Vision Machine: A short story of biblical proportions

About this ebook
Rachel Kinder is a lawyer. She is trained to be skeptical. She values cold, hard evidence over speculation and shaded nuance. During her latest routine trial of an alleged Nazi war criminal, the most extraordinary turn of events in all of legal history falls into her lap--Vision Machine. Suddenly Rachel has the tool to produce the hard evidence she needs to win her case. The question is will her shaky faith and doubting lawyer’s training reject the gift given her?
At the same time the entire world is watching Rachel Kinder and her trial. Will Mankind exhibit the same dogged resistance to accepting actual, indisputable historical truth? Will we reject Vision Machine’s capacity to unveil historical events as they actually happened without prejudiced taint, ulterior motives or erroneous accounts?
The trial of the century--or any other century, for that matter--serves as the backdrop for the story of Vision Machine. The story introduces a technology, the likes of which mankind has been waiting for forever. Literally. In the process the story raises questions each of us has thought about but can yet only guess at the answers.
Vision Machine is an extraordinarily engaging story. Well crafted and character driven, it provides multiple layers on which to view its message. Chris Malburg hit it out of the park with this one.
Chris Malburg
Chris Malburg is a widely published author, with over 4 million words published over 12 popular business books--including How to Fire Your Boss (Berkley)and Surviving the Bond Bear Market (Wiley, March 2011). Simon & Schuster, Putnam, Wiley and McGraw Hill all publish Chris' work. That’s the professional side of his career. The fun side is that he has transitioned into a serious novelist. A CPA/MBA and former investment banker, Chris certainly has the business chops to weaponize an industrial WMD. He has crossed chasm from biz-speak into fiction. He wrote his latest novel, A PIRATE'S TIME SERVED, while at Stanford's Writers School. During this fast-paced young adult novel he took a departure from the much more adult Enforcement Division books. Though Jack and Helen Schilling still manage to worm their way into the plot with their extraordinary combat skills. Chris' second novel in the Jack Schilling Enforcement Division series is GOD'S BANKER, an action/adventure conspiracy to take over the Roman Catholic Church by force. Chris' first book in this series is DEADLY ACCELERATION, where Jack Schilling battles a group of industrial terrorists using cars as their weapon of choice.

Vision Machine: A short story of biblical proportion
By Chris Malburg
The accused was a shriveled up former Nazi with emphysema and a supposedly bad ticker. I have prosecuted three of them so far--for money the State pays me rather than for any sense of revenge. Truth is I lost each trial. I’m a better lawyer than that. I suppose my time will come. I am a patient person. If this man ever did anything close to the horrendous accusations contained in my laundry list of charges, he did them before I was ever born. My name is Rachel Kinder. I work for the State of Israel in the office of the Attorney General.
Sure, we have our zealots--I’m not one. I’m just a 38 year-old, 5 foot-seven, 128 pound wife and loving mother to our two young children. I have worked my way up the Israeli legal food chain to my present position as Deputy State’s Attorney in charge of war crimes prosecution. As for the zealots, I find their greatest fear is someone ripping away the foundation of their faith, setting
