Good stories well told for mystery readers. Happy to note that this narrator captures the main character flawlessly.

I really enjoyed this book. The title attracted me initially but the stories are well thought out and the author plays fair in giving the listener over clues. I very much enjoyed the short story format which is unusual for me as normally I go for something much longer but this was well worth it. I will check to see what else Stephen Leather has written as I enjoyed this so much. Inspector Zhang himself is a great character with his obsession with Poirot and Sherlock Holmes much to the confusion of his own assistant Sergeant Lee who often struggles to understand Inspector Zhang allusions during his own investigations. Inspector Xhang is well able to join his own heros as one of the great literary detectives.
