      Just like love this book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I could relate to so many of the parts of love that were addressed in this book. I will purchase this book and gift it to my son.

      He read his book like it was poetry, but even with that you could hear the imperfect moments in his reading but that made it even great because you could hear the emotion behind what he wrote. Loved this book!

      Common is real in his revaluations, it's comforting to hear the perspective of love in all facet's of life from a male perspective. It's rare and soothing at the same time. I would definitely love for men to take the time and read or listen to this book.

      I enjoyed the lightness of the book despite the heavy stories depicted in the book. I think the story is powerful but Common did not do justice to the power these stories hold.

      Deep, poetic. Was such a smooth vibe listening to this. A lot about the relationship with his daughter. Would have loved him to explore more in the rap and acting worlds. Appreciated the religious perspective and how that has formed him. It was all so very positive.

      To attempt to describe this work using words would do this memoir no justice. This book touched me and resonated with my heart and soul in unexpected ways. I often found myself pausing to reflect and even sometimes having to journal my way through the chapters. It causes for self introspective of one’s own life while Common unselfishly gives us insight to his. But he does it in a way that is so pure and authentic that it causes one to also seek truth and honesty within themselves. It’s definitely not intended to be a self help book, but it would be a lie to say that this memoir did not help me. It’s wrapped in love, fosters love, and teaches love in a way that is plain and almost tangible. His description of love, his words are almost palpable. It’s a memoir that promotes healing. Healing from a place of love sometimes from the depths of pain. At moments while listening I cried, other times I smiled, and other times I was filled with hope and optimism. This is a beautiful work of art.

      Common is a beautiful man and wonderful human being through his music, acting, and writing. I aspire to be as emotionally intelligent and wise as he is. He's very easy to admire and idolize and his memoir gives a look into his personal life, where we see where he came from and what he feels when he's not performing. There's a lot you don't know about a person, especially a celebrity, that makes you forget they're human as well. Lastly, his views on the world align greatly with Fred Rogers and my own views, in spreading love and being a good person. This book is inspiring, uplifting, and great to listen to/read at any time as a mantra or way to motivate yourself.

      This felt like a love letter to his daughter, himself (in a good way!), and God. At first I was hesitant, Common talks like he’s a hotep on the street about to tell you to go alkaline & that a period is for white women, but his energy is nothing of that. The book is peaceful, honest, and full circle. I didn’t feel like I was listening to a memoir, instead more of a story about love and all the different places and ways we can see and feel it. He’s clearly very well read, with references from several classic books, the Bible, and beautiful songs. I learned a lot from this book about love, but more importantly about how to react when you’re impact doesn’t match your intentions, which seems to be where the disconnect was with his daughter. Common is clearly a grown ass man who’s doing the work to be the best version of that grown ass man. No complaints at all about this book.

      Not much memoir. Mostly Common sharing what he thinks about himself. What events that are described, they serve as paths to more talk about what he thinks about himself.
