About this audiobook

She thought the best love affairs only happened in books . . .

Traumatized by the deaths of her parents three years ago, Natalie Hewitt lives an introverted life, taking college classes during the day and working as a barista in a coffee shop at night. A passionate reader, she uses the writing of the world-famous and reclusive novelist Rafael Melendez Mendon to assuage her grief. His words are the only refuge from her pain, and she is certain his characters are better company than anyone she could meet in real life.

Julian Kovac is a millionaire and a recluse. He lives a life of self-imposed seclusion in order to protect a secret, and honor his dying mother's last wish. He walks into Natalie's cafe one summer evening and both of their lives are forever altered by the intense, slow-burn love that blooms between them.

But Julian's secret is both the most wonderful revelation Natalie could possibly imagine . . . and the very thing that could tear them apart.

Contains mature themes.

I’m usually a big fan of Emma Scott, but I could hardly get through this book. I felt like it started off strong, but I almost gave up on it multiple times. I just kept thinking, “get on with it already.” I felt like Julian’s identity was made into a much bigger deal than was believable and the David fiasco was so over dramatized, I just couldn’t get into it. It was like she took what should have been a handful of chapters and painfully stretched them into an entire second half of the book. I was so bored in this book I doubt I’ll even read the rest of the series.

Loved the predictable story but too much drama for me

    DNF at 50%.

A bit too slow of a pacing. Also didn't buy into them loving each other despite them practically knowing nothing of the other. Not keen to read the mystery that is supposed to be the second half.
