About this audiobook

Criminal profiler in training (and newlywed) Jessie Hunt, 29, discovers that dark secrets lurk in her new suburban town; when a body turns up dead, she finds herself caught in the crosshairs of her newfound friends, her husband’s secrets, her serial killer caseload — and the secrets of her own dark past.

In The Perfect Wife, criminal profiler in training Jessie Hunt is sure she's finally put the darkness of her childhood behind her. She and her husband, Kyle, just moved from a cramped downtown Los Angeles apartment into a Westport Beach mansion. Kyle's promotion has them swimming in money. And Jessie is on the verge of getting her master's degree in forensic psychology, the last step in her dream of becoming a criminal profiler.

But soon after their arrival, Jessie begins to notice a series of strange developments. The neighbors — and their au pairs — all seem to be hiding secrets. The mysterious yacht club Kyle is desperate to join is rife with cheating spouses and with troubling rules of its own. And the notorious serial killer being held at the psychiatric hospital where Jessie is completing her degree seems to know more about her life than is normal — or safe.

As her world starts to unravel, Jessie begins to question everything around her — including her own sanity. Has she truly uncovered a disturbing conspiracy buried within a sunny, wealthy Southern California beach town? Does the mass murderer she's studying really somehow know the origin of her private nightmares?

Or has her tortured past finally come back to claim her?

A fast-paced psychological suspense thriller with unforgettable characters and heart-pounding suspense, The Perfect Wife is audiobook one in a riveting series that will leave you listening late into the night.

I hate to say, but the narrator was terrible to the point where it took away from the story. I will not be listening to any audiobooks read by her in the future. She's THAT bad.

Also, thanks to Karol Klakken May's review (below) for giving away the ending. (I'm being sarcastic).
Might want to skip hers if you haven't finished the story.

Scribd should check the reviews (always) and remove the spoilers!

I’m only on chapter 6 and although, so far, the storyline is GREAT, the narrator’s voice is driving me INSANE! I’m trying to hang in there because I believe the book/storyline is worth it, but SHEESH??‍♀️

Laura Bannisters voice is terrible trying to pull of the male part. She is flat and not complimentary to your creative writing. Sad.

The last line convinced me that I will be listening to more in the Jessie Hunt series. This narrator is a bit peevish - si annoying but I put up with it for a good story

The narrator is horribly dead pan. She truly is reading a book…
The story has some interesting twists; I wish it had revealed more of the tendrils of what to expect in future books of the series, but it really doesn’t do that until the very end. I do not think I can bring myself to listen to the second book in the series if it is read by the same narrator-she was simply awful.

T E R R I B L E narration. It’s a mediocre plot and rather silly at points. The narrator makes what could be a fun (if rather average) book almost unbearable. There is no real life to any of the characters- everything is read in a fairly monotonous tone with no real inflection. Wouldn’t recommend

I liked the book as a whole but I found Jesse extremely unlikeable. I just wanted to smack her so many times. Ugh

I found that the story was enjoyable, however very slow.
I also did not enjoy the audiobook narrator at all.

If you really need a nap, find anything narrated by this narrator. Her lack of pitch and tone is positively somniferous.

This is absolutely one of my favorite Blake Pierce novels yet! I've read all but 7 of her novels. They are all good, but I am excited to finish this series!
