About this ebook
This Is Gonna Hurt is music, photography, and life through the distorted lens of Nikki Sixx, bassist for heavy metal rock band Mötley Crüe’s and the New York Times bestselling author of The Heroin Diaries. A combination of powerful prose and dramatic photographs, This Is Gonna Hurt is an arresting, deeply personal look through the eyes of a real rock star at a stark, post-addiction world.
This Is Gonna Hurt chronicles Sixx's experiences—from his early years filled with toxic waste, to his success with Motley Crue, to his near death from an OD and his eventual rebirth through music, photography, and love. Love story, social commentary, family memoir, This Is Gonna Hurt offers the compelling insights of an artist and a man struggling to survive, connect, and find a happy ending—a search that fuels Sixx's being.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Defiantly not your A typical photography book. You can actually feel the emotions of his subjects. i was so captivated by some of his images. There was a quote that he put in there " i will leave my mark on the world of photography and i will do it on my own terms just like i did with my music" That quote has stuck with me since i have read it. The reason it has stuck with me is cause you made me remember the first time i picked up a camera and how i felt at that particular moment and what made me enjoy photography so much. He reignited that fire in me with that quote... i dont think i will ever forget that quote. He tells stories that when you you look at the corresponding photos you tell how he felt. THat is how photography is suppose be, its suppose to capture the emotion of the viewer. Without even reading the book and just looking at the pictures you are captivated by the depths of their soul. You can see the hurt and the pain in his subjects. Defiantly not something i would have expected from a rockstar/ herion addict/ high school drop out. I read the the Herion Diaries and i was so excited to finally read this book. Every photographers perspective is different and to see his was truly captivating. It was written very well and i would recommend this book to any photographer who has lost their way and forgot what the passion was all about. This will defiantly restart that fire.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I have always loved Nikki's music but never knew anything about the man. While reading this book I learned about the man behind the famous name. A very interesting and insightful book. I enjoyed reading about his perspective on life and his photographs are unique and amazing.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This is just a self centered, ego boosting, "I'm a fucking rock star" pay attention to me and how great I am, with some additional humble bragging thrown in for good measure. Even his photography is either bad, unoriginal, or both. Much just ripped off from better artists. I used to really like him. He needs to stop releasing this shit.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Though some of the images are a bit too dark and twisted for my liking, I loved reading Nikki's honest, wise and refreshing take on life.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another corker of a book from Mr Sixx, another couldn't put it down, another that will stay with me forever. Loved it
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5loved this book. I read it all the same day I bought it, but I'm a huge Nikki Sixx fan also!!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I read this book within the first 2 hrs of bringing it home from my local bookstore. Its yet another amazing look into the life & mind of the wonderfully talented & AMAZING Nikki Sixx. The main focus of this book is Nikkis love ❤ of Photography. He is a man of many talents & interests which just makes me admire him all the more! This book does touch other aspects of his life than just photography. He discusses the beginning of what he believed to be a love filled relationship with none other than Kat Von D & that ended with him being on the receiving end of heartbreak. He referred to his addiction, his bands,& his children in some throughout the book. As I said before, overall I gave this a 5 Star ? Rating but I'd have given more if offered them because I loved reading this book! My only 1 wish regarding this read is that it could've been longer simply because I'll NEVER grow tired of reading ANYTHING Written by Nikki Sixx. I hope when Motley Crue takes the stage for 1 last time on 12-31-15, that Nikki will find time then to give his fans (me) a brand new book! He said on Twitter that he would indeed be writing & releasing a new book, however he didn't elaborate with any idea regarding an expected time of release!!!
