The perfect home. The perfect family. The perfect lie.
Jane Harris lives in a sparkling home in an oceanfront gated community in Orange County. It’s a place that seems too beautiful to be touched by sadness. But exactly one year ago, Jane’s oldest daughter, Mary, died in a tragic accident and Jane has been grief-stricken ever since. Lost in a haze of anti-depressants, she’s barely even left the house. Now that’s all about to change.
It’s time for Jane to reclaim her life and her family. Jane’s husband, David, has planned a memorial service for Mary and three days later, their youngest daughter, Betsy, graduates high school. Yet as Jane reemerges into the world, it’s clear her family has changed without her. Her husband has been working long days—and nights—at the office. Her daughter seems distant, even secretive. And her beloved Mary was always such a good girl—dutiful and loving. But does someone know more about Mary, and about her last day, than they’ve revealed?
The bonds between mothers and daughters, and husbands and wives should never be broken. But you never know how far someone will go to keep a family together…

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really like this author, her specialty being that of the sadly deluded, unhinged sociopath. Those who like POVs spinning increasingly out of control should enjoy this character - a real charmer! The narrator does an excellent job. Her performance totally nails it!!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really like this author and wish there were more of her audiobooks available on Everand. The total narcissism of her characters and the twists in plot are always intriguing.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Hated the character and felt like a predictable plot twist.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Only my opinion
I have read hundreds of novels and some have been great, some ok, some very predictable ?
I wanted to stop reading about half way through, however; I kept thinking omg I’m sure it will turn around. Well, it didn’t. Soooo sad, but the other novel written was well done. Again only my opinion, u might love it . Happy reading - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow!! My 1st book from this author. It definitely will bot be my last!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I loved this book, it was written well and narration was superb! I didn’t care for the conclusion, it was a lot of build up for a fast non-twist ending
