What a continuation of the first part of the series. Truly enjoy what is going on between Mira and Danus. However the ending sure has me holding out for the next book in the series. Great read and great take on the supernatural world.

My favorite, and least, favorite part of the book is that it is in Danaus' point of view. It shed a different light on their relationship that I don't think I was ready to face. Regardless, it was worth the read and I can't wait until I know how it all ends.

Originally published on my blog, My Urban FantasiesAurora is now free. Mira managed to close the doors before all the naturi escaped. After the battle Jabari leaves the broken and beaten Mira to burn in the sun. Mira has no desire to save herself, even if she were able. Mira is tired of fighting and risking death. Danaus has no desire to leave Mira to her death. He picks Mira up and carries her to a cave to protect her from the sun. Danaus tell Mira that he is not up to killing her right now and needs a rain check. Mira then passes out holding Danaus' hand. Two months later Mira is at the Dark Room, depressed and missing Danaus, when James Parker shows up with a proposition from Ryan.Pray For Dawn is a little different. The entire novel is told from Danaus' point of view. We finally get a look inside of our brooding boy's head. Mira sees Danaus as this strong, unstoppable force of honor. Turns out that Danaus has this hard shell that he shows the world and a somewhat gooey center. Danaus is plagued with insecurities. We already know about the ones concerning the deal his mother made and of Danaus' fear of going to hell, but now we know why. We finally get to learn all the complicated reasons behind this and the reason of his hatred toward nightwalkers. While submerged in Danaus' pyche, we get to ride along as he deals with the feelings he has towards Mira. It's an interesting ride and well worth the wait. It's been three months since Dawnbreaker. Danaus has a rough time in Pray For Dawn. After Machu Picchu Danaus traveled, mostly in Europe, hunting the naturi and nightwalkers. While hunting Danaus tries to forget about Mira, but that plan quickly shatters when he's asked to go to Savannah to investigate a murder. I can not go into to much detail about this book. It's almost impossible to discuss a small plot point without giving a huge hint towards the major plot. The blurb on the back of the book (written above) is about as specific as one can get without giving to much away. One thing I can tell you is the end of Pray For Dawn has left me begging for the next book. I love the fact that Danaus is no longer portrayed as the cold hearted vampire killer. His words may still be cold, but now we know the reason behind them.

I didn't like Danaus' perspective as much as I like Mira's; still, it was a good installment.

I sit and read this book in one day; it was that good. I love this series and loved the fact that this book was from Danaus' POV. It was nice to finally learn more about him and get into his head. To see Mira from his perspective was interesting and made the sexual chemistry between the two of them seem even more real. To finally get to meet a bori and explore Danaus' heritage was just icing on the cake. This series just keeps getting better-and-better. Jocelynn Drake has created a world unlike any other that I have ever read and I've been hooked since the first book, Nightwalker. The only thing that I found disappointing about this book was the ending but only because it was a HUGE cliffhanger. I understand that with the direction this book was heading that it would have to continue from Mira's POV. More than anything, I was just sad that it ended. I'm so glad that Wait For Dusk comes out later this month and that I don't have too wait to long for it. Can't wait to see what happens next!!!!!

This series is on my 'auto-buy' list, so I picked it up and started reading without even checking out the back cover or flipping through the pages, as I usually do. So I was completely surprised to find this written from Danaus's perspective. At first, I was disappointed because I love seeing him through Mira's eyes. I thought this would be less fun. But then we got to see Mira through Danaus's eyes ... and that was all kinds of entertaining. The change really refreshed the series, which was becoming just the teeniest bit stale to me. In fact, I was sad to see things revert back to Mira in Book 5.

Yummy fun. This is one of my favorite paranormal series. In this one Danaus takes the lead. He is trying to help Mira with the strange things that are happening to her. Their relationship becomes closer. Danaus is confused. And it ends in a cliff hanger! The next book, Wait for Dusk, is out already so pick it up before you start on this one.

There's hope yet vampire fans! This book prooves it. Vampires can still be scary and sexy without seeming like humans with fangs. Their world is a sensual dangerous place and now they aren't the top of the food chain anymore. The naturi have come and now an even greater foe has come forth to threaten Daneuas the vampire slayer and Mira the vampire he was supposed to be slaying. A Bori has tracked down Daneaus and wants control of his body to use as a host. Daneus finds he can not overcome this new foe and Mira has become his new target. Can he save her and the people she loves? I liked how the speaker changed in this book from Mira to Daneus. It adds life to the series (no pun intended.) Their relationship is also heating up too. The next book should be awesome.

Yesterday, Pray for Dawn by Jocelynn Drake was released, so of course I had to read it immediately even though I am in the middle of another series. This is the fourth book in her Nightwalker series. This series is about vampires who are called Nightwalkers, but also werewolves and witches. There also are two races called the Naturi and the Bori who are both intent on destroying man kind as well as the rest of the supernaturals. The books center around Mira and Danaus. Mira is a 600 year old nightwalker and also is a fire starter. Normal vampires are extremely flammable, so Mira is the only one of her kind. Danaus is a 2000 year old half human half well, something else that cannot be said without being a spoiler. He has spent his entire life hunting nightwalkers convinced they were the root of all evil. He tries to kill Mira and fails and because of extenuating circumstances must join with Mira to battle the Naturi. As the books progress their fragile truce starts to develop into something more as the two fall for each other but both refuse to admit it. Pray for Dawn is told from Danaus' prospective. At first I was a little gun shy about the perspective change from Mira to Danaus. However, after reading it, I am really glad to have gotten a chance to see how he thinks. This book shows who he is at the core and made me understand his hesitation towards Mira a little better. The sexual tension between the two is amazing. This book also lived up to it predecessors in the fact that Mira is always going to find herself in the middle of major trouble. She wins and loses, but the question is how much can she lose before it becomes too much and she snaps? The book ends on a major cliffhanger that really left me wanting more, but the fifth book is being released next month, so it isn't too long of wait.. but..

The Dark Days series follows each book closely in it's time-line, because of this I recommend that a reader start with the first book in this series Nightwalker so you don't miss out on the terrific buildup that happens with each book.Pray for Dawn takes up few months after the ending of Dawnbreaker and is told from Danaus's point of view. It was refreshing to see things through his eyes and get his take on what's been happening between him and Mira. Like the previous books, Pray for Dawn was full nonstop action and the mystery surrounding who Mira is or will be, has only been intensified. There is one word that comes to mind when I think of this book, tension. There is so much tension and many tense moments that outcome makes you feel like you were snapped with a rubber band. Yeah, it's that surprising and intense. The ante was definitely raised in the overall story arc of this series and ending left me dying for next book Wait for Dusk.
