamic change best described as radical social restructuring - an unraveling and then a re-weaving of our social, economic and political structures. This influence will remain very intense through 2015 and will gradually fade out by 2020.

      We felt these energies strongly in 2011. We can look back and easily see how this disruptive energy swirled around us. We realized then that great changes were needed, but the solutions seemed so painful that most leaders weren’t willing to actually make them. However, from 2012 through 2015, that train has left the station – we are moving on down the track – ready or not.

      This doesn’t mean that everything will fall apart, but it does mean there will be lots of activity and energy put into changing the status quo. In fact, things that have been stuck will be forced to move.

      The astrological influence signifying this is the transit of Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn. Here are the kinds of energy this astrological pattern brings and where and how it is likely to manifest:

      Uranus: Change

      The energies of Uranus serve to shake us up and wake us up. They bring the urge for change, freedom, liberation, rebellion, independence, revolution, the new and the unusual. Uranian energies are often manifested in sudden, unexpected and shocking ways that upset the status quo. They also bring discoveries, innovations and new ideas that catch on quickly and can take the world in new and surprising directions.

      Uranus in Aries tells us how this shake-up and wake-up will be expressed. Aries is the sign of the Ram and likes to run headfirst into life. Aries expresses itself by being energetic, enthusiastic, independent, courageous, pioneering, first, initiating, action-oriented, eager, direct, headstrong, impulsive, impatient, hasty, assertive/aggressive, fiery and dynamic. Aries represents the warrior, the individual, the hero and the explorer. As you can tell, Uranus and Aries make quite a dynamic duo!

      Pluto: Transformation

      The energies of Pluto are very intense and powerful. It is the planet of profound transformation and works by doing major surgery on that which is no longer healthy and viable. Plutonian energies focus intently on areas that are in need of transformation and can bring breakdown, collapse, disintegration, purging, releasing and clearing, followed by healing and a rebirth. A process that can take several years.

      This action is necessary and is a natural part of life. It is needed so we can let go of conditions that are no longer healthy. This Plutonian energy allows us to go within and heal, and then be reborn. We see this in nature all the time: a tree loses its leaves in the fall and appears to be lifeless during the winter. Looking at it, we see no signs of life. Yet, when spring arrives, new and vigorous growth bursts forth into glorious life once again.

      Pluto in Capricorn tells us how and where this transformation will occur. Capricorn is the goat who climbs resolutely up the mountain. The energy of Capricorn is serious, realistic, organized, economical, ambitious, responsible, practical, and wants to be in charge. Capricorn is the sign that rules the way the world is structured and organized: governments, businesses, corporations, institutions, politics, systems (e.g. financial, health), leaders, those in control, rules and
