      Over written book with repetitive descriptions and cringe worthy dialogue. Two stars because while I couldn't continue to listen to it, it wasn't the WORST book I've heard. It's incredibly disappointing that this is the sort of title made available to meet the "unlimited" reading promise made by scribd once they throttle everything else.

      I like the story, which has turned out not to be what I thought would be predictable. The dialog needs work. It is stilted and flat at times making the characters seem 2 dimensional. I am looking forward to the next book to see where the story goes. I hope the dialog improves to meet the imagination of the story.

      I really enjoyed this book. And the narrator was good as well. The baby in the background was a little distracting at times. Maybe work from a sound proof room would help. Otherwise well done.

      I gave it almost three chapters and gave up. It completely fails to get the reader invested in the story and the only draw is the graphic description of repeated wounds and frustration with no explanation for the hunting stake-out in the beginning other than "people will die."

      I don't know if the writing of this story is any good or not. I couldn't stand the the terrible monotonous over- dramatic, un- nuanced narration long enough to form an opinion.

      11 chapters in and I’m bewildered. I have no idea what is happening, and it’s all very dramatic and overdone. I’m so lost I don’t even mind not finishing the book. I liked the narrator’s voice but the kids in the background kept making me check for random kids around me. Would not recommend.

      Anybody else hear the baby crying in the background? I swear I hear it, and it keeps making me check on my kids...

      It's almost a good book. I wish someone would have made him focus on the dialog better...on-the-nose kills me every time. The characters were a bit two dimensional too.
      The story and themes were powerful and well thought through...except for some inconsistencies that were minor overall...how does a technologically inferior society all of a sudden come up with words like "monitoring device," and crap like that? Also, how do they instantaneously know to start pushing buttons (let alone know that's what they would be called) on a boat to make it work? Little things like that irritated me, but not enough to stop me.
      A little more editing and this book could have been magnificent.

      The beginning is slow and somewhat confusing. By the end of the book you I was invested and wanting to know what is next and where is this story going.

      Decent book for what I assume is YA. I base this on the unsophisticated dialog and plot as well as the tone of the narrator. Still got me interested enough to continue listening to the series.

      Not a fan of his writing style and the storyline doesn’t always flow as it should. There were parts that did not make sense if you were paying attention. The narrator is terrible. I’m not sure if I can continue with the second one or not.

      I can’t believe I actually listened to this whole book, I kept waiting for it to get good. I felt like I was proof reading the work of a junior high student. Maybe it was a teen graphic novel? It kind of reads like that.

      I'll probably finish the trilogy because it's short, but it felt a lot like a short story that would be good if it didn't have as much extra detail stuffed in. Or it might just be that it should have been one book with a little more cohesion. It's alright, good for an in-between read, but it either needed more put into the story or less. As it is, it feels a little misplaced.
