      Rachel and her best friend, Candice are college roommates. Rachel used to have a school girl crush on Candice's cousin. Things quickly take a nasty turn when Rachel goes out with Candice's cousin. Rachel does not trust men now. At least Rachel will have some time to herself this summer. She and Candice have rented an apartment while Candice is teaching at a cheerleading summer camp. Kash and his partner, Mason have just moved into the apartment building and across the hall from Rachel and Candice. Kash and Mason are undercover cops. Kash did not plan on falling for Rachel but he has and hard. I mean if this is not love than I don't know what is...Kash wears wear sweats, eat ice cream, and watch Bridesmaids, all while comforting Rachel. I have strayed away from the romance novels for a while. Not that I don't read them here and there but usually they are my last choice. However lately there has been this new genre emerging. You might have heard of it or not. It is called "New Adult". The best way to describe this genre is that it is right above "Young Adult" and before "Adult". The stories feature characters that are in their early twenties. They are faced with issues that anyone at their age would have to deal with currently. The romance level in these books are at the mild to medium level. Wow, Kash and Rachel are a great couple. Even with all that Rachel went though and was currently dealing with, she still could kick some ass. I loved Kash and Rachel's witty banter between the two of them. Then there was the nickname "Sour Patch Kid". Ha-ha. A funny but endearing nickname. If I wanted someone to give me a nickname, I would be cool with "Sour Patch Kid". The ending is not what I expected. I now have to wait until the next book to find out what happens!

I pretty much devoured this book from beginning to end and now I am dying to read the sequel.Opening Sentence: Candice, you need to focus.The Review:Rachel Masters was born and raised in California but her parents died in a horrible accident when she was in high school. Her best friend’s family took her in and helped her to move on. When it came time for college she followed her BF Candice to the lovely state of Texas. It is now the end of their junior year and instead of going home for the summer Rachel and Candice have decided to stick around and rent an off campus apartment. Rachel’s dating history is pretty minimal and what little experience she does have hasn’t been good. So when she meets her hot new neighbor she is very hesitant to start anything with him, but she can only resist for so long.Logan Kash Ryan is an undercover cop from Tampa Bay, FL. He works in the narcotics department, but when a drug bust goes wrong him and his partner end up with a hit out for them. To stay safe they are reassigned to a new undercover case in the Texas, where they are trying to catch a serial killer. They can’t afford any kind of distractions, so when Kash meets Rachel he knows he should steer clear, but she is just too tempting. As sparks start to fly between them Kash knows he needs to come clean about who he really is, but dragging Rachel into his dangerous life style is not something he wants to do. Little lies are easy to forgive, but Kash’s secrets are life changing and not so easy to forgive and forget.Rachel is such a wonderful protagonist. Her life has been anything but easy and when it comes to boys she has had some seriously bad luck. Because of that she has put up walls around her heart to protect herself and she vows to never take them down — then she meets Kash. He gets under her skin and no matter what she does she just can’t seem to stay away from him. Even though she has been through a lot she doesn’t let it destroy her and I really admired that. I connected with her instantly and my fondness for her just continued to grow throughout the pages of her story.Kash is a very yummy man and I fell head over heels for him. He is hot, sensitive, protective and an undercover cop so pretty much he was totally swoon worthy. He had a cute sense of humor that was very entertaining and fun. But he was no where near perfect and his flaws made him feel more realistic. There really aren’t words to describe how much I loved this man, he really was a wonderful book boy.Even though Kash and Rachel’s relationship developed rather quickly, something about it just felt completely natural and right. There was hot chemistry right off the bat, but instead of acting on it immediately they held off, which made the book full of great sexual tension. There was also so many wonderful sweet moments and some really funny ones as well. I really enjoyed reading their love story and I am excited to see what happens next for them.Forgiving Lies was a fantastic read with the perfect blend of romance, humor, mystery, and danger. There was a creepy feel to it as well that really helped add intensity to the story. But I also found lots of moments that had me laughing out loud that helped balance everything. I completely feel in love with all the characters, they were engaging and interesting. The plot was a little predictable but I was so entertained by everything else, I didn’t even care. The ending was a crazy cliffhanger, so I am dying to get my hand on the sequel and luckily it comes out in a few months. Overall, this was a wonderful read and I would highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys a great new adult read with plenty of steam and mystery.Notable Scene:The door burst open and we jolted away from each other as much as our positions allowed as Mason ran into the apartment, a loud war cry following him into my room, where it abruptly cut off.Kash’s chest moved roughly as we both came back to reality, and after a heavy silence he turned his head and called out, “Mase?”I blew out the breath I’d been holding and refused to look back up at Kash as I silently berated myself for my actions over the last few minutes. That wasn’t supposed to have happened, and it couldn’t happen again. We both knew that.My inner scolding stopped abruptly when Mason slowly walked over to the kitchen with a Nerf gun in hand. In a black wife-beater and cargo pants, with a bandanna around his forehead…he almost looked like Rambo.“What the hell are you wearing?” Kash asked as he cautiously lifted himself off me.Mase looked down at himself, then back up. “I saw you coming in here on my way back from my run with your gun. I thought we were gonna have a Nerf Fight.”Oh. Dear. God.Even with the tension coming from Kash and me, I couldn’t help it.       An undercover assignment is the last place Kash Ryan should expect to pick up girls, but one look at Rachel Masters has him sighing to himself, "aw, f*ck that."Yes, Forgiving Lies does revolve around a severe case of insta-love—no one believed the "only friends, just attracted to each other" thing anyway—but I enjoyed it immensely regardless.21-year-old Rachel has been reserved and reclusive ever since the tragic death of her parents, so she doesn't plan on letting anyone in anytime soon... especially after she was hurt by someone she once thought she could trust. Upon meeting Kash, she's rather bitchy and stiff—I disliked her immediately, but when I realized that side of her was just a personal front she was putting up to protect herself, I softened up to her. As Kash, too, begins to comprehend Rachel's defense mechanisms, and finds a way to penetrate them, her actual personality is revealed: smart, saucy, and at her tenderest moments, extremely genuine and sweet. I loved her, and wish I had a BFF like her!Forgiving Lies alternates between Kash's and Rachel's points of view so readers get to see what's going on in each character's head, as well at what each character is holding back from the other. This makes miscommunications frustrating, but simultaneously, the sexual tension even more delightful. It's clear the two were never meant to be just friends, but the relationship will be strained until both of them fully admit it.I really appreciate the witty, thoughtful romance in this book. The playful banter will have you smiling and longing for such a fun, yet extremely deep—extremely accomplished—relationship like theirs. Kash is the harmony to Rachel's melody; they are cute and SO amusing together—there were times I'd laugh out loud and times my heart would flutter in my chest from their interactions.The other characters are lovable, even if a little two-dimensional. We definitely have supporting character archetypes here, like Candi, the super beautiful, super supportive female best friend; Mason, the macho but huggable male best friend (I call this the "Emmett Cullen" trope); the slimy villain, etc. etc. Yeah, it triggered an eye-roll here and there, but it's not something I couldn't get over.Alongside this adorable relationship, however, is a dangerous reality that even Kash, a police officer who's pretty much seen it all, isn't prepared to face—a harsh, ugly truth that may not only jeopardize his career, but also his life... as well as that of the woman he loves. I can't go on without giving too much away, but this suspense factor is definitely an adrenaline rush, and on top of that, McAdams throws the curveball of an unexpected ending that will keep you on your toes for the next book.The accuracy and depth of the emotional bond between Rachel and Kash touched me on so many levels. The way Rachel wrenches open her heart and reveals her painful past is distressing, and the way Kash recuperates by promising to love her out of her misery, is ever so beautiful. It's lovey-dovey, yes, but the emotions here are so REAL—it's difficult not to sympathize with them.Now let me try to get my feelings out about Kash... I saved this discussion for last because I'm really conflicted about him. On one hand, holy mother of god, he is the PERFECT man and I want to have his babies (you had to see this coming), but on the other, he's a bit too demanding and overbearing. I know he's supposed to be the powerful alpha hero with a soft spot, but at times, he seems a little (a lot) clingy... not cool. He's extremely hot though, and is a really caring, sweet "bad boy," although he's not really bad at all. This annoys me a bit because strong, tough alpha males typically don't get whipped as soon as they meet a girl, no matter how phenomenal she is. And even if they do, they act more on their feelings and less on instinct... but hey, it's a fictional romance novel. We readers can dream, right?Pros: Emotionally sound // Deep personal issues portrayed // Lovable characters // Rachel and Kash were made to be ♥ // Smoldering, swoon-worthy romance // Entertaining flirting // Disturbing suspense plot... this is not just a light NA read // Takes place in my hometown, Austin! And at my favorite school ever (other than my own, of course), UT!Cons: Very unrealistic (the way characters act, the way chance plays out, etc.) // Superficial, trite cast of characters... they're likable, but flatly depictedVerdict: Dreamily romantic and heart-pumpingly eventful, Forgiving Lies is the new adult version of Jumpstreet 21 with just as much suspense and twice the sass. The chemistry and clever dialogue between Kash and Rachel are amusing; they add lightness to the novel, but the deep-rooted, honest emotions are what will make you fall in love. The only reason I'm docking a heart (half a star) is because Kash is overly gooey sometimes... the way he so blatantly declares his love for Rachel seems unnatural, but otherwise this first installment of Molly McAdams's new series is a cute, feel-good contemporary romance that's (mostly) relatable in its emotional reluctance and simultaneously terrifyingly grim at its core. Don't be fooled by the fanciful romance and the bold, self-reliant protagonists; this is a somber, serious story about broken hearts and overcoming fears, about betrayals, vulnerabilities, and the slow collapse of emotional shields... and because of its grounded, weightier issues, I'm a huge fan. I foresee a review for book 2 in the future.Rating: 9 out of 10 hearts (5 stars): Loved it!       I Love this book. My Only disappointment is it ends in a Cliffhanger and I want to read the next one NOW.Rachel and Candace best friends for quite some time live together and go to college together. Candace the typical slutty girl in school runs around having fun all the time. Rachel the hiding out type of girl who works hard and stays out of the scene for the most part girl due to her trials and tribulations in her young life losing her parents, end up at odds with each other after Candace pushes and pushes Rachel to go out with her cousin Blake because she really wants to be "Family" with Rachel. However what Candace won't believe after it happens is that Blake was raping Rachel when Candace came home and was able to cover it up with quite a lie. When Rachel was really able to talk Candace didn't believe her and the wedge between the two girls forms. They remain friends with this wedge and avoid talking about the issue but the wedge keeps growing.Summertime rolls around and they move to an apartment and across from the girls Kash and Mason move in. Kash and Mason are undercover cops here hiding out from the hit that has been put out on them in Florida as well as working with the Austin Police department on the "Carnation killer" case. Instantly bad girl Candace finds them attractive and way to get some sex. Rachel on the other hand is not interested really.. but really is she???This is a boy meets girls, boy falls in love with girl. Girl and boy have issues and can they move on from them. Especially with some lies involved and a killer. Great story cannot wait to find out about the next one coming out.

      I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.I began this book at 11 at night because reading helps me relax and go to sleep. This book however had me reading until almost 4am!! I loved the pancakes and Sour Patch story! The four main characters were relatable and the story was well developed. I am looking forward to the next book - hated when the book ended!! Can't wait to read the authors other works!

      I guess I can’t say that I hated this book. If it were a Lifetime movie (and it definitely has the premise for one), I’d be all over it. Girl with a messed up past saved by the sexy undercover cop next door? Does Mrs. McAdams write for Lifetime? The woman should.So, if you’re looking for a weekend read that includes a somewhat strong heroine, a disturbing rape scene brought to you by the creepy ass Blake, a man named Kash who lets his feelings get the best of him, and a bitch best friend, you’ve made it. Welcome to Forgiving Lies.Forgiving Lies is easy to get lost in, but has a very heavy tone. And once I got around page 61, I soon realized I had gotten more than I bargained for.Rachel is a nice girl with a pretty good life. However, she lets everyone else lead it for her.She followed her best friend Candice to college in Austin, even though it is not where she wanted to be. Rachel lets Candice push her to going on a date with her cousin Blake. She forced her into his arms, and refused to believe Rachel when she said he was a fucking creep. This was the first time I made a note of Candice being a terrible friend. Actual friends believe you when you say you were just assaulted. Candice got pissed off at her for even having the audacity to accuse her cousin. Bitch. Absolute bitch.So after that whole situation, I was wary to read on. If that’s how the first few chapters were, I was positive that Candice’s attitude and Rachel’s passive nature would bug me.Enter Kash, undercover cop. Tattooed “bad boy”. Emotional not so man of steel. He takes to Rachel instantly and gives Candice to his friend, Mason. Mason is the only character in this book with any kind of common sense. I swear to God, he is the only voice of reason here.But anyways, Kash doesn’t tell Rachel about his undercover life and Rachel will soon get pissed at this as if she doesn’t consider that he is just trying to protect her and himself! At one point, he is trying to coax Rachel into talking about the night she was assaulted and he gets it all wrong. Honey, forcing it from her is almost as bad as the rape. This is only one of the times he lets his emotions take the wheel. (See? Total Lifetime movie right here).Now, let’s talk about being “skanked out”. What the actual fuck is it? Is it what Candice is 100% of the time? Cause that would include sleeping with every guy you meet, locking your best friend out of your house to do so and not giving two shits?Or is it Me about 50% of the time? Driving to the supermarket in sweats, with my hair tied up and no makeup on, not giving a fuck who I see? I believe it is this one and every time it was mentioned, it threw me. I couldn’t get around this phrase.And despite all of that, I am almost positive that I will read the next one. Why? Because it has the goddamned ending from hell and I must know what happens.

      This is the first book by Molly McAdams that I have read and I was very pleasantly surprised. It kept me interested all the way through and drew me into the emotional struggles of the characters. Though I was disappointed to find that it ended on a cliffhanger, I will not hesitate to pick up the next book. McAdams definitely delivered with this book and I cannot wait to see what follows for these characters.

      McAdams delivers again with Forgiving Lies. Her two main characters, Kash and Rachel are tragically yummy. I enjoyed reading as their relationship developed. I loved the witty banter and the sexual tension created between the two of them. I was a little surprised with the ending, could have done without a cliffhanger.....but I'll be on the lookout to see what happens between Kash and Rachel in the next book.

      Received this through the Early Reviewers on Library Thing. Also, I'd like to warn folks that this DOES end on a cliffhanger. I was not aware of this going in, so that did change my perception of the book quite a bit.It starts off as pretty standard NA fare. Rachel lives with her roommate Candice and attends Univ of Texas at Austin. Her parents died a few years back, and she's been pretty much attached to Candice ever since.She's also been crushing on Candice's cousin Blake for years. When Blake finally takes notice of Rachel she's not quite sure how to respond to this about change of face.Fast forward some pages. Ahem. Blake doesn't take Rachel rejecting his advances well, and tries to force himself on her. (Typical fare for an NA - or at least those I've read) When Rachel tries to share what Blake did to her w/ Candice, her beloved roommate tells her she's lying and she doesn't want to hear it.Ah well. If I had to live with someone that didn't believe me when I told them I was attacked, I don't know that I could be so easily cowed as Rachel is. Should I feel sorry for Rachel? Or be mad that she's a pushover and lets Candice dictate their interactions? I'm both.Enter Cash with a K. or Logan. Whatever. The book *TELLS* you that he's a cop, but honestly, the dude could have been a bartender. an IT guy. Because there really wasn't a lot made out of his job other than to say he was "undercover".He's also not very observant. Probably NOT a good quality in someone that's going undercover yes? He doesn't pick up on Rachel's mixed signals when it comes to being intimate. His roommate, err, I mean, fellow undercover cop has to clue Logan in.Fast forward some. The "I love yous" come pretty easily, and at this point, I'm not very invested in either Rachel or Logan, but I'm at the halfway point and figure what the hell.It starts to veer from NA into Romantic Suspense. *head desk* I’ve had some luck with NA’s, which is why I requested Forgiving Lies.. but dammit, I don’t like romantic suspense. At all. Blake turns up again and scares Rachel.There’s a marriage proposal. Wheee!! Lying to your lady love, asking for your hand in marriage – but wait, how does that work? I’ll get back to you!Oh god, the book turns into a hot mess. Rachel, Blake and Kash, I mean Logan.. Blake has been stalking Rachel – threatens to harm everyone she loves – so she’s forced to leave with him. But don’t worry, the keystone cops are on the case.*shakes head* Certain things are resolved, and then other things happen. IT ENDS ON A CLIFFFHANGER.

      Loved, loved, LOVED this book! I loved everything about it, but in particular the way Ms. McAdams wrote it. It made me go and buy the other books she wrote as soon as I finished. Beautifully written!I'll be honest, I'm a little tired of this genre's focus on the early twenties age group, but there was something about the synopsis that hooked me for the Early Reviewer entry, and I'm glad I submitted for it. Yes it's a boy meets girl and the fall for each other story, but the backstories of the relationships and the conflicts intertwining amongst them was we'll thought out and written. The manner in which the story ends and the blindside with the epilogue...superb! It's what made me a fan!

      Forgiving Lies By Molly McAdamsOk I’m going to start this review by saying #1 There are spoilers in this review so if you don’t want to know don’t keep reading and #2 Molly McAdams I’m pretty sure I love you! No really I do! As everyone who know me knows I’m a big Molly fan but I think we all are after Taking Chances andForgiving Lies Stealing Harper but I’m here to let you know that she has done it again. Forgiving Lies rocked it! All that being said this is the hardest review I've written ever! Maybe because I want to tell you everything, I can't tell you how many things I have highlighted and tabbed in this book. So many things I want to say! I just know it's a phenomenal book!Rachael, was strong and stubborn and determined to do what she thought was best for everyone else in her life no matter the cost to her. She was living her new normal after her parents death only to be knocked down again by another traumatic experience that she ended up keeping locked away. And then enters Kash he's strong and just as stubborn and doesn't give up on the things that he wants. Kash & Rachael do not have a great start, I would say they are annoyed with one another and just generally bitchy towards each other! Until circumstances throw them together, and that's when they start to grow on one another.Can people die from a broken heart? I don't think so.       The summary does not does this book any justice, because lets face it that it does sound kind of cliche. I was a little nervous of starting reading it because I didn't know what to really expect. Let me tell you, I need to stop reading the summaries and look at book covers because sometimes the best books are the ones with not so good summaries and covers. Yes, I don't particular like the cover (I just don't like when there are faces on a cover), but let me tell you...the book was good. Really good. This book honestly surprised me. I thought that it would be just another romance where boy falls in love with the girl, or the other way around but for some reason they can't be together. Well it was a little like that, but not exactly.... Forgiving Lies is more of a story about love and trust. It is a story of friendship and betrayal. Of lust and obsession. Story full of suspense and lies...forgiving lies. It is a story of Rachel Masters and Logan "Kash" Ryan. This book is more than just a romance story. I don't want to give a lot of away about the plot of the book, because it is better when you are kept in the dark...trust me. Let me just talk about the characters since they are a pretty important part of the book. The book is told from two different perspectives of out two main characters. Rachel is beautiful girl whose life has not been easy and who had her share of loss and pain. She doesn't have the best of luck when it comes to relationships...especially with boys. She is almost a senior in college and she had little experience, especially with love. But when she sees Kash, her body betrays her, and she is afraid that her heart might follow. “… while I knew we needed to remain friends, it was a near-constant struggle to get my body and heart to understand that too.” You can't blame Rachel for her struggle since Kash is a hot catch. Kash is everything you would want in a man. He is kind, caring, protective, with a bad boy sexy look, plus he has a great sense of humor and he's fun. Oh did I mention that he is also an undercover cop? Swoon. To our surprise Kash is also have hooties for Rachel. The only problem is, he is not who she thinks he is. Kash doesn't want to have a relationship, he is currently all in his work to catch a serial killer that is almost impossible to track. He knows the risks of him being with Rachel but can he stay away? Can she? “I’d known that first day that she was a game changer …"There were a couple of things that annoyed me in this book. Well mostly only one. Candice, Rachel's best friend. They live together so there are a lot of scenes with her, and God help me but I wanted to strangle that girl. She was/is the most annoying best friend ever, trust me you will get me when you read the book. I just couldn't stand her. But other than her, everything else in this book was good. I would definitely recommend this book, I really enjoyed it. If you like romance with a little of suspense and a lot of hotness than this is for you. Warning this book has a cliffhanger ending.

      Ahhh it's so good. So romantic. I love Kash!! Can't wait to read the next book. Heck -- all her books for that matter. I love how the book is sexy and suspenseful without too many four letter words. The intimate parts were also done in a very classy manner. What a great book
